This is a fishy email screwy.gif

I recently posted my Yamaha Ysr50 motorcycle for sale on a few online classifieds, and just so you know.. the posts had full details and pictures of the bike, and this is the email I got...........

Dear Seller,
How are you today and your family, hope all is well with them.My aim of mailling you is all about your item you want to sell on the net.
I will like to make payment for it and before we continue,I will like to confirm from you if you will accept Check as mode of payment and if you do please get back to me with the full details of the item you want to sell like :

The Price
The Picture

And to let you know that my personal assitant will be coming for the pickup at your location and present condition of it.
Including your mobile phone number for easy communication and i will look forward to hear from you soon.
Regards
Terry.

WTF, that sounds like some kinda scam! dry.gif

Wouldn't you agree?, should I even reply to this?
(I wish it was real, I really needed to sell my bike) sad.gif

It is not that!

It is just that there is 2 full pictures, full description of bike-including service done to bike, price....basically everything about it!
But yet they still ask these questions as if they don't even know what they want to buy!

It just makes no sense to me screwy.gif

If this is for an item on eBay or other Auction sites, then this probably is a scam, coz I get a lot of these emails from censored2.gif who want to rip me off!!

Anyways, if this product is from like your business site, then I am not sure!! But just a note, most scammers can't be bothered with trying out normal web businesses, they go for the big shots (eBay, etc)!!

No, this was just a classified ad on a motorcycle site, and I recently posted it to craiglist classifieds.

Btw, if you want to talk to a guy who gets scammer attacks nearly 10 times a day, then it is your lucky day!!

A scammer once made a professional escrow service site, to scam me! Since, I am an eBay PowerSeller, he thought he could tempt me with some censored2.gif wholesale products!! And at start I thought it was too good to be true! But unlike these lame scammers online, he was like one of the most ingenius ones I had ever came across, and I was willing to make a $19,500 payment after several phone calls (from "his assisstant biggrin.gif ", from his "processing department biggrin.gif ") and visiting his fake but professional site only made me stronger to believing that it was a legitimate business!! And the weird thing was, an email came from eBay identifying him as a trusted seller, so I was about to proceed with the payment, and just then I realised one of the major flaw in his work!! It said in his site that they are in business for 5 years, and according to my Whois search, the domain name was only registered a week ago!! The funny thing is, had he not mentionned about the 5 year in business crap, I would have carried on with the deal, even though the site was registered for a week, since the plan was mastered in such a way to ooze with legitimacy!!

But then, I relaised that the guy was in the middle of insanity and intelligence, since he lost his temper and confessed to his malicious attempt to scam me, after some threatening emails!!! What a nutter!!

HOLY censored2.gif
Well you got lucky there! That is quite the payment you could have lost.
Some of these guys are smart, you would think smart enough to make money another way screwy.gif

Can I ask you a question, a little off topic? Is a powerseller someone who sells for other people, or just your own stuff?
Curious only because I wanted to sell on ebay but don't have a credit card, and was wondering if I new someone, could they sell for me?

Sorry for going off topic but just thought I would ask since you mentioned it!

Maybe some people don't go into details when reading. They just scan thru your ads, look for your email address and hit on the submit button. This saves them time and send out more requesting emails to book on the items they want. diablo.gif

Well this is just my thinking. I do not do this stuffs lolx.... peace.gif

biggrin.gif A powerseller is some1 who sells on ebay frequently, and has above 98 or 99% feedback rating, and also, must not have any complaints from buyers!! Btw, a powerseller can sell anything as long as they are not illegal and they have ownership!!

Ok thanks!
I just wanted to sell my motorbike but don't have a credit card, so I will maybe ask my friend or brother to setup an account.

Oh! I forgot to ask..sorry!
Would it matter if my friend or my brother setup an account from my computer with his credit card, because than card address wouldn't match computer adress if that matters?
Sorry for bugging you again but you probably have alot of ebay knowledge, as I do not!

Thanks! smile.gif

biggrin.gif You are not bugging me, we are all here to help each other out!! Thats y MMg is a community!! Anyways, I think it is possible to open a seller account with your address and your brother's credit card!! Even if you can't what you can do is sign up with your brother's address and credit details, and then once you have your account open, you can add your address as the Shipping Address!! That way, whatever you sell and buy will display your Address!!

Hope that helps!!

Yes it does help!
I think that is exactly what I will end up doing, get my brother to sign up with his card and address than put in my address for shipping!

Thanks Alot, I really appreciate your help! clapping7.gif
