You could ask them for references from existing clients and the like.

The site you mentioned is selling the info on E*TRADE brokerage account. This account works much like a US checking account and is available to Non-US resident. I have my account with them. You can get all the info free at the following links.

Interesting,
Most U.S. banks will require citizenship and SS# to verify deposit account holders, so if getting a Visa card is your main concern, then Paypal or eTrade may be your better option depending on what country you do reside in.
Good luck to all, MIke

A part from the mentioned options it's really really hard to open a US bank account being a non-US resident. Especially since the 9/11 events things got much stricter.

I have helped quite a few clients establish a bank account in the U.S. and you can have internet banking and a visa card or mastercard.
This is not Tomato bank or e-trade. It is a very large established bank and very well capitalized.

There are some great programs that are for U.S. only, so if you are non U.S., it is good to have a U.S. bank account and mailing address. Some of those companies do provide both, as well as a credit card. It is best when the opportunity is GLOBAL, that way there is no worry about being left out if you are non-U.S.
