I am fairly new to HYIP investments. What kind of signs should I look for when reading threads on forums, to know if a program is coming to and end, or is potentially a scam?
Slowdown in payments is a big one..
Lack of communication from the admin.. QUOTE(UNC @ Jul 1 2006, 02:15 PM) Slowdown in payments is a big one.. Lack of communication from the admin.. when the withdrawal reach 80% of the total deposit QUOTE(danfef1 @ Jul 1 2006, 02:04 PM) I am fairly new to HYIP investments. What kind of signs should I look for when reading threads on forums, to know if a program is coming to and end, or is potentially a scam? That's the great dilemma we all face. Technically a program's fate clock starts ticking the moment it pays out the first upgrades, because it's paying out a higher roi than what was put in... we really have no way of knowing for sure when death is emminent until it stops paying all together or closes down completely. Even if payments slow down and we begin bashing it, what if we're just killing it prematurely? It's up to each indivisual to determine when death is emminent, and to get out beforehand. Lack of communication is definitely a key factor, although even good scammers know how to lay on the BS QUOTE(UNC @ Jul 1 2006, 01:15 PM) Slowdown in payments is a big one.. Lack of communication from the admin.. what about an admin who posts fairly infrequently but still consistent QUOTE(danfef1 @ Jul 1 2006, 05:32 PM) what about an admin who posts fairly infrequently but still consistent I'm talking more on the lines of communication whether it be responding to support emails or sending email updates on the sites progress. Not more so posting on a forum. I.E Did you ever see John Horan of Studio Traffic on MMG. Yet his program was huge nevertheless... Charis of 12DailyPro came to MMG very rare but her program went great without her having to be there. A owner doesn't need to hang around the forum but I believe if they start of by giving communication with members they will continue it until something "bad" happens or they decide to slowly disappear in the dust. Then again there has been a couple sites that have done quite well without any communication.
I think always trust your gut instincts too.
I am learning this in the real world investing with stocks also... i.e. don't second guess yourself when you've already analyized the situation (unless something changes of course). edit: also a red flag to me in hyip is when admin says 'change is necessary' for continued growth. I welcome change in 'true investments', but with hyip/ponzi seems admin is saying wants to earn some more before shutting down. (not always though)
in the hyip section look for "paid posts"...they are pretty obvious most of the time..usually new members posting over and over "honest admin".."don't miss this one"..."i been paid lots of times" (even when it just launched)
and any time payments are late...no matter how good the excuse is...or how much everyone likes the admin... I agree, and you made me think of when noobs post, " Look at all the experienced members here jumping aboard advice: don't let noobs tell you what the veterans are doing here... read it, and decide for yourself.
just keep your eyes peeled for when jacomatt makes a post - when that happens, get out!
Well, when an active admin suddenly went M.I.A or stops communicating and a classic scamming excuse===> we have been hacked etc...

I chose to give admin the benefit of the doubt for now as he seemed helpful to his members. Yes do follow the thread as it will soon tell us if admin intends to do a runner or otherwise and only reinvest when things get better. Good luck my friend QUOTE(matratzac @ Jul 1 2006, 07:08 PM) just keep your eyes peeled for when jacomatt makes a post - when that happens, get out! who is jacomatt? Sorry to interrupt...hope you're not surprised to see me here too. I did a search for "tenforever" and found that you're discussing our program (and problems, lol!) here. Well, indeed, we have our problems with the database. We took to the fields, dragged thru the mire and fought like a brave soldier. We did it, we succeeded. Everyone's paid. There might still be one or two missing accounts due to the database problems. I'm still waiting for the account owners to contact me. We answere every email and support ticket. We answer almost every thread on the MMG forum. We do all that we can. And you said it, danfef, you made profit even when your data was lost in our database! As I've said numerous times, the database is just a reference for you. We pay according to our e-gold records, so there's nothing to fret about, really. But the again, I can only blame this industry that can sometimes be really disappointing! Which is why I started TenForever, in hope of changing the trend (of closing down one by one)! We really hope for your continued support! Joe QUOTE(tenforever @ Jul 2 2006, 08:30 AM) Sorry to interrupt...hope you're not surprised to see me here too.
