Before I enter a trade, I am forcing myself to go through each box and check to make sure my entry conditions are met. If I feel rushed or worried I will miss the trade, its probably not a good one anyway. Once all conditions are checked off, I jump down to the 1 minute chart to try and enter at the best possible moment. I hope this works for me I feel the same way. I am on day 4, and I just yesterday I started checking each window too to make sure all the indicators are sending the same signal. If I feel rushed, I will let it go. I never thought of dropping down to the 1min chart. That chart stresses me out too much

I hope this works for me I know exactly what u mean UJ. I've been away for a few days n had the time to start reading Mark Douglas's TRADING IN THE ZONE book. All i have to say is that its the best thing i've ever read in regards to Trading. When traders dont trade well we usually think its the strategy or system that isnt working properly buts THATS WRONG. There are some really good strategies discussed in forex for dummies which works well but the problem is lack of self belief and the fear of losing when we apply these strategies that causes problems. U may think fundamental analysis and technical analysis is enough but thats where 95% of the traders go wrong. U need MENTAL ANALYSIS to go with it. The book explains that our minds are not naturally tuned to how the markets react thats why 95% of us lose. The few trader who makes $$$$ are the ones who have tuned there mind in accordance to how the markets behave and there have self beleif in the system that they follow. Usually traders begin to understand the importance of emotional control and mental decepline after trying out live trading and after alot of practice. What i love about this book is that it addresses all the kinds of mental problems that we go through when we trade and tells us how to avoid them and to gradually change our mentality according to how we should trade the markets. I chatted with 2 traders from moneytec who are doing really well with there trading and they both asked me the same question "Have u read Trading in the zone by Mark Douglas???" after reading the first chapter in the book i know why they asked me that question. I've read alot of ebooks on strategies and systems but there is a limit to how much u can improve by implementing them. Yoo want be a good trader by implementing the best strategy in world u need to develop the rite attitude to go with it n this book shows u how. Its a MUST MUST read if u want to do well in trading. The link for the system is: http://fxovereasy.50webs.com/Home.html The most recent indicator posted above is basically the same as the parabolicSAR indicator. Perky is going to test it this week to see if she likes it. I would suggest going into the chat room with her while you are trading and she can give you pointers in real time. PS. they are also getting close to creating an Expert Advisor for metatrader to autotrade this system.

Just like everyone said, it really is true:
I was doing so well with my free demo account. Once I had 3 profitable weeks in a row, I decided to go live with a mini account because it was more fun with real money (even though I was loosing). Anyway, as soon as I switched to real money, I started loosing all the time. I lost about 300 pips in two weeks. I recently went back to my free demo account and now I am doing very well again. Up about +100 pips (of course) Either I am cursed or I have to get better control over my emotions..... It doesnt mean that everythin u learnt and the strategy ur implementing isnt working its the difference in ur MENTALITY THAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. The emotional jump from DEMO to LIVE trading is immense therefore u need more time trading a LIVE account to get urself in control. Thats why i've recommended all the traders to read "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas it certainly does help. Jumping back to demo trading want help much because ur problem is the emotional factor. I would recommend that u keep trading on the Live account with really low amounts which will allow u to improve gradually over time. I think marketiva is a really good platform to practice trading Live with small amounts and getting used to the emotional factor.

I'm seeing the result of doing everything one shouldn't do.
Going in an out of trades just by looking at the charts and try to guess what's going to happen. Trading against trends and not sticking by the rules of myb initial system. Also I lost a lot with the USD and GBP which initiated the slide down. Luckely I'm still trading demo here but it just shows how disciplined you need to be to make consistent profits. It just kills me that I don't have sufficiant time to really digg in to it. If you can watch the trades go, you can still get out at a low loss of just be happy with a minor win. Setting an trade in the morning and watching how it killed you're account in the evening is very hard. But hey, time to move on (and up) again. We'll see what happens the next days. You just need to know how many pips you will profit or lose. This could avoid the emotion when money involved. Try only trading the EUR/USD. GBP is too "jumpy" for me. price can rise or fall by 20 pips or so in only minutes, sometimes against the trend. EUR/USD seems slower and more relaxing to trade in my opinion.
the biggest losses I took with the EUR/USD !
can't tell you how many times the market went the other way the last couple of days. Today was a relative good day though +70 pips on GBP/JPY - 25 on Eur/USD -10 on USD/CHF But I was sitting at my computer where I good keep an eye on things. I adjusted several times my S/L because it was looking too narrow.

I have just signed up on marketiva and taken my first look at the charts and indicators.
How on earth do you begin to understand all those squiggles. I have started reading about the main indicators like macd, fib, pivot points, rsi etc and to be quite frank I dont think they are using the english language to explain them! The only thing that I have learned so far is that each of the explanations says it can be wrong! I therefore assume that you must use multiple indicators to determine each and every trade. I use several indicators myself, but I know many people that use just trendlines, and some who use no technical indicators just fundamentals. You'll get it, it just takes time. first virtual trade results on marketiva.
1st lost 4 (in the heat of the moment) 2nd up 14 using 15MA and 15EMA, entry at the crossing confirmed by the MACD. I would like to look further into fibonnacci and pivot points. I have the explanations of them (from links in this thread) but I do not know which hi,lo and close figures to use. Would it be as simple as using figures from say 15 periods back regardless of which timeframe you are analysing? Or the closest, highest high and lowest low? p.s I think I may be hooked
Marketiva cant plot fib and pivot.
Would metatrader be the one I need for the analysis? QUOTE(staffordlee @ Sep 16 2005, 02:29 PM) Marketiva cant plot fib and pivot. Would metatrader be the one I need for the analysis? Yes u need metatrader for that ....

Hi traders! Is it really necessary to get a mentor who can teach forex basics 1 on 1? Can you kindly recommend a good mentor? Thanks!!!
HAWK is awsome but he might be busy.....
Thanks unclejesse for the suggestion. I came across a site and the guy charges $199 a month for a 1 on 1 mentoring. So does this mean if you don't have a mentor, will you manage to learn the ropes by yourself and reading comments of forums? I've been going over some ebooks recommended by phildunn and they give the basics. Glad so many are willing to give pointers. Thanks all! Go traders!!
