It seems the best time for me is between 8am and 9am EST for GBP. I need to get my lazy a$$ out of bed to catch the big moves.
I have had good luck today with the 5 minute and 1 minute charts. Just buy when its at the lowest point on the 1 minute chart and I can pick up 10-15 pips every 20 minutes are so. I just make sure I am buying in the same direction as the overall trend for the day

I've been throwing every indicator around trying to find something new. I should just stick to long term trends and MAs.

The president of the European Central Bank: Wim Duisenberg died yesterday (from the time of the writing) in his villa in South of France. Jean-Claude Trichet, his successor has a different vision of the Euro currency, but in the beginning his policy would not be enormously different from his predecessor in order to avoid panic on the markets.
I don´t know if the nomination of Jean-Claude Trichet will have consequences on the Euro market in the long-term but at least we have to watch closely the Euro currency today.
One of my good trader friend has opened up a website with a easy to follow strategy that will help newbies and seasoned traders. Please check the following site for further details:
It tells u how the system works, gives examples of trades, indicator downloads etc. Please note the indicators are all for metatrader 4.
PS - I have also added the link on my signature

I always seemed to get stopped out by these "Freak" jumps (see picture). What do you call these and how do you deal with them? They trigger my stop loss and I end up loosing money even though my position is going with the trend. Grrrrr

Picture didn't show up, but how many pips are you using for a stop loss?
When news is going to hit it's better to stay out until the dust settles or remove your stop loss because you will get stopped out on the wrong side of the trade. Market makers do that on purpose to get rid of small investors.

What kind of timeframe is this and how many pips did it move?
You should use trailing stops, or set your stop losses a few pips lower than what the trend seems to show as support.
Looks like that candlestick was near support. BUY!

it was on the 15 minute charts and it spiked down about 30 pips, triggered my stop, then proceded to go back up. This all happended in under 2 minutes. I would have made a profit if it didnt trigger it.

What pair was it?
I only look at 30min and above now, anything under that is to volatile to trade with. IMO

Hello everyone,
can any of you help me with importing new indicators into metatrader4? For some reason I can put them in the list but they don't work. I have imported some indicators ( ADX...) from "moneymakers.zip" file. Does anyone have this file because I guess I lost it somewhere
Hope someone can give me a link or so. Maybe you also know why they don't work in the program.
all help is most welcome.
Thanks

I find that if you Trade in the same direction of the trend that it is best to either have your Stops at least 60 or 70 pips below or above your trade. This way you will not get "Wicked Out" of a good trade. Or you can not even put a Stop Loss in at all and watch your Trade.
Once in profit then set your Stop loss or move it up into profit territory.
When I first started trading I always got wicked out as well all the time.

Does anyone know how the "trailing stop" feature works on metatrader? I assumed that if I set it to 20 pips, it would keep updating a stop loss of 20 pips behind the current price.
I tried this feature last night and woke up to see my account was at -31 pips so I guess it does not work the way I thought?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! New to MMG but have been lurking for the past while. It's very clear to me now thanks to all you MMger's. I'm going to spend my time studying 4X instead of looking for the next autosurf that's supposed to make me millions. There is some great ambition in here and the guidance from the MMG heavyweights (you know who you are) is invaluable. I hope to learn from everyone and hopefully be able to contribute myself. Well, back to the books!

Hi All,
I came to this thread because I was searching for ways to learn FOREX. Well, I have found a lot of very good resources. When I was about 7 pages in I figured out I couldn't remember where half the links were. So, I started reading over again and put all the links into categories.
Now, I am new at this so if there is a link in a wrong category please let me know. But, this post is intended to help group all the helpful links that everybody has posted. Sorry I have no given credit, didn't think about doing that until I was almost done. So, all these links were provided by helpful people elsewhere in this thread. I hope you enjoy. Mods, feel free to shift around links or add to this if you like.
Your welcome. I'm using it right now to begin my training. Right now i'm trying to learn how to read charts and what their significance is. I've also signed up for metatrader and FXCM. Right now FXCM looks more user friendly to me but i haven't given MT a fair shake yet.
These japanese candle charts look interesting.

Nice work LinksThatPay . A great idea . What i do is use Metatrader to check the charts and indicators for good trades and place the trades on a different trading station like fxcm, oanda etc. At the moment iam using Marketiva which is a great place for trading small amounts and to practice .
