Solo ads are one of the best strategies i know to build a list FAST, if i started again from scratch and had to pick one strategy this would be it.. Im not sure about 940 clicks crashing a server.. sounds like the server probably needed replacing..lol
The tactic i use I like to call 'list building arbitrage' essentially i use a solo ad service such as ExtremeSoloAds to send a solo ad to a lead capture page which adds leads to my sales funnel but i send all my opt-ins to a high value low cost product which when done correctly the sales of the low cost product pay for the ad and make profit leaving you with a stash of leads and a profit at the end.
An example of this working is a 250 click solo ad with 147 optins (leads) 8 upfront $20 sales so my costs were $130 my sales equal $160 or $30 profit AND I've got 147 new leads in my sales funnel to market to also.
