Yes and it's very simple. If you have a lot of views, you can add a link of your site in the video description. If you don't have a site, get a free one and put an affiliate link there.

Of course you can. Link your site to the video posted. The more viewers, the better chance of getting traffic to your site. With millions of users of youtube there's no doubt that it's one of the best way to get traffic to your website.

They have an advertising program but not everyone is allowed in. Generally, they will contact you if a video fits their criteria for their advertising program. I was contacted for a few of my videos and I filled the application out and am making a few bucks a day (I'll take it!) . They like videos with completely original material - no music or photos that could possible cause a copyright issue. The videos of mine that they chose had only original video footage.

Otherwise, place a link back to your site at the beginning of the description or here and there place graphics showing your link within your video. With the right video you can get some traffic back to your site.

I agree with most of the comments above. In fact, if you do not use video now you are probably leaving money on the table. I heard somewhere that up to 60% of web traffic is now video based. As well as making sure there is a link back to your site for people to click, this also gives you a backlink back to your site which will help your ranking. One other point is that videos at the moment tend to be easier to get high on the search engines as opposed to normal websites. Do not forget all the other video sharing sites you can use as well.

I also agree... For the backlink, type it at the beginning if the field for "Description" including the http:// part of it, and on many sites (definitely on YouTube) it automatically becomes click-able.

Another tip is that the Description area can actually hold quite a bit of text, and you can fill it up with additional info (like a short article) using lots of relevant keywords. You can even have a paragraph LABELED Keywords (or Tags) at the end and list them. Google likes content, so adding as much text as possible in the Description area make a video even more attractive in Google's eyes. It can help it come up higher in the search results when people are searching on Google for you keywords/phrases.

I agree. Youtube is the easiest way free methos for someone to make money on the internet. I have made thousands over the past years from youtube and other video sites out there. Most of my vids were originally created with aff links.

I suggest you make few at least 4-5 videos. Post 1 video in you tube. Send lots of friends requests & comment on many related posts. Once you have 100 friends with similar interests, start posting the other videos & send message to all your friends to see the new video. By doing this your new videos will instantly get about 50-80 hits, will start featuring in popular section & attract even more traffic.

Link to a good product or site in your video will turn some of these visitors to buyers.

My tips:

- learn how to make good vids (costs a lot of time and skill), or invest in buying templates / outsource to designers.The latter are to beld for $200-$300 at HD Ready vids.

- if a vid you made ain't atleast HD? Re-encode it (by interpolating pixels) so it becomes HD, increases your hits. Any basic video editting software can do that for you.

- brand videos with your website (not with annotations, but hardcoded into the vid stream)

- Added subtitle translation for multiple languages (next to English)

- fill in the tags in youtube vid.

- yes include the site url into the first 100 characters of the description field as it's displayed when people share your vid on social media

Update: read some more posts in this thread. Let me share you a YouTube MASSIVE traffic secret. After you've uploaded your video, YouTube allows you to select out of 3 image snapshots what the vid will look like (before you press the play button). Most video's are 25-30 frames per second. Meaning a typical vid contains 1000s of frames. There's free software / ways available (use google search) to get those so called 'key frames' before you upload the vids ... and place a HOT babe in it ... or something else that's super eye candy ;-) Get my drift?

P.S. getting people to your site is part 1. Having a good site to get high conversion ratio's (read: customers / sales) is a whole different ballgame. Your videos can be great, but if your site doesn't offer value and ain't able to converse, it really doesn't matter.

Youtube is a cool way to make money only if you don't mind having your face all over the internet some people like to go quietly about making there money and staying behind the curtain while still helping people! One of the things I love about Internet Marketing. But if you put up good material and request a lot of friends you should be good to go!

I'm not saying it's the wrong way to do things, but that's definitely not a mentor I would chose to work with. If you can't present yourself to the outer world you lack some serious skills that's keeping you from being successful.

It is still possible to make money from YouTube, maybe not so easy as before. Try viral marketing, do a funny video and end the video with a link to your domain.

I think you could make money from youtube only as a theory. I haven't realy heard of anyone making it for real. It is true that some people or leading some traffic to their domains from youtube , but i do not think there's anything more than this that you could do on this matter

Youtube is best place to promote yourself, even its very tough to get your pie but no harm trying . They have huge market - 2 Billion daily downloads, 20 hours of movie uploaded every minute & estimated 400 million user per month. Its worth your time investment there.
