Amazing. We have had a couple of hot days, normally by the end of October we are sweltering.
This year we have not had any hot weather until mid January, the subtropics usually have a daily maximum of around 29C from October until December, with ever increasing humidity (around 75%-90%).
This year we are all still comfortable with days 5-6C below average. We all know that this too good to last, but, we will enjoy it while we can.

Weird, just a hundred or so kilometres North of you, and we had 4 days of rain last week, not heavy, but good soaking rain, our water supply is at nearly 100% compared to 23% in Brisbane.

Sure getting frustrating here too. No rain, temps hots. I have never seen the ground so dry. Taking my boat down to Awoonga Dam fishing, the boat ramp is starting to get longer and longer, if you know what I mean.
I have to rely on water from the sky into my own tanks, but they are starting to get a bit low again even though I don't waste water. Today looked like a storm may have come my way, but two spits and the sun was out again.
Still got me interest what is happening with you avator near 16th January... I will keep watching.

What do you think? You bet I would take that in a heartbeat if I could No, not the 35 but 25!
So it seems that now that the North has cooled you got the heat then.
There is now appr. 15 cm of snow now. Tomorrow it's going to be some degrees above zero but I don't think it's going to take the snow, and towards the weekend the temperatures are going down again.
Well, maybe it's time for the winter now. Luckily this time it won't last as long as normally... well, at least hopefully!

Pete is keeping us in suspense.
Just to report the first snowfall of the winter here in Scotland.
There was news on the TV today that a lot of the reservoirs in the south of England now have enough water to be able to relax their hosepipe ban. Not that anybody would need to water their garden in this weather, they're having storms and strong winds just now, some people died with trees falling on cars etc.
Apparently the English water authorities lose millions of litres every day because of leaks in their system - 10% of the water just leaks away.

AF, I'm so sorry. Last night after reading your post I had a shower and felt pretty guilty/dismal about having to use water for such purposes when things are coming to this (pretty silly I know).
I've never felt so affected in all my recent years as I have with this gloomy forecast for water supply. Still, I've noticed some people around are behaving in an oblivious "she'll be right" mode when it ISN'T alright.
Even Brisbane may well become unlivable in the near future if these clouds just linger in the sky purely for visual effect.

We can only do our bit Justin, and hope others who don't, come to realise the gravity of our situation. I have to admit, i find it all a bit scary, not just the water situation, but all of the strange weather that is happening over the world.
It is still beyond me, why the government does not just fund water tanks for all existing houses and workplaces, and why it is not mandatory for all new houses to have water tanks installed.
People in the country are buying water to fill their tanks, just to survive, and yet you know the 'wealthy' people in this town are getting away with buying water to flood their gardens
It's a crazy world.
Try not to feel so gloomy Justin after all, it won't change anything. But I do understand how you feel, lucky for me, I am the eternal optimist.

I have a grey water tank that all my shower, hand basin and washing water goes into. But I have been turning it off so that i manually use the water to water special plants that I have and keep the dust down abit around the shed.
Mind you, about another week with no rain and I won't have the privelige of saving that water, as my water tanks will be empty. LOL, I will have to go to Awoonga Dam and have a swim after I catch a barra. Still quite a lot of water in there.

Was it AussieFox that mentioned that she is showering in a bucket, my mum has been doing that for quite a number of years now, even before water restrictions were enforced, as I must say she has been water wise for a number of years now.
We have been living on tank water for just over 4 years now and we certainly know the difference from when we lived on town water.
In this house hold, no ones flushes the toilet unless you have to after the number 2's. My sister also saves her water when she first turns the shower on, as apparently it takes nearly 4 litres for the hot water to come thru. She also survives on tank water as well and has for over 20 years. Me well I quite like the cold water, and my hubby is english, so rarely takes a shower (just joking).
When we put our house here where we live, yes we did some recycling we bought a removal house and had it moved to our 4 acres. For some of our overseas visitors to this forum, removal houses are a way of life especially here in Queensland. Its like going into a car yard to buy a car, except there are no cars but houses. Ours is a lovely old queenslander, with beautiful plaster ceilings. When we move to England later this year, I will certainly miss our home.
As I was saying when we put in planing permission to put the house here, our council wouldn't allow grey water tanks, it was such a shame, but they have finally come to their senses over the years and are finally allowing them for new applications.
We have a seasonal creek at the back of property, but it only ever has water in it when it rains then dries up again. We tried to put in a bore a few years ago, but with no success, but after trying down 160ft and all we got was a trickle of very very salty water, we decided to have a dam built. All I can say is thankgoodness we did, not so much for us, but for the wildlife around here, especially the kangaroos etc, as they can when ever they want help themselves, as our dam is not fenced in, so they can have easy access to it anytime, as otherwise they would not have water, as I said because the creeks around here have been dry a very long time.
Just my little bit.
Have a nice day everyone and we all pray for rain.

Today myself and my husband applied for a job as 'live in' ....whatevers...lol...at a beachfront caravan park at Anglesea (Victoria).
Went today and had a look around, it is so beautiful, overlooking Bass Strait....and a virtual paradise for the kids. The job comes provided with a house, and no expenses, and full use of all facilities at the Park. My position would be mainly reception and my husbands, security, maintenance etc.
Anyway, lots have applied, so we probably won't get it, but you never know if you don't try.
Oh, forgot to mention, the pay is fantastic too.
