Can't say I like Rove much, but he must be totally devastated. What a tragedy.
wow i didnt see that any where what a tragic year for our personalitys but as you said fox R.I.P
That's horrible.
I wasn't aware that she'd relapsed at all.....or was it cardiac/immune compromised complications or something? (I work in Oncology myself) Edit: Just read it was a secondary form of bone cancer. As Aussiefox said above, she was such a beautiful young woman. In all her photos she looked like a gorgeous, sensitive soul. I'm so shocked. At least her soul is free from that cumbersome disease.....poor thing.
what a lovely soul gone to heaven.
l loved her on Home and Away. just too young to die Feeling pretty ****ty at the mo as l just had my e-gold hacked and completely emptied. l entered a link and after making intial deposit and press "confirm" button the *******s took the lot. it wasnt much $800 but too me its taken ages to build up what with the luck lve had this year with HYIPS anyway does anyone think l have a chance of retreiving any. l doubt it. Anyway RIP Belinda and condolences to her family.
Each year watching the Logies, the list of stars that passed in the last year seems to get longer and longer...Steve Irwin, Brocky and now Belinda...
3 great Aussies that will never be forgoten and who will be sadly missed. QUOTE(Justin @ Nov 12 2006, 08:33 AM) That's horrible. I cannot think of another place to put my post# 4000.
A year or so back this seemed unachievable. well here I am. I would like to think that my posts have not always consisted of a few words, but , rather that I have posted from the heart, and from my experience, as limited as it may be." I lose too." Over 1 year in MMG, and probably as much in "Those who shall not be named". My time in MMG started during the heyday of "Expinvest", I wonder if a site like this would even get a small investment in this day an age of "quicker is better". Prior to this I made some money from . Pips, Easychair, and, Goldenrocks, and others.and don't forget 12dp (huge)I am still here, and I will still be here when I make my #8000 post. I have made friends here, and I treasure them. You know who you are. Love to all Pete I always enjoy reading your posts. 4000 posts Pete......Well done QUOTE(gonsaigon @ Nov 13 2006, 08:21 PM) Justin as you work in oncology, you have my utmost respect. Your character must be amazing. I would never have the emotional capability to cope with the terminally ill, particularly the children. Props to you Justin, for your strength. Pete Pete, you're the man. Happy 4000th! Thanks for the nice comments above.....it's a fairly humiliating role I can tell you. Glamour is absent but it's a very 'human' environment to work in. No fake pearly-white teeth celebrities here I can tell ya. The team effort warmth is what carries us all through the day. Luckily we don't have kids here, I work at the Royal Brisbane Hospital....but some of the youngest souls with Leukaemia are 15-16 yrs. Guess I got my 'character' from when I almost died with peritonitis when I was 11. It made me age about 10 years emotionally in a couple of weeks. Since I nearly passed away in a hospital, I see this as graciously paying back my gratitude.
A stranger started a conversation with me a few weeks ago at the pool while my kids were
having swimming lessons. She was a nurse too, so we started chatting about work etc. She told me she worked in Oncology. My initial reaction was something along the lines of....." Oh no, how could you work there, you must go home from work every day so upset". But her answer was simply this. These people have cancer whether I am there or not. If I can help make their day, and their treatment that bit better, then I go home happy. She made it sound simple, but it takes very special people to work in that area. I had never thought of it like that before. I'm a sook, but I can as a rule cope with sick patients, and have been with dozens as they have taken their last breath. But it is the family's grief and despair I have trouble dealing with. ' Let's hope they find a cure for that horrible devastating disease.
YIPPEEE!!!!...It rained here today...for about 10minutes ...
we got at least 2mm of rain in our tanks!! Maybe Queensland could share with the rest of us??
My home town of Caloundra is as I write a National disaster area. We have had a massive bush fire blazing all day, forced by 35knot Westerlies. This is totally at odds with the Southern border of the State which has had snow in November for the first time since 1941.
People have been evacuated from everywhere, but, fortunately the wind has fallen off this evening, giving the helicopters a chance to stop the burn. Tomorrow, I guess we will know just what the level of damage is, if the strong winds don't come up with the sun. This was supposed to be controlled burning, when the forecast for high winds was for days in advance. We had a really heavy snowfall here......followed by rain and hail all day.

Even we wouldn't get that unless you are very high up in the hills. April (our spring) is about the last time we could get snow and that's very unusual. I remember being in St.Moritz in Switzerland once when it snowed in midsummer (mid-July), but that was only because it's 6000 feet up. It was also about 30 years ago before anyone had ever heard of global warming. I've just looked at Swiss webcams and there's no snow there now and the temperatures are warmer than Scotland. Who knows what will happen next? Glad the winds changed for you, Pete. QUOTE(cake again @ Nov 17 2006, 05:34 AM) Hi Cheryl Wow, snow at the start of your summer. Stage 4 water restrictions now, so no outside water for anything unless it is grey water I am making the kids have baths instead of showers, and when the water is cold transferring it to a watering can to water the garden. Makes for a lot of work, but being a garden/plant lover, can't bear to see the plants die. This is the weirdest November isn't it? I'm having this really bad feeling about Dec/Jan fire wise here at the foot of the blue mts Even Nov come to think of it
Thorpie Quits.
Very sad that a young man of 24 quits when he should be approaching the peak of his career. Maybe it's something in the lycra suits? He can now do whatever he wants to do with his life, and money is no object....good on him I say. So, is he gay? He'd have to be wouldn't he?

Mates sometimes you can have mates and then you can have mates
The two being totally different types. lol
Similar to how women have 'girlfriends' yet aren't lesbians I suppose.

Posting this just because I want to......
GREEN AND GOLD MALARIA by Rupert McCall The day would soon arrive when I could not ignore the rash. I was obviously ill and so I called on Doctor Nash. This standard consultation would adjudicate my fate. I walked into his surgery and gave it to him straight: 'Doc, I wonder if you might explain this allergy of mine, I get these pins and needles running up and down my spine. From there, across my body, it will suddenly extend My neck will feel a shiver and the hairs will stand on end. And then there is the symptom that a man can only fear A choking in the throat, and the crying of a tear.' Well, the Doctor scratched his melon with a rather worried look. His furrowed brow suggested that the news to come was crook. 'What is it, Doc?' I motioned. 'Have I got a rare disease?' 'I'm man enough to cop it sweet, so give it to me, please.' 'I'm not too sure,' he answered, in a puzzled kind of way. 'You've got some kind of fever, but it's hard for me to say. When is it that you feel this most peculiar condition?' I thought for just a moment, then I gave him my position: I get it when I'm standing in an Anzac Day parade, And I get it when the anthem of our native land is played. And I got it when Meninga made a Kiwi crunching run, And when Border gritted his teeth to score a really gutsy ton. I got it back in '9I when Farr Jones held the Cup, And I got it when Japan was stormed by Better Loosen Up. I get it when the Banjo takes me down the Snowy River, And Matilda sends me waltzing with a billy boiling shiver. It hit me hard when Sydney was awarded with the Games, And I get it when I see our farmers fighting for their names. It flattened me when Bertrand raised the boxing kangaroo, And when Perkins & Thorpey smashed records, well, the rashes were true blue.' 'So tell me, Doc,' I questioned. 'Am I really gonna die ?.' He broke into a smile before he looked me in the eye. As he fumbled with his stethoscope and pushed it out of reach, He wiped away a tear and then he gave this stirring speech: 'From the beaches here in Queensland to the sweeping shores of Broome, On the Harbour banks of Sydney where the waratah's in bloom. From Uluru at sunset to the mighty Tasman Sea, In the Adelaide cathedrals, at the roaring MCG. From the Great Australian Bight up to the Gulf of Carpentaria, The medical profession call it "green and gold malaria". But forget about the text books, son, the truth I shouldn't hide. The rash that you've contracted here is "good old Aussie pride". I'm afraid that you were born with it and one thing is for sure You'll die with it, young man, because there isn't any cure.'
Thank you A.F.
