For all those Aussies out there.. Grand Final Night.... NRL... real football...joke... LOL

But this is the football that I mainly watch... I meant to post before the start of the game, but sort of lost track of time... but here it is half time.

My favorite team, Cowboys, aren't in the Grand Final.. so if I was a betting man, I would choose Melbourne Storm to beat Manley... mind you I think it will be close. That was what I thought before the start of the game.

But at time of posting it is half time... score Storm 10, Manley 4... but I am sticking to my guns. I think Storm might just get there.

One thing is for sure Dorky and iZero, if you follow sport then you would have square eyes after that weekend!

My wife and three children went to Jamieson for the weekend and left me to watch the Afl GrandFinal, about 4 Union World Cup games, the Nrl GrandFinal and last but not least the lady's World Cup Final last night!

Go Storm........ thumbup(1).gif

I was pleased to see Geelong win, but unless you're supporting the winning team, that type of game is not all that interesting. I enjoyed my Brown Bros Cienna much more than the game...lol.

You didn't see Pete while you were in hospital did you, very worried about his health.

It's been a fair while since we have had any form of update from Pete's wife.

Hey @liferewards welcome to MMG. Unfortunately(?) I didn't see Pete while I was in there, I hope he's doing alright. I was in with two bilaterally sprained ankles and a small aversion fracture on my right foot (where the ligament tears and takes some of the bone too. But the swelling has virtually disappeared over the past couple of days and I'm hobbling around the house without crutches anymore. Hopefully within a month I'll be back tumbling with the help of a physio but not before Barry (my coach), my parents and I sit down and have a chat about the risks involved.

I believe however that I know the risks and my argument is it's all very well and good to say, "Ok I'll never touch this or any other dangerous sport again" and then walk out of the centre and get hit by a car. Even worse wait until your twilight years and look back thinking, "I wonder what I could have achieved if I didn't give it away. Maybe I could have been the best in the country, in the world." and for me that not knowing is worse than any bruise or sprain or concussion or fracture. I don't necessarily want to go out there to be the best, but I don't want to stop before I know I've done my best.
Dorky
You have a good attitude izero... I always have wondered what if, but then you do have to think of quality of life. We your injuries there could be long term repercussions.. For what it is worth, I think you should listen to all the external advice possible, then, with them in mind, make your own decision.. after all you are now 18. But remember whatever decision you make, be it right or wrong.. good or bad. ... you have to live with that. That is the way of the world.

Just my thoughts

I am deeply saddened by the death of John Ilhan, or Crazy John as most Australians know him.

John grew up around the corner from me, and was a frequent visitor to our house as a child. He went to school with my younger brother and they were good friends.

So sad that at 42 this wonderful man, who did so much for charities and the underpriviledged, should pass on at such a younger age.

My thoughts are with his parents and his wife and 4 young children.

I actually read about this this morning too. So young, only 42. I didn't actually know him at all, but I did read about his with food allegeries in children. I believe he was using his position in life to better other peoples lives. I admire him for that. I too feel for those whom he has left behind. Hopefully his legacy will live on to benefit others.

Wow a month and no news here, time to break that drought I guess.
Well I came back from the farm earlier today which will sadly be the last time I go, on Wednesday for the first time in my 18 years there will be no farm to go to on the holidays (those also are further apart). It really only hit home yesterday when I heard a storm bird call out and I wondered if I would hear another song or smell the semi-bitter farm dirt again or feel bugs getting stuck in your eye when trying to break the land speed record on a quad bike. Even if there a so many ferals living there now it was still part of my home. Oh well, I find find somewhere else to build my Eden

I haven't been here for quite awhile.. but still around.. I usually drop by while I am getting around the lonely threads.

Welcome to the thread trueleverageteam smile.gif

I didn't even realize that we had an election.. shocking.gif the last news event I remember was the Melbourne Cup, and I think I read about that on a friend's blog !!

I haven't been to town for a couple of months now.. end of October I think it was. Not missing anything though.

So if John Howard is no longer PM, and lost his seat.. wow the public really didn't like him much than did they.. He was in for quite awhile though. So does this mean we have a Labor leader now? Not that it really makes any difference, once they get in there all they do is line their pockets and make a few changes and pat themselves on the back...

I do apologiz for being cynicial but history just keeps repeating itself in the game of politics. They have lost touch with the grassroots people. The average family in Aussie is struggling to put food on the table and pay their mortgages, and all they can think about is taxing the $$$ out of everyone, and not just payrole tax, but all the hidden taxes, whilst they flit around wasting money.. (now off soapbox) sorry blush.gif

It is Christmas Day here in Aussie, I came here to wish you all a Merry Christmas..

I am spending the day here at the shed with my old dog. I don't think there are too many Christmases left in either of us. But we are enjoying the overcast weather and nice breeze. A change for the usual blasting heat we usually get.

Enjoy your friends and family's company, don't eat or drink too much. LOL But who ever listens to me. I don't drink anymore, so if you must, please enjoy a beer for me.

Merry Christmas

Dorky
iZero
Merry Christmas people. Oh and Dorky they haven't lost touch they're giving us tax cuts which is good because I have savings in the bank and enjoy the interest rate hikes, pity about all those with mortgages though (better get them fixed before the next rise I think). Where were you anyway? Good to see you've got electricity out there now (tongue4.gif), welcome back.
Dorky
Hi iZero wave.gif

LOL There are always both ends of the spectrum.. for those that have money the higher interest rates are good, but for those that owe heaps of money higher interest rates are no good... and for guys like me, well I am just stuck in the middle.. no money, but no mortgage, but I owe on a bill for Land Taxes.. Rates.. values skyrocketed this year and I wasn't prepared for it. But they are getting it from themselves..lol They take it out of my pension from the Government and give it to themselves, Local Government... in the meantime it just means, no pension. But I still get to keep my property and shed.

I had electricity, but I had it disconnected because I could not afford it. I run a small generator when I have to, but thanks to some bowling friends they have set me up with some solar power panels... and batteries... Somehow I think they fell off the back of a truck!! But with the overcast weather no much charge is going in, so I have been running my gen.set a bit. Fuel is the killer there, but I bought 200 litres a few months back, but I do seem to be eating into that a bit.

I no longer drink, so I don't have to keep the beer cold, so that's a saving.

I am hopeing that things change next year... well that's what I am hopeing for. We will just have to wait and see.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Dorky
Well here it is over a week into the New Year, and I am the first one to post in 2008 !!!

Us Aussies are a slack lot, but then again it is summer. As us Aussie's know, it is usually darn hot and we tend to get lazy.. LOL lazier than usual I mean blush.gif

So far the year has been extrememly kind to me.. The best start I have had to a year in money making in a long long time.

I hope all of you are alive and kicking up your heels to celebrate the New Year.. who knows what challenges lie in wait for us this year.

Dorky smile.gif
iZero
Us, lazy? Never. We're all just out...um...working on our New Year's Resolutions - yeah that's it wink.gif. Good to hear you've started the year on the right financial foot Dorky. At the moment I'm looking for a FX Broker considering work hasn't given me any hours since Christmas (subtle hint methinks) so with all this spare time I might as well get some real life experience in the field I'll be working with after I graduate. You know 10 pips a day doesn't sound like much, but on 1:100 leverage and a 5% margin (I think that's the right word) is 0.5% per day which is about 10% a month even without compounding.
Dorky
I wish you well with your pips iZero wink.gif I looked slightly into that a long time ago and thought it was a bit difficult for me to do. I will leave that to the younger folk. Myself, I am just an old surfer... LOL but having the introduction of my life in HYIP.. mind you not just any old HYIP. I do realize the high return equals high risk, but with a good admin the risk is minimized a fair bit.

You are right about us Aussie not being lazy though.. We just have a more casual approach rolleyes.gif

Us Aussies lazy?.....never, like Dorky says, just casual, and very laid back.

I've just returned from a few days up at the van.....it was SO hot, but I got to try out the air conditioning and it works really well. As long as i havve somewhere to retreat to from the heat, then I can cope with the heat.
Lots of people there had boats, so we have been looking into the prices for a second hand boat for fishing and to tow the kids behind. There's some great boats for reasonable prices.

The lake only has 27% in it at the moment, but still ample for skiing and fishing etc. I can't wait till its full again, with the canoes and paddle boat hire, and the lovely sandy beaches to swim from.

They have a 3 year plan to refill the lake to capacity biggrin.gif

Glad finances are a bit better Dorky. I am working p/t now, nightshift, great money, but I am looking into something full time so we can get a boat, new car etc.

Hope everyone has a fruitful and healthy new year.

That's funny Cheryl it's quite the opposite up here the last couple weeks, cool with rain and we're looking to sell our boat. Also our plan to refill the dams in our catchment area is to build up the walls and hope it rains lol. Personally I think the best solution is to place a population cap on SE QLD, infrastructure is stretched as it is if you want my opinion on Surfer's Paradise traffic.

I know what you mean iZero... every man and his dog from around Australia want to live on either the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast!!! Seems to be a huge influx of people from the south... can't blame them really as the weather our end of the street is very tempting considering theirs...

But I tend to feel that you are right about the SW corner of Queensland is too highly densly populated. But if you come further north, everywhere in Queensland is having a growth boom. Goodness knows how the young are expected to buy houses for themselves. The prices are astronomical. Plus the services are already stretched.. just look at Brisbane... from what I have read they have outgrown their services, especially water... with a drought thrown in, who knows how it is ever going to be overcome.

@ Cheryl... I hope you get some relief from the heat, and I hope you enjoyed your short holiday...

I have never been to Queensland, but my brother and family live in Ashgrove. They love it there, have a huge fishing boat, and they love the lifestyle.

Personally, over the years, I have known many many people who have ditched Victoria for greener pastures in Queensland. Lots of them just sell up their house, leave their jobs and sort things out when they get there. I don't know of one who hasn't loved their decision to move. It must be a great lifestyle. I'll get there one day I hope.

I'm a bit annoyed at myself at the moment.....lol, I offered the use of our van to my SIL and her family for the week, because I have been working split days, and haven't managed to get up there for more than 2 days at a time. She jumped at the chance, and they are there right now. And guess what....haha, I have 5 days off.....wouldn't you know it??!!!! Still, its a nice feeling to be able to help someone out, but nevertheless my kids would have loved it.

Funny you mention cleaning Dorky, I tried to clean up my room today...five hours and a few bags of rubbish later, it's clean enough to vacuum blush.gif. And I think all us Aussie's are working at about the same rate at the moment. Except for the cricket team, that was unfortunate.

I bet there's lots of little hidden treasures in that shed Dorky...how long since it's been sorted through?
I just got back from 4 days on hols, came home for one nightshift, and going back again tomorrow for the long weekend, so it all worked out okay. We got lots of swimming done.

The caravan park has virtually thousands of corella's that squawk there every dawn and dusk. For anyone who has heard this noise, you 'll know the intensity and loudness of it.

Personally, I think if you want to stay in the bush, then corella's and native fauna whatever it may be is part of it, and if you don't like it, then go stay in the city.

BUT, obviously I am one of very very few who feel like this because they have begun shooting them every evening. Lots of holiday makers have left because of the noise they make.

The first night, they shot one just near us. It fell out of the tree and wasn't dead, and the fellow with the gun stomped on its head to kill it censored2.gif My 8 year old son saw this and burst into tears. It was really sad. And my daughter went to bed crying for the 'poor cockies'........and so ensued a talk on keeping things in control, and looking after the environment etc. Not that I agreed with a word I said, but it pacified her shutup.gif
Dorky
I just thought I would drop by to wish my fellow Aussie cyber friends a Happy Australia Day..

I am an Aussie and proud of it. We are an unusual bunch...lol Ok.. I will talk for myself..

Enjoy your long weekend and whatever celebrations you are going to participate in. For myself I will probably fix that old pump down the back paddock followed by a cold beer... just to celebrate Aussie Day of course!

Stand proud, we live in a great country..

It's been ages since any of us Aussies have posted in our thread!! Gotta get our act together everyone...... rolleyes.gif

I've been thinking about scammers the past couple of days, and people who disappear with our money, and wondering just how anyone could be capable of it. I think these people have made me very wary of people in general.

The other day the kids and I went to the supermarket and as we got our the car they saw a wallet, almost obscured under the front door of the car parked next to us. I picked it up, looked inside and there was many hundreds of dollars in there. I didn't count it but it would have been a good thousand dollars I would imagine. I took a quick look at the drivers licence and photo and took a mental note of his name.

Following my initial instincts, I took the wallet straight into the supermarket and gave it to the girl at the register because I assumed the owner of the wallet was in there shopping. As I explained to her where I found it and that it contained quite a sum of money, she took it off me, said 'I'll put it in the office', shoved it under the counter and continued scanning groceries. She never thanked me, never so much as looked at me. Okay, so I buy what I need, then come straight home.

Then I start to get concerned. What if she takes the wallet home? What if she steals the money? All I could think of was this poor elderly man (I could tell that from the pic on the licence), in there shopping and not being able to pay for his fortnightly shopping. I was regretting not handing it into the police. So I went through the phone book and rang every person with that surname, but not one was his number. I tried to ring the supermarket, but they only had one number listed for the state, and they said the office was closed. In the end, it got the better of me and I went back to the store. There were different girls on the register then, both knew about the wallet, and yes, they had returned it. I came home really really relieved. Talk about a load off my shoulders. I had images in my head of this man going hungry for a fortnight and not being able to pay his bills.

And then I started thinking about these scammers. For the life of me, I cannot understand how they can live with themselves, or how they can spend someone else's money. How does a person get to a point in their lives that makes them capable of doing something like that? And keep coming back under different aliases and doing it over and over.......Beats me happy.gif
Dorky
Hi everyone wave.gif

I am guilty of not even coming here.. I have no excuse and won't pretend to have one.

Aussiefox your story touched me, but you are right you know. Most people today are all out for themselves and never even bat an eyelid at ripping someone off. Whether it be from keeping things that don't belong to them or straight out thiefs. Yes, thiefs, and that is what many of these admins are. In today's society we let them get away with it. I know it is hard in this day and age with cyberspace connecting us all, we just can't go around to their door and front them like back in the old days. But I too am disappointed with the way the future generations have no respect for anyone or anything. It is all just a me me me society. Where is the accountability for ones actions? Many of us who still think that way get trampled in the crowd so to speak. But I like you can hold my head high and the end of the day and be pleased with my actions in life. I don't look over my shoulder knowing I have caused anyone any harm or grief. I sleep at night.. but on the other hand, I think so do those that live on the other side of the coin. I have no answers, except ask people to be more wary of who or whom they trust. Trust has to be earnt, it is not a quality that is expected. Now I have probably confused the readers here.. LOL.

The moral of my story is, the power is yours. Live life to the fullest knowing that you have not walked over people to get where you are going. Help those along the way. A pleasant "good morning" and opening a door for someone, saying please and thank you are simple things in life. There should be more of it, and the world would be a better place. Also something I have noticed is, the total disregard for other people's property. If you see a nice car, admire it, use it as a goal that you want to achieve, don't destroy it because you think you will never own one. Watching the news and see how the youth of today behave. It is not all the parents fault, it is society mentality. It all needs to change. The whole structure of our society needs change. But as one person, we can make a difference. It is about time the silent majority stood up to the challenge.

To all members out there.. just give this some thought.. you know YOU CAN make a difference.

I hope you all had a Happy Easter and enjoyed the long weekend enjoyed by us Aussie's.

Wonderful post, Dorky! - I couldn't agree more.

This is my first post in months as all my programs are now to be found in the closed sections doh.gif and I was just scunnered by it all. That's a good Scots word for "totally sick of / fed up with".

I had almost forgotten about MMG till I got a spam email about E-Gold's Douglas Jackson being killed. That reminded me of my account which I had just left to rot with a few dollars in it. After changing ISPs and computers in October/November and after all my programs disappeared there was no need for it anyway. Any time I logged on to MMG back then I just felt so empty, thinking about how several seemingly good programs had turned to dust, that I couldn't bring myself to post anything. crying.gif

Whatever happened to Pete? Did he die? Or was the whole Break The Drought thing a well-worked scam?
I still don't know, but I lost a good bit there. I would hate to think that Pete was a shark and just walked off with the money, but I would also hate to think he was taken off to the big laptop in the sky just like that. Having exchanged many a PM with him and having had lots of interesting banter with him in the forum, he felt like a friend if such a thing exists in this crazy place. I was always paid on time but never took anything out, I just reinvested - then the more that time passes without any communication after he went sick, the more you start to doubt. Was this part of a plan? To sucker everybody into a false sense of security to make them reinvest, then disappear? I just don't know. sad.gif

The more I see of this horrible arena, the more despondent I get.
It's good to know that there are people like you, Dorky, and Aussiefox about - otherwise my faith in internet nature would be zero.

BTD going down just added to two or three others disappearing and I realised it was time to quit. My timing always seemed to be poor and I came to the conclusion that, for me, all the programs in MMG were not worth looking at or wasting time on.
You can do all the research you want but your money still vanishes. Once bitten twice shy .... or perhaps fourteen times bitten fifteen times shy - whatever, I will not be adding more money to the pots of the greedy wolves in this arena. There may be good programs out there, there may be lots of people making money honestly through MMG, but somehow I doubt it.

I promise to look into this thread a bit more regularly to see how you and Cheryl and the others are getting on.
We had a TV series recently on the BBC where they were going round the world along the Tropic of Capricorn - it was great viewing, and the Aussie episode did not disappoint.

Cheers

Hi Dorky,

Don't talk to me about funding..... I just had my LR account blocked sad.gif

First time I have use it! Got a payment from 14days in there and was going to upgrade again but seeing as I have never used it since I set it up I cant remember the master key number annoyed.gif

I am no good at using these online fund accounts sad.gif i just can't seem to work them out! 4.gif Only one that I have ever had any luck with has been e-gold and yes I know everyone hates that one but it is the one that I have worked out.

Hi Aussieearner,

Nice to see you here. I too am from Melbourne, though have lived in Ballarat for many years now.

Cake, I am so glad to see you here in our thread, I have missed you.

I don't put money into programs anymore, I have decided hard work is the only way to go. Needless to say I am now working hard and studying at uni as well, something I wish I had done years ago.

Please do drop in and stay in touch.

Dorky, I never seem to catch you on msn anymore, where have u been?

Hi Cake, sorry to hear about all your losses, I'm not sure what the deal is with Pete but it's sad to think he just ran off with everything. At least we know now that good programmes are as rare as hen's teeth these days.
Welcome Aussieearner, I hope you do lol.
Cheryl uni is great when your young, it's such a bludge lol. I'm able to tumble properly with which is really exciting because now I've got the slightest, slimmest chance of going to states although it has been made slimmer by the fact on the 12th of May the gym is closing down for a bit to sell equipment, buy equipment, paint and do whatever else.

EDIT: Wait entries for State Ages close on the 9th, given another month I would have been a shot but not with all the mucking around. Oh well I've still got Interclubs and State Levels at the end of year and I'll be awesome then.
