@ Aussiefox AND Global, all I can say is Pete QUOTE(janenewtosurf @ Jun 3 2007, 11:57 AM) Hi GP Here is a home remedy for things that ache that was given to me by an older friend. I tried it and I would like to say it worked, as I have a crook knee that gives me a lot of grief at times. Most people have these ingredients at home. Take 1 part tea tree oil 1 part Eucalyptus oil 1 part olive oil 1/2 part vanilla essence (why the vanilla essence I don't know) put into a container shake it all about, then apply to the sore area, it does feel a little sticky, but I just keep on massaging it in until it stops feeling sticky. If it doesn't work or give some relief, at least you will smell nice. By the way it didn't work straight away, but I kept'd on applying it 3 times a day for a week, and finally got some relief. Maybe it was prue coincidence. I also apply it to my right hand and wrist where I have carpal tunnel, and find it does give it some relief as well, doesn't cure it but it certainly does help. I hope it might help, it certainly won't cure the pain, but if it gives a little relief I would be glad to help. Jane GP I just had a look at the pics of your kids, they are all very cute. What are their names and ages. Jane Thanks for the tip Jane and i will have a go, as you said if it doesn't work at least i will smell nice........ My three kids names are Chloe(5), Lachlan(3) and Harrison(9months). Hey Dorky, that's fantastic news and i hope you get some nice follow up rain and everything starts to green up again. Pete, i'm sorry but we owed you that from 1996 when big Plugger kicked that point to get you to the GrandFinal! I do tend to agree with you though about being robbed, we had the better of the umpiring all night and in the end it proved to be the difference. GP QUOTE(Dorky @ Jun 3 2007, 01:20 PM) Iappologize in changing the subject here at the moment... but I am sooooooooooo excited.. BREAKER! BREAKER! IT IS RAINING HERE!!! Whaoooooooooooooooooooo..... Can you tell I am excited..... I don't know how much, definately not drought breaking, but some relief.... I can see water running into my tank, and the noise on my shed roof is pounding... ever I can hear that! Probably won't last long, but at least it is something.. I am off, to make sure it is going into my tank.. it might be blocked with leaves or something... Dorky Dorky, that is fantastic news.....may the rains keep on coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pete, if you ask me 'Big Barry' needs to take a long hard look at himself. Disregarding that final point, how about when BB missed on scoring 2 goals because he thumped, or pushed our players!!! Had he not been so stupid you would have won. Must say I was a bit surprised by Adam Goodes, maybe it was just the frustration of the game. But wasn't it a great game to watch, not knowing who was going to win until almost the siren. That's the kind of footy I love. Fortunately it went my way this time. Anyway, commiserations, I know how you would have been feeling....... How's the injuries?, hope your healing okay. GP your kids are absolutely gorgeous. And Jane, how your husband could go through an operation with no anaesthesia is beyond me, he must be made of tough stuff.
Congrats on the rain my friends!!
According to weatherzone.com.au the forecast for this week (for Brisbane in particular) and into next week looks promising beyond belief....showers the next few days developing into R A I N on Wednesday to Friday (some heavy falls predicted), easing to showers into the following week. Thanks for that website Justin... I looked up my area and it looks like this..

May warmth raises hope of a wet season * Brendan O'Keefe and Tracy Ong * June 02, 2007 THE second-warmest May on record, coupled with above-average rainfalls in the Murray-Darling Basin, have led climatologists to speculate that a drought-breaking La Nina event is still on its way. An almost complete lack of cold southerlies, rather than extreme heat, had led to May being warm by day and night across almost the whole country, according to the National Climate Centre's Blair Trewin. The centre was still "reasonably confident a La Nina event (linked with widespread high rainfall) would happen". "It's not definite but it is looking quite likely," the climatologist said. Information released by the Murray-Darling Basin Commission yesterday said rain fell across the southern part of the basin this week, with 15-70mm falling across northeast Victoria and southern NSW. This week's rainfalls have sufficiently drenched the parched catchments to generate run-off into the system, although the commission's managing director, David Dreverman, warned that "sustained high inflows" would be required throughout winter and spring "to significantly improve water availability". Precipitation in a different form fell over Victoria's ski fields this week, with Mt Buller receiving 20cm of snow before the official start to the ski season next weekend. The resort received wind gusts of up to 177km/h on Tuesday, which turned into rain and snow overnight. After clear blue skies yesterday, temperatures are forecast to remain low this weekend, with snow to fall for three days. "Last year we had snow at Easter (but) really marginal snow on opening weekend," Mt Buller spokeswoman Amber Gardner said. "This year, we're hoping to have at least 20cm." Patchy snow covers the NSW resorts of Thredbo and Perisher Blue. Despite the cold conditions bringing the snowfalls, mean temperatures for May were exceptionally warm. Records were set for the combined temperatures over almost all of Victoria and Tasmania, parts of the eastern half of South Australia, most of NSW and most of Queensland. "The only thing which is going to stop it from being the warmest May on the whole is a relatively cool month in southern WA," Dr Trewin said. Across Australia, autumn was likely to be the sixth-warmest on record. Three significant rain events in the past six weeks indicated patterns were returning to normal, Dr Trewin said. Yesterday(Sunday) I drove from Sydney to Melbourne. the rain band was up near the Tarcutta National Truckies memorial and moving north. Should hit Qld by Tuesday. Situated exactly half way between Syd & Melb on the Hume. It you get the chance to visit it is worth stopping by.
Well Peach, you're right there!
They've predicted the rain for today 'til Thursday in Brisbane.....I'm so excited I'm all agitated. I'm at home on holidays this week so I'd better get up to the post office shortly before it hits us....I'll let y'all know how it goes. Edit: Well I just read this story....seems we'll be getting less than expected but it will still be lovely nonetheless: QLD rain - but drought far from over Tom Saunders, Monday June 4, 2007 - 17:36 EST Rain during the next few days will only bring slight relief from severe drought conditions across eastern QLD. Although up to 50mm is likely across the region from Tuesday to Thursday much more is needed to restore recent deficits. To highlight the issue, in Southeast coastal regions rainfall during the past six months is running at over 400mm below average. Computer models were originally hinting that an east coast low could dump days of heavy rain over Southeast QLD later in the week. That rain, unfortunately for QLD, now appears more likely to fall over northeast NSW. Patchy rain and storms on Sunday was a precursor to the upcoming rain. Totals included 68mm on the Sunshine Coast, their wettest day for 17 months. A few inland locations also picked up decent falls including 31mm at Injune, their wettest day for 7 months. - Weatherzone
This is the latest from the bom site.
QUOTE Issued at 4:33pm on Tuesday the 5th of June 2007 Graziers in the Maranoa, Warrego, Central West, Central Highlands, Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay, Burnett Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts are warned that a rain band developing today and persisting Wednesday will be followed by a very cold outbreak of SW winds on Thursday and Friday. Possible sleet developing about southern border ranges on Thursday and Friday. There is a serious risk to vulnerable animals. So maybe some more rain... but followed by the cold... I hate winter... but I will gladly accept the rain. Dorky
Hey all.
Beautiful rain here in Brissie....we just got 23mm in the past few hours. The next 2 days ahead look very promising indeed. Yep Dorky, the cold's a comin' as well....
Been raining all night long here in Brisbane!
Woke up at various times and it just hasn't stopped. We're now up to 50mm and the catchments HAVE been getting it too! With rain predicted for all of Wed and Thurs the dam levels will go up by something at least, if not a lot...but I'm happy. Everything's so saturated here. Since I'm on holidays I'll be going for a walk along the brook to see how the ducks are enjoying themselves down there later. To quote from the weatherzone forum where an engineer has commented: "Well so far from the event thus far, the catchment has picked up a widespread distribution of 20-30mm totals with some isolated parts of the catchment around 50mm. A good start so far considering that we are expecting this rain event to continue at least all of today and all of tomorrow. I wouldn't expect to see much of a dam level increase at this stage if at all. But over the coming days it will be interesting to see how much they go up. I am recording the catchment data and radar images and rainfall distribution plots for data validation purposes of my computer model."
I checked the rain gauge outside at 9, 57mm

we will be singing Rain Glorious Rain Its been bucketing down all night and its 11am and its still raining very heavy. Even though we live in Tiaro Shire, and parts of Tiaro Shire have been drought declared, we have had a our tanks full for a while now, and topped up yesterday, but they are so overflowing, its just a shame that we can't save it and send it where they need it more. I am so very glad that Brisbane is getting it where it is needed most and that the dams are hopefully starting to full up. I love the cooler weather, and its a bit chillier today, our solar hot water system will only be luke warm, as we never had an electrical switch installed for this type of cool weather, oh well if its a cool shower so be it, as I wouldn't trade it in the world if it mean't that people aren't getting the rain where they need it. Have a wonderfully wet day, and please be safe on our roads even if it means you have to slow down and be late to where you are going to. Jane
We had some 60mm today, very gloomy, with heavy showers coming through, word is that it should get heavier between now and Friday.
@ A.F. Big Bazza, did have a lousy game, way more frustrated than I have ever known him to be, really he was soundly beaten on the night. @ Global, I am horrified to hear of the train crash in your neck of the woods, I know just how much an incident like this impacts on small communities, seems everyone is touched. Regarding your aches and pains, we use a gell designed to be used on animals, it is called ISOGEL and it is available from produce stores, a great big tub costs around $15.00AU, and the whole town is on it, we call it 'Horse Cream', has nothing dangerous in it, but, it works. Pete
You know what the top story on QLD ABC was tonight? The rain. You know you're in a drought when that happens especially since there are no floods that came with it (to the best of my knowledge).

LOL....at the horse ointment Pete.
At a nursing home I worked in, we had a resident, Geoff, who in his younger days was a horse trainer, in fact his whole life revolved around his horses...think he had a horse riding school as well. Anytime he had something wrong with him, he insisted, very loudly and strongly, that we cover his wound, aches, whatever, with this ghastly horse ointment. He swore by it, and thought we were all crazy because we didn't use it.....lol.....I had a soft spot for him. He fought the heirarchy to be able to use that stuff........and he won. It was in a white tub, and probably a bit thicker than vaseline, from memory. I thought he was pleasantly crazy........maybe he wasn't after all!! He was a bombers supporter, and such a lovely, lovely, man. If he liked you, there isn't anything he wouldn't do for you, if he didn't like you.....hehe, watch out. Lucky for me, we got on like a house on fire. He used to say I was his ray of sunshine. How sweet is that. When I was off work, in hospital, having an operation, he even rang my mum, to see how I was, he was so concerned. Mention horse ointment, and now I'm reminiscing...... Cheryl
I had to go and see my Doctor on Monday to fill out some paper work for the Insurance Company and i asked him if i could have a pain killer called Tremal or something like that, so he gave me two scripts.
One you take 1 tablet a day and the other one was the same drug but you take 3 a day. I have been walking around like a Zombie ever since, sleeping 5 or 6 hours a day........ One of my friends asked if it helped with the pain in my arm and i told him that i couldn't feel my arm or anything else for that matter! So i am off those drugs and will now give the two remedies that have been suggested in this thread a go. I just hope i don't start acting like a horse......... GP PS: Great news on all the rain that everyone has been receiving and my thoughts go out to all the victims of the train disaster. The nursing home where my mother lives, has a bus, that takes all the oldies out to the produce store, and they swoop on the 'horse cream'. Pete
Well the rain's pi**ed off now entirely in Brisbane.
I guess the Thursday forecast for heavy rain had to be abandoned now that the sun's out again, oh well..... We received about 70mm in total over 1-2 days so that's pretty exciting. Dam levels went up by 0.09% or something insignificant. The catchment needed so much saturation before runoff could occur and we all knew that but secretly avoided thinking about it.... As with the article I posted just a little earlier though, this rain looks like a newly emerging pattern which could indicate the welcoming of a wonderful La Nina event within weeks to come if it stabilises, so best wishes to us all!!!!
@ Global, try to search your country if someone is selling this natural pain killer:
Donsbach Fortodol, it is absolutely fantastic. I found it a couple of weeks ago and have been taking two pills daily because I have been suffering from chronic pains for years (diagnosed arthritis, psoriatic arthritis with ?) and now finally I've been almost pain free and feel fantastic. In addition to killing pain it gives you energy. It contains only two substancies, curcumin and phenylalanin. No side effects and I read somewhere that it might be as efficient in relieving pain as morphine - don't know, never tried morphine. But Fortodol, absolutely worth trying. @ Aussies in general. It amuses me to watch you talking weather so much. In my country the rain is also a popular topic when discussing weather, but we usually don't get so excited about it, frankly quite the opposite. But who knows how dry this summer will become. Now it has been sunny and warm (+28 C, actually hot by our standards) for a few days. Well, you enjoy your rain there (you've deserved it) and we will enjoy our sun here for a change. Raija
28C that's so funny @nenumphar I'm used that kind of temperature, I was sitting here the other in a tracksuit and freezing hands so I went upstairs to check the thermometer certain it would be 17 or lower...exactly 20C
Talking about weather differences, I'm off to the Good Guys to buy a heater since it'll be getting down to 9 degrees for Sunday and Monday mornings....yeah, call me a wuss I don't care.

Or a great long weekend in the case of us QLDers. Here's an interesting piece of trivia: On this day in 1942 Japanese subs shelled the area in and around Sydney and Newcastle, but did little damage. Well, I'm going to go outside and lie on the trampoline and see if I can warm up.

I've just had an epiphany:
Nothing in the Universe is truly random, given enough information you can accurately predict anything. On another note I am going to the Bookfest in Brisbane tomorrow, looking specifically for the Animals of Farthing Wood books. I saw the series on the ABC about 15 years ago and relevantly retaken an interest in the book. Should I keep an eye out for anything else? Oh by the way, there's over 2 million books on sale over the 3 day period, which means it falls a little outside the top 100 largest libraries in the US (I couldn't find any data for Australia). P.S Good work with the Wallabies, but they were still scrappy.
Well, wasn't I a happy little vegemite on Friday night!!!!
And my husband, WELL!!!, he was jumping up and down in his chair like he was sitting on a spring. That last couple of minutes was a real heart stopper. My mum and step father were there as usual[/color].........one's got a pacemaker, the others on heart medicaton.......lol, I was a bit concerned if they could cope with the excitement or not. I just typed up a heap on something and somehow it disappeared......
Sooooooooooooooooo,
What's for tea A.F? Pete QUOTE(gonsaigon @ Jun 11 2007, 08:39 PM) Sooooooooooooooooo, What's for tea A.F? Pete LOL....funny you should ask that Pete. Just as I got off the computer and opened the fridge to get tea started (snags and vegies), Daryl rang on his way home from Canberra and said he would really like pizza for tea. So, a quick call to the local pizza shop, and they all had pizza and I had sweet and sour pork, 'cause our pizza shop also delivers Chinese. Now to my story I typed before, that disappeared before my eyes. My 2 younger children and I spent the long weekend at our van, on the Lake. Sunday morning was very very foggy. The kids thought it would be an adventure to go for a walk in the fog, so off we went. If anyone else has seen/experienced the following please let me know. It was uncanny (for me, anyway). Maybe Cake is familiar with it living in Scotland. Anyway, as we walked to the lake, the water and the fog were indistinguishable. It just all looked like one thing. It appeared that we were walking into a big white wall, or nothing. As we approached the waters edge, it looked like we were on the end of the earth, nothing in front except white, and it looked like the ground just came to an end, and then it was a drop into nothing. Even eerier was a huge dead tree not far in from the edge of the lake, that appeared to be just 'hanging' in nothing. It sounds silly, I know, but it really unnerved me. Such a very strange feeling. Of course, once we actually got to the edge of the lake, it just looked like a fog hanging over the water. But until we got there it was eerie. I can't find the words to say how it made me feel, all I can say, even though it's not the right word, is that I felt unbalanced (physically, not mentally!) Anyone else seen this? Maybe people who live near the water see it all the time.
Like something doesn't seem exactly right or that you haven't done before such as walking through a dead silent canefield on a moonless night.
As for my book hunt I found one book that I wanted twice (both disappointingly in paperback but at least good condition), one abridged version of three that I wanted (but two I already had) and a book on MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice (lol oldschool, just for a bit of nostalgia)
I have indeed suffered from disorientation in a fog A.F. on many of the dams that I fished over the years we got a fog that was less than one metre above the water, but impossible to see through, this is a little worrying when you have no real idea what is beneath you.
Onto dinner, or tea as we Aussies refer to it, a little over a week ago we decided to limit our red meat intake, traditionally we have eaten far more of it than we should, but we do enjoy a thick steak. Last night for the first time in 8 nights we had a steak, and none of us enjoyed it, it seemed to be really fatty, although it was lean steak. Tonight it's back to fish, and vegies. Lake Fyans sounds wonderful, and, pizza free? Just an update on my collarbone: I went to the bone doctor yesterday and he said it's healing well but it'll be 2 weeks until I'm back to pushups and chinups, 3 weeks until trampoline and 4 until I'm back at tumbling. Truth be told I'm starting to get a little restless but on the upside I don't have to wear the sling anymore and also he said alcohol doesn't effect the healing process so he said and I quote, "You can drink as much as you like" Hi iZero Just wanted to wish you a happy 18th Birthday. be happy and safe. Wish I could send you a drink. Wow to be 18 again. Glad your shoulder is nearly there. Have a great day and night. Best Regards Jane

Dorky I didn't thank goodness, now a whitewash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ???? @ cake, what the world calls Rugby, we call Rugby Union, Rugby league is the"working man's code", and by far the most popular, it has always been a professional code. Of course A.F.L.s really the game they play in heaven, despite what other Aussies may say. iZero, congrats on turning 18, what a great time in your life. Pete Hi Pete My hubby John is English and we always get into a dispute over what we call the footy sports. Growing up we always called league - football or footy, he says football is soccer. As we always called Soccer - Soccer. Rugby is Rubgy League and AFL we called arial ping pong, as I grew up in Sydney and in NSW then we had nothing to really do with AFL which was then called VFL. My first viewing of VFL was a grand final and I decided I liked the colours of the Red and Black, I think it was Essendon, who I decided to barrack for, then later on back in the early 80's I was living in Tassie and a Melbourne team decided to become the Sydney Swans, so I decided to go for them. I am not a die hard fan at all, but would support Sydney Swans then Essendon in a match. I really do like the colours of Red and White, when I was 17 I was doing nursing, and quite often after doing a late shift, my dad would be up watching TV, and the English Soccer would be on, and Manchester United was Red and White, so have been a fan of theirs for years, So you would then be able to guess that the Red and White colours of footy belong to St George in Sydney, and I have been a fan of theirs since I was 10 and discovered football. So I have followed my Red and White colour scheme ever since. Its ok I am a girl and I don't have to make sense. I am also 50 so making sense isn't really very important any more, I love being iZero, I hope you had a great night. Jane
Has anyone used Bpay through e-forexgold to fund their e-gold account?
