Well after a short spell away I have returned a broken man - literally. "Broken" because on Wednesday I was playing silly buggers on the trampoline at tumbling and flew off the tramp onto my shoulder and now I have what they call, "A superiorly angulated transverse fracture through the distal shaft of the clavicle" or what I know as a broken right collarbone.

That's gold. (Well not really)

"Man" because when I went to get the second opinion the doctor commented how it was unusual to see a greenstick fracture in collarbones of matured bones and I was like, "Wait I'm only 163cm have I stopped growing? My dad only started when he was my age." and he's like, "Well the ends of your bones in your vertebrae are capped so that means you're not growing anymore so I like, "Well that's just great then, I'm gonna be a midget". But on the upside that means I'll always have legroom in economy class.
So now I've got thee mouse set up on the left side and typing with one hand which could be difficult to do my end of semester exams with and even longer to do my accounting assignment hellno.gif .

Oh SNAP! Seriously this one's broken, can I get a new one?

Well as it turns out there's no surgery needed, it should just reset itself if I just leave it as is given that I let it rest and have correct posture for the next 6-8 weeks. Fingers crossed. In the meantime it's legwork, flexibility and study. So Dorky it looks not so much doors closing but others opening as doors closing and me having to force others open. dry.gif

Hi iZero

I feel for you and your broken collar bone, especially when you need to finish assignments on the computer keyboard.

Hopefully all will heal well and you will be bouncing back soon.

Be positive iZero. I do hope your bones mend correctly and I know normal life duties will be a bit of a struggle. However, mark my words, there will be something good come out of this. Maybe more time to study so you do better at your exams. Even maybe something even better. Take life each day and do with it what you can. You are so lucky compared to others, but I guess it is a real PIA with the pain you have to endure in the meantime.

I will be thinking of you.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the Mums.

LOL....I got woken by two very excited little children, with an array of gifts, ranging from a dressing gown and perfume, to all sorts of handmade goodies....(the best kind).

We were at our van at Lake Fyans, spent our first weekend there, it was absolutely glorious, fantastic weather, and just peace and serenity. Didn't want to come home, for sure.

Cheryl

Sorry about your collar bone izero, must have hurt like crazy. The good news is, at least it mends.

Hey there aussiefox, wave.gif

Just dropped in to see if anyone else has been getting this magnificent rain....... yahoo.gif

It has been raining for almost 24 hours and this is the 2nd time this month and it makes a huge difference in this area as it is a dairy/orchards/meat-works driven area!

Nice to see people smiling again, now all we need is our beloved Bombers to start winning again........ doh.gif

Great to see things wet again isn't it....everybody's lawns are growing again, and apparently more rain for the rest of the week. Lets hope it continues as it is supposed to.

Disappointing with the bombers at the moment.....but we are going to win this weekend...lol, I can feel it.

We've been getting some patchy rain up here which is good because I feel guilty because I have to shower for twice as long to get clean with one arm out of action however I saw the doc yesterday and she said it was starting to re-set itself. One problem is that she mentioned that alcohol weakens bones and I've got my 18th in a little under a month so I've gotta start compensating with the milk now wink.gif . I'll need to call Michelle tonight and see how the girls went with their control test last Sunday. Helena qualified for nationals and took out the Queensland title for her age group and Ella and Jayne came first and second but they didn't get the qualifying score for nationals. It was the degree of difficulty that got them, they were both technically good except Ella's flics which were a little wide (but then again with gym if your ankles aren't so close together that they're virtually crossed they're too wide). Aw man I'm gonna get so fat over the next few weeks because I can't even jog without my collarbone aching doh.gif .

It is as if the town that i live in has had an awakening with the last weeks weather pattern, rain for a couple of days then one day of sun and then rain for another couple of days and now it's a wonderful sunny day again.

I dropped in to the local watering hole last night and it was full with happy farmers and there family's.

Now i just pray that the rain heads up north to help the guys and girls that have been doing it tough for so long.

On another note, with out any confidence at all i think the mighty bombers will get up for a win against that Queensland mob!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Oh Dorky, surely the rain must be due there shortly sad.gif , they say the whole weather pattern has changed, and some are even saying the drought will break this year. So I hope you get some rain mighty quickly. It is still raining here, on and off, but the dirt is now mud, the lawns are back and are green, now we just have to get enough rain to start filling the catchments.

Well, myself and the kids are going away again this weekend, while Daryl works (poor bugger...hehe). I am going to try and get some photo's taken to post. I will be spending most of my time working on a 2500 word essay, my last assignment this term......Monday I start my next 2 units, time sure flies.

Doonas out here, we have just had the first cold night of the season, and snuggling down under a Doona is a real treat.

Tonight the sky is crystal clear, so we are in for another cool one.

So happy to hear that you have had rain down South, we are still thirsty.

Yeah, my feet were so cold I ended up waking up before 8 (which is unheard of for a uni student). Next to no rain up here, maybe 10mm over the last week or so but I'm under the impression that if we get a mild winter it'll set the seasons right (last year or two Ii dare to say it was warm). As for my collarbone, it's started to heal and last night I worked a bit of ab work and leg flexibility. After only 2 weeks it's gotten worse, I could almost do front splits left leg first but I must've lost 5cm or something which is considerable. Ah well what can you do? I've started listening Living End again, how can you pen such good songs? Hey just as I was typing this my uncle rang me and he talked to a friend of his who's principal of a brokerage company which is in the line of work of what I want to do (if my stunt performing/circus plan falls through) so I'll send in a CV and see what happens.

How about the Wallabies, only just got out of jail there, they're really going to need to shape up by September if we want the two most important trophies in the world.

I remember a photo that you posted last year in the 12by12 thread of your kids Global... they are sure a cute bunch of kids you have. Enjoy them while they are cute and cuddly, believe me. Also don't be surprised if they change teams later on, it adds to greater in home entertainment when watching a game.

Nobody mentioned the State of Origon game the other night. Do we have all NSW supporters here?

Well I was behind the marroons. smile.gif Lets see what happens in Sydney next match?

Also I report, still no rain! But now I don't expect any due to it being nearly winter. We don't get rain in winter usually, but I don't care when we get it, just as long as we get some!

Water tanks are again at a critical level. I am down to approx 2000 gallons. I still save all the washing water and shower water, but I am battling to keep my plants alive. Only time will tell.

Mine was as good as it could be without being able to run around wink.gif. POTC3 sold out on Saturday night so didn't get to see it, but I plenty of uni work done and studied for a Business Stats computer exam (which was today and I probably aced). I also finally got to watch X-Men 3 and the Juggernaut actually says, "I'm the Juggernaut, bit-h". I couldn't believe it that's the funniest thing in the whole movie. You're probably a little confused at the moment so I'll explain: In 2005 "My Way" parodies did a dub-over of the original X-Men movie that featured the Juggernaut mostly saying that phrase whenever he opens his mouth and the word must have made it's way up to the script writers. Original video: http://mywayentertainment.smartvideochannel.com/media/playvideo.aspx?f=flash7&cid=D1C297BF10BA4F7398D3158BDC8FC737 ://http://mywayentertainment.smartvide...D3158BDC8FC737 (contains sexual refs and crude laguage/humour).
Anyway, on the way back from uni today I walked down the hill (it's more like a corridor where they were going to build a road between the houses but then thought better of it) like I usually do when I get off the bus and there was this roo just there grazing at the bottom of the hill. I managed to get within about 10 metres before it bounced off. It's good to see wildlife still around, but I believe that's thanks to the golf course.

We've had some wonderful showers here on the north side of Brisbane too....pretty happy to be getting anything really. happy.gif

We got a little over the past few days down on the coast, but mostly just teasing showers. We had a good half-hour downpour last night while I spent half an hour walking home because it would take even longer than my regular bus to get me back home. Two things you can't trust: the weather and public transport rolleyes.gif, but the Happy Feet soundtrack saw me through with a spring in my step (at least until my ears got waterlogged). Plus rain is rain and it was a good thing to feel, I'd forgotten how sweet it tasted. Oh and I found something out earlier tonight, when I was opening my invite to a friend's 18th in one of those peel-n-seal envelopes in pitch back walking down the stairs, I thought I saw a speck of light when I was opening a corner, did it again lo, a little spark between the two sheets. I guess it was static because it looked like when you use the HV transformer on your old CRT monitor as a power source for...whatever (as you do) and you have the corona from the ionised particles around the end of the wire, except less purple and more white.

John and I went and saw Pirates of the Carribean World's End on Sunday night at the Drive IN, yes we still have one of those at a place called Wonga, which is out in the middle of nowhere, except for some rural properties and the Drive In. It was a very quiet night, besides our car there were only 4 other cars there. Most people take chairs and sit out in the open, which is what we usually do, but this time with a couple of extra jackets and a blanket. Earlier in the day it rained, but it cleared up to watch the movie.

I can't say that I thought it was the best one at all. Would have to say enjoyed the other one better. They had a break half way thru and I thought the second half was a lot better.

Shrek the Third isn't starting in our area until June the 7th, as that is when I thought it was going public nationally, must be out of touch when it starts.

Wishing you all more rain soon.

Jane

Thanks Justin we have had some rain, heavy patchy showers, for the first time in I don't know how long.

It has been muggy at times even today, which suggests that ther may be some more on the way.

Update fog in the morning, gee I love fog on the coast.

I doubt that the catchments have had too much, but we can hope.

Yesterday I went base over apex, I was talking to my wife, whilst having a big slug of coffee, it went down the wrong way, and I choked.

I was sitting on a mobile office chair, unable to get my breath (have the flu too, so the sinuses were blocked) I ran out of air and passed out, the chair scooted out behind me, and I landed flat out on the tiles, hitting my head on the table on the way.

The end result! One black eye, a gash in my forehead, and bruises almost everywhere, I woke up on the floor with one very concerned wife hovering, not knowing quite what to do, today I am as sore as Hxll, but otherwise fine.

A.F where were you when I needed you in your little nursie outfit? Next week I believe we play the bombers, so I don't really know who will not be talking to who? Meanwhile go Redan.

We've had heaps of rain here....20mm I think they said, whatever, it sure was a lot, and more to come they say.

Geez Pete, what are you doing to poor Sally, you probably darn near gave her a heart attack. LOL....my sympathy is with her.
Seriously, glad you're okay. It could have been very serious. Have you considered using a straw? harhar.gif

Talking about accidents, I nearly knocked myself out the other day, playing with the dog in the backyard, i ran to pick up the ball and ran smack bang into the pole on the clothes line. Got me right above my right eyebrow. I fell down, put my hand to my head, and in that short instant there was a lump the size of a golf ball. It progressed to the size of a tennis ball, and I had a massive headache. We actually took pics of the lump, because as we are renting, we had complained to the agent that the clothes line wouldn't go up, and being 5' 7" it is just too low for me. They checked it out 2 days later, and now 6 weeks or so down the track, they have done nothing. So I told Daryl to take pictures of it in case anything happened to me....it didn't, but you can never be sure.

GO BOMBERS!!!!

Geez everyone's been in the wars lately, the drought must be sending us off the deep end. Actually who coined that phrase, shouldn't it be, "into the deep end", or maybe it means that you're so far into the deep end you've gone off the chart. But I digress, with no more until until the exam block, along with studying for my finals I'm going to try to get a little business for my monitor after spending a number of hours rewriting a horrendous script that really wasn't worth that US$15 (let's just hope it pays for itself smile.gif). Any pointers?
On another note, after exactly three weeks of non-exercise (read "torture") my fitness has decreased significantly according to the Dance Dance Revolution fitness benchmarks. It's really frustrating, I'm sorry I just gotta let it all out.

That's a great relief, Peach. smile.gif

For the record, we had a good lot of rain here in the UK the last couple of days. May has been a little bit colder than usual but then we were confused by a very warm April. It almost seems like the two months decided to swap around this year. We'll wait and see what June is like.

Now.....to get serious......what is it with everybody in Oz? I do hope you can all start looking after yourselves a little bit better or we might have to send some troops over or something. doh.gif

It's going to be embarrassing for me to say, "Yes, I know some people in Australia - they're quite easy to spot because they all have broken limbs or massive lumps on their heads." rolleyes.gif

About Bob

G’day.
You’ve no doubt read a lot of things about me and my books over the years written by other people. Well, this is the truth. I grew up in Bondi in Sydney, Australia. I went to Bondi Beach Public School then on to Randwick Boys High. I left school at 14, did a few odd jobs then a trade as a butcher, mainly in the Eastern suburbs before finally working as a boner in various meatworks around the inner city with two trips to Ross River meatworks at Townsville, Queensland thrown in. I gave up boning after a hindquarter fell on me tearing the tendons in my right arm. I always liked writing letters and reading, so while I was on worker’s compensation I did three writing courses at the WEA, Worker’s Education Authority.

Now wonder you thought of the Pete. Our Global's introduction and avid participation to this crazy world of making money on the internet was born under similar circumstances... What else could he do?? Something to while away the time and letting his arm heal.

I have written down the name in my little black book, and next time I am at the library I will look him up.. LOL I mean see if I can get one of his books. I haven't read a decent novel in quite some time.. about four or five years actually. I used to read myself to sleep each night, now I fall asleep in front of my computer.. LOL Boy have I got to get a life!!

I usually go to the club on a Friday afternoon/night, but no one was able to give me a lift this week, so I guess I will hang out until next week.

Dorky,
The best thing to do is go to the website, and start at the beginning.
I have been banned from reading any Les Norton books in bed, because I scream with laughter and wake up the little woman, oops I nearly typed women blush.gif

If you like to laugh, and you like your heroes to be warts and all, Les is your man.

Only click on the link if you can handle looking at scars!
My poor wife has had to put up with me at home for 9 months now and she refers to me as her 4th child....... doh.gif

Nice scar Mark!!

I hate to tell you this, but in Qld 60-70 mm is just a shower.

The best I have seen is 10" in 20 minutes, just north of Cairns. Our whole landscape was shaped by heavy rain, so it just runs off mainly out to sea.

I'm glad you put that scar picture in a link, GP. biggrin.gif

It put me right off my dinner when I saw it - must have been a sore one.

Hope everybody is improving healthwise and enjoying a nice weekend. smile.gif peace.gif

Nice Global, but what you really need to do now is make up a cool story to impress the blokes in the pub smile.gif. Actually I had the weirdest dream last night, I dreamt that instead of logging into my online bank account, it somehow went to yours and not only did you have 60 thousand dollars invested in HYIP, you'd donated $15k to charities (aren't you nice). Don't worry, I decided that I wouldn't take anything, so I logged of your "dreammoney" account. happy.gif

I live in a very small town near Echuca which has less then 1,500 people in it so by the time i got to the pub every man and there dog already had the gossip on my arm and i wish that i did have an account balance like the one in your dream........... w00t2.gif

Yes i showed my wife and she reminded me that some people just can't handle that type of thing so i changed it straight away!

My arm is a bit of a disaster, the first thing that my surgeon said to me was "i don't like operating on these ones" and when i asked why, he told me " that they (legion on my ulnar nerve)are renowned for re-occurence and or just not working"........ doh.gif

It has been about 9 months since a half of my left hand went numb and 6 months since i had the operation and my surgeon says that i won't know how good it will be until 12 months after the operation, i am only back at work 2 hours a day and i can hardly do anything as i am on pain killers every waking hour.

I am very lucky though as i have a wonderful wife and three great kids so i am still very upbeat and don't let my silly arm get me down, lets face it there's a lot of people in the world with real problems!

Have a good weekend everybody.......... thumbup(1).gif

She is certainly a real sweetie, does she take after her mum??

I don't have kids myself, but I have a just turned 11 year old neice who thinks she
is 21 or more, and a big too big for her boots at times.

I have just posted my 1st ever avatar, after joining photobucket
which is our house that we will eventually put up for sale. So to
your question Cheryl, we arn't any closer yet in moving to England,
as John has decided to renovate the bathroom now. We were going to
leave it, but he decided that he would go ahead and do it. As we have an
old claw foot bath, which he still has to renovate yet, but we bought
a 900mm shower cubicle 4 years ago, and it is nearly finally in. It
was just a shame that he had to pull up the old terrazzo floor, which
I really liked, but when we had the house moved here 4.5 years ago
it cracked in a few different places.

I hope your arm heals well GP, just give it time to mend.

My hubby John had his arm snapped in 2 back in 1989,
when using a lathe, he was a welder, and had his welding gloves on, when the
foreman asked him to do something on the lathe (which wasn't his job at all),
didn't think to take his gloves off (and yes he is usually is a very intelligent person)
so the lathe grabbed his glove and pulled his arm into the lathe, I think he said
he tried to hit the brake, but it wasn't working, so put it into reverse to get his
arm out. Apparently his arm was just hanging down, he snapped it between the
wrist and his elbow. But to make matters worse, about 24 hours after the operation
to put plates and screws in, he started to loose his pulse in his hand, and he had
just had dinner, so they had to cut his arm back open without putting him under,
because of him just eating, it was either that or loosing his hand. John can
handle a lot of pain, but he said he screamed blue murder, and apologise to the
nursing staff later on. But he used to call the doctor the Butcher after that.

He regained all of his strenght back in the arm, but where the scars are which are 2
down two sides of his arm, he has no feeling, he says it is numb, and always feels
strange. He was never ever paid any compensation for his pain or his scaring, but
he went back to work when it was mended and had the plates and screws out. He
has kept them as part of a reminder, but the scars on his arm are the biggest reminder
he can have, and are very noticable, but we just see it as a part of him and don't
notice them at all any more.

Well the sky was kinda a blue a little while ago, but now its come over grey again. We
had a few drops yesterday, but we are lucky all of our tanks are full, and the dam
has plenty of water for any wildlife that might need some.

Have a good weekend to whats left of it.

Jane

Wow Jane, i'm glad that John has come through with only scars and a bit of numbness as it sounds like he could of lost a limb if things had of went the wrong way.

I am almost 99% certain that my operation was unsuccessful and at this point i don't care if i never get the feeling back in my two fingers and hand i would just like the pain to go away!

The only way that i can describe it is to say that it is like having a tooth ache in my elbow every waking hour, thank god for pain killers!

Oh well enough of the gloom and doom talk, i'm going to play with the kids.

Hi GP

Here is a home remedy for things that ache that was given to me by an older friend.
I tried it and I would like to say it worked, as I have a crook knee that gives me a lot
of grief at times.

Most people have these ingredients at home.

Take
1 part tea tree oil
1 part Eucalyptus oil
1 part olive oil
1/2 part vanilla essence (why the vanilla essence I don't know)

put into a container shake it all about, then apply to the sore area, it does feel a little
sticky, but I just keep on massaging it in until it stops feeling sticky. If it doesn't work
or give some relief, at least you will smell nice. By the way it didn't work straight away,
but I kept'd on applying it 3 times a day for a week, and finally got some relief. Maybe
it was prue coincidence. I also apply it to my right hand and wrist where I have carpal tunnel, and find it does give it some relief as well, doesn't cure it but it certainly does help.

I hope it might help, it certainly won't cure the pain, but if it gives a little relief I would
be glad to help.

Jane

Iappologize in changing the subject here at the moment... but I am sooooooooooo excited..

BREAKER! BREAKER! IT IS RAINING HERE!!!

Whaoooooooooooooooooooo..... yahoo.gif yahoo.gif

Can you tell I am excited.....

I don't know how much, definately not drought breaking, but some relief.... I can see water running into my tank, and the noise on my shed roof is pounding... ever I can hear that! Probably won't last long, but at least it is something..

I am off, to make sure it is going into my tank.. it might be blocked with leaves or something...
