Hi Guys, I'm Back

Thank you all for your well wishes that was very nice of you all.

Got home the other evening as I kind of said I had had enough and wanted to go home.

It certainly wasn't a picnic, had a dreadful time with those IV's, as one of them tissued into
my hand and arm for an hour and a half, but didn't realise as the penicilin I knew could hurt
a bit, but my arm was in agony and I was nearly prepared to rip it out my self, when the nurse
finally had time to come and see me. That one was the 2nd one and when after not even 24 hours
later the 3rd one had problems they decided not to give me anymore. The head honcho IV lady said
she wasn't prepared to in flick any more pain on me. I don't blame her as the doctor who did the
last one, asked me if I was going to hit him, I said I didn't believe in violence.

It was an absess which I constantly get every summer, but sometimes they just get down right
nasty and oral medication won't fix the problem. As last friday morning at 8am when I went into
emergency, they took 4.5 hours before a doctor saw me, then put me on gas, which I don't recon
was turned up enough, then stuck a local in then cut me straight away without giving the local
time to work, and it certainly wasn't pretty nor was I happy, poor hubby watched the whole thing.
So 6 days later I came home.

Once before when I was in Gympie hospital for 10 days, I ended up writing above my bed. post-36326-1110185726.gif

IF I THANK YOU FOR STICKING A NEEDLE IN ME, PLEASE NOTE THAT I DON'T REALLY MEAN IT.

Anyway enough of my sulky saga.

What has everyone been upto??

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend out there. Next week before Easter I am
heading up to my sister's for Easter, so it will be nice to catch up with her, as she and her
hubby have been down in Tassie for a holiday.

Take care all and wishing you a soon wet day.

Well, just had to tell you all about the day I had.........

Today my husband (Daryl) and I decided we'd take the kids swimming at the local heated pool.

On the way we both realised we had no money on us, so I asked him to stop so I could get some money from the ATM.

So he double parks, I get out, withdraw the money, and as I'm walking back to the car I am checking my receipt to check our bank balance. I could see some money was on hold, and was puzzled by this, so my mind is ticking away trying to think what we have bought that would put a hold on this money.

So, I get in the car, sit down, close the door, (all the while looking at this receipt) and a man says " Well, hello there".....ROFLMAO I had got into the wrong car. Daryl had moved because he was doubled parked.

Talk about shock, I looked at him, got straight out, closed the door, then thought....hang on.....and looked back in. Nope, that definately wasn't Daryl blush.gif

The whole time I didn't speak a word to him, and when I found where Daryl and the kids were, they were in absolute hysterics, had watched the whole thing.

So somewhere in Ballarat this man will be telling his mates about this ' probably simple woman' who got into his car....... rofl4.gif

I still can't believe I did it.

Oh, and the bank balance thing.....well, rang the bank, someone has ' infiltrated' our Visa debit card.
diablo.gif
Had to get my card cancelled, and now have to dispute the charges. This is the second time they have done it, but the first time I have noticed it.

Its just after 5am and I have been up since 4.00am, and I tell you what Cheryl you have given me the best laugh in a long time after having some bad dreams early this morning. rofl4.gif rofl4.gif rofl4.gif The guy must
have thought his luck had changed for the better.

But I am sorry to hear about your credit card, what a pain in the butt having to cancel and go and prove
that you didn't make the spends. I don't know why people have to lie and cheat in this world.

Well I am off to my sisters for easter, hence getting up so early to do a few things.

By the way there are a couple more free sites for advertising your house for sale if anyone is interested.

http://owner.com.au
http://www.realrealestate.com.au
http://www.countrysales.com.au

I have put our place on these ones so hopefully somewhere down the track even though our place isn't
ready for viewing, someone might just see it and be interested and I can save on some commission. As every little extra penny will help when we move to England.

The country sales one, you can advertise just about anything for free except cars as they have one called
countrycars.com and it costs $33 to place an ad and run it until its sold.

I hope you all have a wet, safe and happy Easter and please everyone take care on the roads.

with all the horrific predictions associated with our diminishing water sources, I'm seriously entertaining the thought of finding somewhere else to live besides Brisbane before we supposedly run out of water,
Any suggestions from anyone?

Justin you could buy our place, we have 3 tanks and a big dam. rofl4.gif nearly 4 acres, nice
and green and we do get rain here sometimes, nice for someone who wants a tree change
and only half an hour from Tin Can Bay.

But not enough employment unless you are a trades person, there never seems to be
enough trades people around here. As it seems that Gympie to Maryborough are growing
at a rapid pace. We are nearly half way between.

I have been told that anyone that applies for the rebate on water tanks, the government is
going to keep tabs on them and charge them accordingly, talk about big brother watching us.

Maybe the water wasters will get hit with extra charges, but in the end, if there is no water, then
they won't be wasting it any more.

Surely someone out there knows how to do a rain dance.

Catch you all later

Sounds nice to me Jane...it must be sad to know you are leaving it.

One thing i have noticed recently re the drought, is the dust!!
We don't have lawns anymore, just dirt. And the dust this makes.......has anyone else noticed this?
Every day I have to clean up all this dirt covering everything in the house, it's just terrible. Must be having terrible effects on the people with asthma and respiratory problems.

Haven't been reading your ramblings for a long time and had to go through many pages to catch up.

It's always so entertaining to read your posts though the lack of water saddens me while living in a country
with no such worries. I sure hope that you will get your share of rain next winter.

Cheryl, you gave me a good laugh telling about your adventures at the ATM and I remembered a same kind
of a story told by a friend from while back.

A couple had been parking outside a shop and the lady went in to buy bread while her husband was waiting
in the car. She had been eating something not very suitable and had severe gas problems and while in shop she had had trouble keeping the gas in. She bought the bread and hurried to the car, threw the bread package to the back seat and eased herself by letting the gas out with sound and sighed in relief: 'Aaah, that was relieving!' At the same time she gave a look at her husband and realized that it wasn't her husband, only the car was similar. She sure knew her way out in lightning leaving behind the terrible smell, the flabbergasted man and the bread on the back seat. w00t2.gif

Well, considering how common those troubles nowadays with all the junk food etc. are, I would assume
that these things must happen almost everywhere. Would happen to me if I had normal milk or beans on toast as the good ole British seem to have for tea every other day. post-69220-1110229459.gif

Hi Raija

This is the 1st time I have spoken to you, but I loved your story the other day. And please don't
apologise for saying what you want here at the Aussie Thread, as that is what it is all about. This
is what I love about the Aussie Thread where we can have a chit chat and not talk about surfing,
which is something I don't do anymore, but come here to see what is happening with some
of the wonderful people out there and listen to their stories, whether they are Aussie or not.

As Far as I can see it, everyone is welcome here with or without a story, so nothing really is ever
off or on topic.

Talk about silly car incidents. About 26 years ago I was doing some Xmas shopping at Stockland
Mall in Merrylands Sydney, and I owned a 1973 Mustard VW Fastback, I was looking for my
VW in the car park, and spotted it so with all my shopping I got back to my VW and had problems
with the key in the lock, and all I could think was not again, as I had been having problems
with it, then I spotted that I hadn't winded up the window all the way, so pushed the window down
just enough that I could get my arm in and pull the lock up. Anyway after getting in I threw
my shopping over on the back seat, then turned around to put the key in the ignition and then
turned back as I didn't reconise the other stuff on the back seat, then looked further and thought
hey this isn't my car, I then looked out the window and about 3 cars up was another VW Fastback
the exact same colour etc, and was horrified that I had actually broken into someone elses car.
I don't think I had ever moved so quick getting out, post-69220-1110229459.gif winding up the window to where it had been
left before, locking the door and getting out so very quickly and very red faced and was looking
to see if the owners were around with maybe the police in tow, and thank goodness they weren't
as I would have had a lot of explaining to do. rofl4.gif

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Jane

Another funny story rofl4.gif

I think most people have mistaken someone else's car for their own at some stage, but you got in etc......lol you must have been dreadfully embarrassed.

I've been really sick with a cold the past few days....Daryl is off to work shortly, and my mum is taking Travis and Rhianna to the pictures, so I am going to take advantage and have an afternoon snooze.

Cheryl
nenumphar
@ Jane, thank you! You seem to continue the long line of nice Aussies I've began to know here smile.gif

I also have almost broken into a car similar to ours. And it was also during Christmas shopping. We all went our ways and I just popped at the car to leave some shoppings in there. I looked at the back seat and wondered how the heck the others had managed to get in the car to leave shoppings there because I was the one having the only key. When the key then didn't fit the door it occurred to me that this might not be our car.

@ Cheryl, take good care of yourself! Hope you will soon recover. There has also been a lot of flu in my family this winter and it seems so tough that it lasts weeks. I have been having a quite sexy voice for a few days because of a throat infection and my husband has been sneezing for over a week now.

Have a nice weekend everyone! Summer is knocking here at the Northern corners of the world and despite the little flu I FEEL GREAT! Hope you all feel great too! cheer12.gif

Nenumphar, we don't all have beans on toast every night in the UK. Sometimes we eat other things. tongue4.gif
Sorry to hear you were down with the flu. Maybe you've been having colder weather. The weather here has been great recently, sunny and warm.

Great car stories, folks, absolutely hilarious. rofl4.gif

The other night I went to visit one of my friends on the other side of town to watch the Champions League football on TV. Recently my friend has been getting visits from his neighbour's cat. He lets the cat in late in the evening and gives it something to eat, then puts the cat out for the night.

After the football the cat came in and got fed as usual. At about 11 o'clock, it was time for me to go home. My friend put the cat out and remembered he had to put the bin out for the next day. I stood at the car, leaning on the open door and chatting as he brought the bin out. We then said cheerio, I got in the car and started to reverse, looked round to see where I was going and suddenly saw the cat standing on the back seat. Fortunately when I opened the door, it just jumped out.

On the way home I couldn't help thinking what might have happened if I hadn't noticed it straightaway. Would the cat have made it back from one side of the town to the other? Worse still, if the cat had suddenly made its presence known halfway home, what would my reaction have been? I'd probably have got such a fright that I'd have gone off the road.

Anyway, all's well that ends well. smile.gif peace.gif

aussiefox
Hi Cake smile.gif

If that cat is fairly typical, you would have known as soon as the car started to move that it was there hehe, they make the most horrific noise, and quite likely would have jumped on you, all claws out and ready tongue4.gif

Lucky you saw it before you took off!!

Well, after a great 2 first games, I was devasted by the results of the footy yesterday sad.gif .

My Mum and stepfather went to the game (as they do most weeks). They were, unfortunately for them, sitting next to the Carlton cheer squad. Mum said she has never in her life seen or heard anything like it. An Essendon supporter near Mum had a young boy, and he left the game in tears after copping abuse from the Carlton mob. And that's just one example. Mum said she was actually quite scared at times. A security guard approached her, and other Essendon supporters near her, and told them not to worry, they were making their presence felt, and would make sure no body got hurt!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to any decent Carlton fans who may be reading this, but shame on the Carlton cheer squad ban.gif

This game was actually to be my 8 year olds first AFL game, but due to having a cold he couldn't go. Just as well, Mum said he would have been too scared to ever go again!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you are feeling better soon Cheryl.

Its very sad when sports fans take their support too far and forget that there are kids and
decent folk at these events. A bit of fun in jesting is ok, but it sounds like things were
taken too far. I am too glad that your 8 year old couldn't go and listen to all the rubbish
that was taking shape.

My sister and her husband went down to the cricket when it was on in Brisbane a while back,
and she said the police were everywhere to quieten down the aussies, she said the best
part of the cricket were the barmy army from England, said even though they were roudy
and very funny and entertaining, it seems the aussies were the worst behaved.

Well we are off to the drive in tonight with the neighbours and a few lions members for a social
night out. Apparently at this drive in you don't sit in your cars you take your deck chairs and
enjoy the open air. Should be different.

Hope you all had a nice weekend

Jane

It's very sad that fans nowadays get overly excited and then act like no moral at all. It is common in every sport where big masses of people gather to support their own. It is actually a very funny phenomenon that those who don't participate in the real action are more excited than the players themselves.

Cake, I apologize if I offended blush.gif wasn't my intention, it was more likely ment for a joke, sorry. Your cat strory was fun but really, can't think what would have happened if you hadn't noticed him before heading to the traffic. Weird cat anyway ohmy.gif

As to weather in Finland: today has been the most warmest day of this spring. It's almost like summer. As of now ( 5 pm) the thermometer shows +19 celcius, which is really warm at this stage of spring, at least I can never remember having temperatures like this this early. But... it has been forecasted that during next week we will fall back to more normal srping weathers. I wouldn't have minded to have summer already. But you can't always choose...

Jane, you seem to have an interesting evening ahead. Hope you enjoy it!

Cheryl, have you already recovered from the cold? I hope so.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

I was in the supermarket yesterday, in the 8 items or less aisle.

In front of me was a very old lady, 80 if she was a day. I was thinking to myself how sprightly she was, and how perfectly well groomed. She stood upright, and spoke beautifully (telling me how well behaved my children were rolleyes.gif ) . In her hand she had two products, a bottle of bleach, and something else. When it was her turn to be served she went all dithery, and appeared confused, and was saying she wanted to return her bottle of bleach. The woman at the register seemed annoyed, and told her very bluntly, that when you wanted to return something you didn't come through the register, you went to the front desk. She said it three times, loudly, and I was embarrassed for the old lady. The woman at the register then asked for a receipt, to refund the money. The old lady fiddled around in her purse, quite concerned because she couldn't find the receipt, and looked very vague. In the end she said, oh well then, I'll just take the bleach back home. She paid for the other item, then off she went. I watched her as she got into her car and drove off.

I was taking all this in, because I thought, well obviously she is in the early stages of dementia. Having looked after people with dementia for many many years, I know the signs, what to look for etc. What didn't make sense was the perfect grooming, - she had matching clothes, lovely shoes, her hair was set with a comb in it, nice handbag etc. And of course, she was driving.

Anyway, when she'd gone, the lady at the register, who I had decided by now was quite mean, and intentionally intimidating, said to me that this lady did this all the time, at least once a day. She was quite sure that she was stealing the goods that she always said she wanted to exchange.

LOL.....just goes to show, never judge a book by its cover. A con artist at her best!!!

My husband and I have just bought an onsite van at Lake Fyans Victoria (at the base of the Grampians). It is really lovely, with 3 rooms, sleeps 6, and came with everything in it. And it is only 1 1/2 hours from home, so close enough for myself and the kids to go to, when Daryl is working. We should have the keys by the end of April. I am so excited, it is such a beautiful peaceful place. And the lake has enough water in it to take out a boat, and fish, ski whatever!! w00t2.gif

On ya Cheryl!

Gotta share a story with you regarding a checkout experience I had a few months back.....

I usually buy my cat food (she's a fastidious princess) from Coles and her cat litter etc. It most often amounts to 10-12 items.
One particularly blonde day I managed to get 13 items instead and didn't notice.
So....I went through the 12 items or less, and as the items were going through the scanner I heard a person behind me counting: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13!!!!!
13!!!!

"He has 13 items!!!!"

Surprised as ever that I'd made a mistake of taking 1 too many items through, I turned around and was face to face with this lady in her 60's who had a look of pure evil on her face while grinning a psychotic toothy smile of utter diabolical madness.
I was quite certain she was about to disembowel me at the supermarket checkout, such was her ferocity.

I looked at the checkout girl who looked at the lady, then me, then the lady again and she compassionately said 'He's alright....'
I turned back to the lady who looked frozen with pure hateful evil written all over her face.

Since I'm pretty sensitive and very shy in public, I felt like I wanted to vomit, I was feeling very light-headed as well.

I went home and was totally confounded by human nature that day...especially psycho-grannies.

Anyways, you enjoy your van at the lake...sounds beautiful!

Oh what a lady! You really can't tell the book by it's covers. Maybe the lady
don't have enough other excitements in her life so she has to endanger her
life with something like that. Some say cleptomania is a desease but you never know.

Congrats on your purchase! May you have many relaxing moments by the lake!

Most of our checkout chicks would have problems counting to 12, However we do have one lady in her 50's on the checkout counter, and unfortunately she knows everybody in town, their kids, and all the details, if she is ever on the 12 or less register, forget it, head for the others.

On another note, we are having some superb Autumn weather, we don't always get an Autumn, and even though we are desperate for some rain, it is hard not to feel really good with this kind of weather, 26-28C daytime Max, down as low as 15C at night.

Cheryl, the Grampians is a wonderful area, great walking trails, and a naturally very beautiful part of the world, I really envy you.

Talking about your days to come at the lake Aussiefox makes me very envious of you and your family. We still have had no rain, and with winter looming there is not much chance of any now either.

I am currently trying to work out where I will move to as I have to leave my property. The kids have put the pressure on me to live in town as they don't like the idea of me living in the scrub and they put it. Darn city slickers... no offence to those that live in cities, but when you have spend the best part of your life in the bush, how do you get used to living in town. I am not sure whether to buy a small house or an apartment. I like the idea of having some friends visit me and I welcome them to stay, but maybe a yard would be too much for me to handle. Then again I really don't want to move at all, but I can tell that they aren't going to take no for an answer..

Justin, I am with you on the 12 items of less checkouts.... I just tell them I can't count.. Has worked a dream for me for years..

I'm sorry to hear that Dorky, it must be so hard for you to have to move. I am a ' city slicker' born and bred in Melbourne. At 26 I moved to a small town and lived there for 18 years, declaring I could never live in suburbia again, and most definately couldn't cope with neighbours. BUT, having now been in suburbia for 8 months, it is not so bad as you might think. In fact I love it. Life is so much easier in so many ways, so I know where your kids are coming from. Hopefully if you move into town, you will find it easier to adapt than you think you will. The thought of doing it will be so much worse than actually doing it. Once you have moved, and settled in, you may find you enjoy it. I certainly hope so. For certain, your children have your best interests at heart, and it is nice they care so much. Not all children do.
Anyway, good luck, and I look forward to hearing about your move.

Hey Justin

What you should have done is said you were helping out your other 12 friends who were
in the queue with you and thought you would use the 1 basket and then preceeded to pay
for each item seperately. That certainly would have anoyed her but made you feel much better, especially if you added a crazy laugh to it as well.

Still getting used to all the forum changes...anyway good to see the Aussie thread is still here.

Thanks for the supermarket stories, Cheryl and Justin, they gave me a good laugh.
I can just imagine the check-out rage of the supermarket grannies with the "He has 13 items!!!" rofl4.gif rofl4.gif - brilliant, sounds like a Monty Python sketch.

Your holiday van sounds great, Cheryl, I'm sure you'll enjoy that.

I wish you luck, Dorky, on your move to the city, if you decide to go. There are always pros and cons in something like that.
I have often wondered about moving to somewhere in the country again but I think I've realised that where I am is just fine. I'm ten minutes drive from the city centre and, being only two streets from the edge of town, I'm only five minutes drive from walking in the hills. Plus the weather in the east of Scotland is always better than the west, where they get a lot of rain (I know you guys could use it) - we get enough rain to avoid droughts but not so much that we have to walk about with webbed feet. peace.gif smile.gif

For shame Justin, I've been on the other side of those orders, but it beats being on non-express any day. The most I've let go through when I was on express was 130 items, mostly cat food.

Random question, who apart from Dorky and myself is from SE QLD?
