Backpage.com is a pretty good place to place free classified ads.

its not as good as craigslist but it is gaining popularity fast and I get tons of page views and adsense clicks from traffic that comes from Backpage.

Try it out for yourself.

I have used backpage.com, and I think it *will* soon be somewhere near as popular as craigslist. So far, I do not get the amount of traffic through there that I do through craigslist, but I don't find the rules to be quite as restrictive (ey), either.

I also use http://wantedwants.com and http://www.inetgiant.com although I have not has as much luck with those as far as people clicking through there.

I have used http://adlandpro.com as well, with some success. Sometimes it's disheartening to use the freebie sites because the number of ads that you're competing with is so much greater. But I'll usually spend the time, if the site is free.

I agree. Backpage is picking up momentum, however, not as good as CL at this point. But, it also doesn't have the limits either (at least not as of yet). I think as long as people do not spam it like they do CL, it will grow bigger and be a great place to advertise your business or affiliate programs.

Backpage is so much easier to use than cl, they've gotten kinda grumpy over there. Now you have to have a phone number tied to each email address that you use. Keeps you down to only posting 3 ads per email address.

I go on backpage every few days and post, also another site similar is phinditt.com, seems to be just taking off, and you can post one ad to 3 different cities at a time. Makes posting a little quicker.

I tried posting on backpage but it's nowhere near the traffic craigslist provides. I don't think I will waste my time on backpage until it picks up.

I think backpage is pretty good and not like craigslist where it;s impossible to post ad without getting flag.

I,ve been using Backpage for a long time and I have always posted my ads in the correct categories. The problem with these ad sites including Backpage and Craigs list is the self proclaimed ad police always delete your ads within minutes. My take on this is they want their ad to be up front or some of these ad cops are just jerks. I've never gotten decent results from any. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?

I am sorry guys but BackPage will never catch up with Craigslist.
Craigslist has a traffic ranking of 10 in the USA.
I have generated thousands of dollars using Craigslist since 2007.
Backpage is good but it's no where near Craigslist.

Thanks for the information.

I love Backpage! It's provided me with a ton of leads over the past 6 months. If your ads are written well and you use a capture page, backpage will produce leads for anyone.

Thanks for the info, I tired of craiglist strict rule already.

Backpage is still a good resource. But, one has to know how to use it for their gain. The correct ads that people are likely to respond to and what format people are attracted to. People look at what is helping them in the long run. You have to give something of value to help their bottom line. And if you are another sales pitch or capture page to just add to your list or profitable gain...people see right through that. Give and ye shall receive always the best solution to marketing, building those relationships that is what it is all about:)

I agree, Backpage doesn't have as much traffic as CL but posting and having an account is much more less of a hassle.

Didn't really work for my niche, but you have the benefits of unlimited posts unlike Craigslist who restrict you to three a day!

You need to post a lot ads daily...in many different major cities...also keep posting through out the day in the same cities1
