Laptops are seemingly outselling desktop computers now. So, which do you use, or do you have both?
realist
Meant to say that I just use a desktop.

This is my first time having a laptop and am running windows vista. Really like it better so I vote for the laptop! So much easier for me!

I have switched to using just my laptop. My desktop is just there to look pretty now.
wangjinhk
Both, and I prefer laptop beacuse you can use it almost anywhere, anytime.

I personally use both at home and work. The convenience of using a laptop is great for work when I am away from the office and at home sitting infront of the TV. Though I also use a desktop for both home and work It is useful to have a place to work away from distractions and also have all the peripherals and ect. attached to like printers, scanners, ect.

I'm comfortable using both. Though laptop gives the mobility, at least for me a desktop is like a place to sit and work. I usually swap depending on how long I've been using either one.
ChesterEt
I've always used a desktop, I can't imagine using a laptop after so many years with a desktop.

DELL LAPTOP lildevil.gif

At first, the laptop was not my fav. I had gotten used to the desktop set-up we had, the keys, mouse, etc. But, for the last couple of years, I have "adjusted" to our laptop. I can type better and we got a mouse for it. So, now I am strictly laptop. The only drawback is our battery stinks and we need to keep it plugged in all the time. One of these days we'll get around to getting a new battery and I will be portable again. LOL

Laptop is best.....

Laptops are the best way to do business on the go, although many smart phones these days are pretty good for quick communication and business when in a crunch.

Smartphone, 2 laptops and a work pc.

I must admin I love my Small Laptop on the go, but use my bigger laptop Mostly! Smartphones are really there as a last resort for me... and as for Office pc.. well Printing at home is quite expensive tongue4.gif

I've voted both, but to be honest i much prefer to use my desktop machine. mainly because it is better specced and has 2 screens.
although it is a lot harder to move it around.
livethewayyouwant
Right now I use a desktop for the most part . But i' m going to get Apple laptop to take out on road with me!
Reilly22
I haven't used a desktop in a long time.

Laptops are affordable now, fast if you get a good one, and so much handier - even if you only want to work in a different room rather than take your computer on a trip, it's so much handier.

I'm sure laptops will continue to sell more relative to the numbers of desktops selling. As a personal computer especially. In some work places, where there's no need to move the machine, and for ultra-fast computer needs, desktops will continue to sell, I'm sure. But for everything else... laptop all the way...

I'm guilty of the original topic.

We have 5 laptops and 0 desktops at this time.

With technology increases my laptops do everything my desktops once did and the prices are competitive as well. For $1200-$1400 the new HP dual or quad core laptop can handle everything from video processing/editing to high intensity video gaming.

I was in the process of building a monster Desktop PC.....but unless you are running a Server.....Laptop is my recommendation, and since I've owned just about every brand here's my take.

1. HP -- currently the fastest and most reliable "storebought" laptops for the price. (You can spend the extra money on Alienware if you.....really need to but generally I find it's a waste of $$)

2. Sony --Overheat......overweight........fan problems....video card problems.....Avoid.

3. Compaq.....reliable....like...a Tank......but not always the best performing.

4. MacBook Pro -- ...well it was my first Mac.....and probably my last. For $2400...my MacBook side by side with my $1200 HP was outperformed in ALL applications. Sure the Mac is lightweight....sheek......and has interesting mousepad features......but PC's aren't really complicated these days and my HP blows the Mac away in all categories of performance....and at HALF the cost? I could have two HPs!!!

I can't decide actually blush.gif

Once upon a time had 20 desktop. These days I manage to survive with just one. Had an awesome workstation, but selling it again for a netbook. Asus 1000H probably with I dunno some netbook Linux distro that looks sweet, while half a year ago was running MSI Windows with Hackintosh, and between ... well myeah. Hobby shall we say? :D

I heard the new Sony Z series are pretty cool ... oh hahaha. Didn't read the topic above mine, I mean cool as in AWESOME! Then again you have to run Windows7 ... no WAY! Then rather have Macbook .. but hardware ain't advanced enough hmm hmm hmm .. when is Chrome OS due? It's time for some OS Competition.

laptop is very easy for me since my work requires me to travel form 1 place to 1 place.
So, laptop is my choice. wink.gif
SuperMoneyGuru
I use a laptop. More portable.
bluezokka
I own both, but for daily use, I prefer Laptop.
My work only require a computer capable of running word processor and browser. So Using a PC will just a waste of power. My laptop only use 30Watt, but my PC uses about 340Watt, go figure
BigB
Both. My desktop is the powerhouse for when I need to do some serious stuff and my laptop is for my casual internet use.
mkgen
after my last desktop died, i bought a laptop because of portability and good value for money. then i simply realized that my old keywboard and monitor could be connected to it and voilą smile.gif
jnabthy
I use a desktop. don't really have much need for portability atm
