This means that search engines won`t give any `value` to any links going from that site to another. It`s mainly in connection with Page Rank.

Hey buddy, then its useless. Social bookmarks sites must allow "do follow" links. Otherwise who one interest in those sites.

many social bookmarking sites have started to become no follow recently. delicious is no follow as is diggs. social bookmarking has become so big that they no longer want to give any of the weight that the site has on search engines to sites backlinking to them. its quite sad.

That is sad, if they're no follow does it still merit linking to it ???

Its my opinion about nofollow tags ,

A website can direct a search engine spider not to follow a link that appears on it. The idea being that the target website's ranking will not influence the website indexed. Nofollow attribute values are most often used on sites with user generated content, like user comments and blogs.
In order to build links on other websites (to increase your search engine rankings), you need to determine if the websites you are attempting to get your site listed on use the "nofollow" tag or not. If the site is "Nofollow" search engines don't follow that link and you don't get any increase in search engine rankings from that link. Because it is important when you are looking for sites and blogs that you could leave your link on (through reciprocal links, commenting on a blog, directory submissions, buying links, etc).
