Step one - Create a cool video. Usually something with scantily clad women will work best. No nudity though of course

Step two - Embed your url at the beginning and end of your video and on the bottom if possible. You can find programs for free onlien which do this

Step three
- Upload to youtube.com as well as other top video sites

Step four
- watch the traffic come in.

It does work. The traffic may not be top quality but if you direct them to a page with adsence or another PPC ad format you will make some dough.

I have used YouTube for years and traffic does follow good effort. I prefer to do a video tutorial on something people will pass around and then link from the description to my website. I get people in forums and communities telling me all the time that they saw me on YouTube.

That's about as wide open as a question can get. I guess the answer is it takes as long as it takes. I can produce a video about 5 minutes long in maybe half a day if I want to be careful and include screen shots, video clips and music intros and outros, but you can whack out a 2 minute quickie in less than an hour.

If you want targeted traffic to your site, you'll need to make a video related to the content of your website. By doing so, the visitors will tend to browse longer than those traffic from else where.

You can use Windows Moviemaker for this also, which is installed on most computers. Another good free program can be found here http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I have been using YT for over a year. I have learned from some of the "gurus" on there. You will get trafiic by using these methods, but there are a few other things that will help you get FREE LEADS and TRAFFIC Chasin YOU.

The 1/2 naked women thing works if you know how to position it to be your thumbnail-but usually doesn't get "quality" traffic unless you run a lingerie or adult site. People DO get pissed off, actually, when they realize the video isn't what they thought.

TIPS:

  • Provide VALUE. Make the video about something that gives value to the viewer.
  • Make your website the FIRST thing in your description and use "http://" to make it a clickable link.
  • Rate and Comment on Other people's videos in your niche'.
  • Use keywords/tags that are highly relelvant to your video content.
  • BRAND YOU---not your company/product/service.

Just some nuggets I have learned along the way. Hope they are useful to someone.

Blessings,
Joy

Very useful Joy and also very true from my own experience.

I might add to make sure you work on a complete profile and include a photo as well as links to your websites. Of course that goes for any social website you frequent.

This is a great guide and I am going to try some of these steps out to see if they work.

Have you or anyone else every used tubemogul.com or trafficgyser.com? It is supposed to automate the process of submitting video but I'm not sure if I want to spend money on it.

I don't have a video camera but I do have a web cam, Is it possible to make a video with that? I know youtube would definitely increase traffic but Untill I have the time to purchase and set up a camcorder I will have to do without. Also is there a way to simply edit a video that's already been made and re submit it to youtube?

You can even use your mobile fone to submit youtube videos, all you need is a fone with good picture and sound quality
a fone like the Nokia N95 or the Nokia N96 will do. You do not have to spend lots of money on equipment before you start marketing

Take care

Here are some tips for getting free traffic from videos, just for you:

1. Keep videos useful, but incomplete.

The inner-filmmaker in everyone wants to deliver their magnum opus to Youtube.

Keep your videos short - two minutes max.

Give away some good info your prospects will want, but at the end of the video, tell them to take an action (ie: visit your website) to get MORE information.

Let’s say you are doing a product review. In your video, you can spend the whole two minutes talking about how you got this product, and it made you $5,000 in two weeks, doing a total 90 minutes of work.
You can show people the checks you got, the product itself, etc. Then, at the end of the video, you can say: “If you want to learn more about the tactics this course taught me, visit my website at…” whatever.

So you show the benefit (useful), and tell the viewer to take an action to find out how you got that benefit and how they can do it too. (incomplete).

2. Plaster Your Website URL On the bottom third.

Put the URL on the bottom 3rd of that video and keep it up on there the WHOLE DANG TIME. I believe video geeks call this the “bottom third” where you take the bottom third part of the video and display your website address on there. Anyone with iMovie can do this, so you should too.

3. Piggy-back off popular videos

Find videos on Youtube that are getting lots of traffic, and create a video response for them. This will show up beneath the video, and you’ll get to siphon off some of that massive traffic that video is getting.

4. Trick The Public

If there’s a super-popular video on Youtube, did you know you can totally trick people into watching your video because they think they’re going to be watching a super-popular video? It’s a very easy trick.

First, you need to know that Youtube takes a screencapture of your video 30 seconds in (or in some cases at the half way mark of your video), if you did not specify one yourself, to be shown next to that video in it’s results listings.

So what you do is this… take a screenshot of the popular video that is the same as the screenshot that shows up next to it in Youtube. (You can do this by pressing CNTRL+PrtScn) Then, you insert this picture as 1 frame of video, 30 seconds into YOUR video (or half way through). Then you upload it to Youtube using the same title, description, etc. as the popular video.
So when people go searching for that popular video, and they click on your version of it, instead of seeing what they want, they’ll see YOUR video.

Is this sneaky? You bet. Is it underhanded? You bet. Will most people click away and leave once they see it’s not what they’re looking for? You bet. But if even a SMALL percentage of people on a video that’s being searched for 1,000,000 times a DAY decide to watch your full video, you’re going to make some sales. Period.

5. Get Listed In The Search Engines

Did you know putting up a video on Youtube can get you top ranking in the search engines for keyword phrases in a matter of hours? it’s true. You just need to know the tricks to writing your descriptions properly, and how to keyword-load your title.

But taking it a step further, you can also get an RSS feed for your Youtube account and ping that sucker at www.pingomatic.com and have search engines from all over crawl your video and INDEX it. So not only do you get listed in Google, but suddenly your video is in Yahoo, MSN, ASK, and all those other lame search engines people use.

Each Youtube user has their own RSS feed, even though YouTube doesn’t advertise it. The format is:

http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/u...ername/uploads

Just replace the part where it says “username” with your own username. (simple, yes?)

Yes, I have used this form of advertising before with good results.
