Hey folks, I wanted to let you know that new toolbar PageRank values should become visible over the next few days. I’m expecting that also in the next few days that we’ll be expiring some older penalties on websites.
Has anyone here noticed a change to your site, up, or down?

Has Yahoo dropped? I`m sure it was PR10 at one time, but just checked on a few of their sites, and they are either PR8, or PR9.

I got PR2 (nothing to 2).. After all the time spent on link building I was thinking they'll give me PR3. Well more link building till next UPDATE
Question .. The PR now .. includes new Google's Page Reputation system ?!

Well, a lot of webmasters would be happy with going from a PR0 to a PR2, well done. It`s always encouraging to see some results from one`s efforts.
Bottom line though, give me a good spot on the first page of Google over a high PR without being `seen.` Admittedly having both would be very nice.
I reckon that good PRs are more useful for selling some sort of advertising, particularly links on a site, (backlink values etc).

this update so sucked :| Google is just giving random values. I've got my best two sites decreased, one for absolutely nofcking reason PR5->PR4 (Got PR5 with about 4k backlinks, now had 18k backlinks from authority site and went back to 4). PR4->PR3, authority domain in a niche, with sitelinks lalala, only one outbound link (the designer's) and 20k natural backlinks from many different sources.
I don't usually sell links, so it wasn't a major hit through.

I had a PR4 site go up to 5, a PR1 got up to 2, a PR3 go up to 4, a PR2 stay the same and a domain that was parked that was PR3 go down to PR2 (that doesn't really surprise me that much) so overall not too bad

There are some ways to change your PR. Does anybody knows them?

It's all about inbound links from other higher PR sites.
In my opinion PR is not really what it's built up to be. Google is using way too many other variables in it's formula now. Back 2-3 years ago PR was much more important. Google new formula's will reward those sites that people click on and stay at, and penalize the sites where people click on them and immediately return to the google search results to find a better match. Just my opinion. If you can build a site that caters to what people are looking for and keep them there, you will see an increase in traffic. If you have a crappy site with no good information which causes people to hit the back button, you will sink in the serps.

I`ve read comments around the forums by some webmasters saying they experienced a PR update yesterday on some of their sites. Mostly a loss in PR.

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is also called the PageRank of E and denoted by PR(E).
The name "PageRank" is a trademark of Google, and the PageRank process has been patented (U.S. Patent 6,285,999 ). However, the patent is assigned to Stanford University and not to Google. Google has exclusive license rights on the patent from Stanford University. The university received 1.8 million shares in Google in exchange for use of the patent; the shares were sold in 2005 for $336 million.
There is an old saying: The higher your PR, the higher your website will rank SERP.
