Hi alec, what was your job before you're retired ?
If you can write, then you should start blogging as it is a great way of earning money especially if you're a professional in certain specific sections..

If you are in the US, you can go to edd.gov and apply for unemployment online. then you get a check every 15 days for the next 6 months.. enough to get some money to start a narrow road to internet business. After being in the affiliate marketing which never gave me a dime, seems home-business is real but could not pay your rent. Maybe selling items on ebay (so much competition) which you get from wholesalers is the most believable...so far...

There are number of things you can do but you have to be creative. Start a blog on a topic that you are passionate about. I started my website listing all the investor resources that I have found useful and it makes me decent money.

You can start writing articles on sites like articlecity.com.

If you know how to build websites than you can find projects on sites like elance.com

If you are willing to work at it then I don't see why not. The key is to treat whatever you decide to do as a real business and not to just try and make a quick buck.

If you are depending on this as a sole source of income, then you need to spread your risk in the early days. By that, I mean mix and match trying out things online as well as doing some local work. Local work could be simply offering your services as a grass-cutter or gardener, or perhaps general handyman. If you can get a part-time real job locally that'd be good too. Then you've got some real money coming in while you're building up what works for you online.

There are many ways to earn good money online, but we can't all take to the same thing. Not everybody has the same experience or interest. What works well for one will not work for another. You need to read a lot and try things out. See what works for you. Set a target of 1-2 years to turn it into a full-time income.

Good luck!

In my opinion is easier to build a lager income online than offline and it definitely can be enough to cover all of your expenses.

There are legit sites in which you can do real work. There are also alot of scams out there. Just do your homework.
I found a site which I just joined and am getting started with it, is odesk.com You pick the type of work you want, like research, writings, computer tech, and they send you the jobs email. You fill out your profile well and extensive so the people hiring can see what you are all about. You have to take and pass a rediness test which means you know the process of the site. There are also hundreds of other tests to take and you can put them on your profile when you pass.
I am just getting started and the jobs look pretty interesting. You might want to take a look.
