I'm wondering if the latest "green" craze will affect the real estate market. Will bedroom/commuter communities lose value? I'm thinking investment opportunities might show up in property that is either urban or near employment zones.

The "green" craze is directly affecting the home remodeling market in austin texas. I do see some of the new home builders pushing better materials, thicker windows, thicker walls, foil backed plywood, better insulation, etc.

I've also seen solar energy stocks fluctuate nicely this year.

I do agree though, the green craze is kinda a fad.

Either way, I hope to see more solar, and more energy effecient houses.

I am a carpenter with 10 years experience.

I hope to implement more earth friendly materials into my own company, at the time, the superior materials are only a luxury for the upper middle class and beyond.

Once green building hits track homes, that will be the real change.

An opinion from me.

Thanks!
