Do you think it's great tool for traffic pulling and or for SEO? I've used one of digg website but I'm not so much impressed with this all. What's your opinion or experience?
Digg.com is worth it if your website is a blog or news website. Digg can bring useful traffic to your website if your post is unique and compelling enough for folks to want to read.
Okay thank you. I've submitted couple of cool articles for digging, see what happens.
Well nothing special but it does comes handy
DIGG is excellent when used right. Although you have to keep in mind that the benefits aren't always direct. Meaning. Don't just expect that once you post something to have a million diggs and huge flood of traffic come in.
That's not how it works. Using dig for various keyword niches can give you better rankings in google fairly quickly because most digg pages get a much better PR than other sites. You main goal with using digg is to have people blogging about your digg and getting inbound links. Not so much in having digg just send you a whole pile of diggers. IMO digg is a great site that can definitely contribute to your SEO but just don't think it's going to be the be-all/end-all SEO tactic that is all you have to do to get to #1
Don't forget also that you can put your website URL in your DIGG
profile and this can be an extra source of traffic when people come by and visit your profile. You don't just have to submit your own site to get traffic. You can get it by submitting cool news and making comments on other people's DIGG's QUOTE(ResidualWealthFactor @ Mar 18 2008, 03:13 PM) Don't forget also that you can put your website URL in your DIGG profile and this can be an extra source of traffic when people come by and visit your profile. Digg is awesome. USE IT
hmm cool I wish there were 2 -3 more sites like digg ( not being much greedy
If you're looking to have a lot of diggs, or intend to have a lot of diggs, make sure your hosting can handle the load. If your submission makes it as a top story on digg, your hosting will take a huge hit as far as CPU on your shared server. Most shared server companies will have something in their terms about using up 20% of the CPU resources...this will result in your account being suspended.
There are lot of little etiquette things to know when submitting to digg, so as to not tick off the members. Ticking off the members might result in a big hit of diggs with the members burying your submission. There are other user-submitted news sites like digg, and might be better for your site. Digg is great for a huge one-time short-term amount of traffic. This tends to trail off pretty quick, once it is off the front page. Other sites are better giving a good amount of traffic over a longer time period.
Someone know any other articles submission directory where I one don't need to submit whole article? Thanks!
What are you trying to submit? Any examples?
I never thought of using digg for commenting. Thanks for posting that. I wonder if it yields good results. I use digg just to submit articles and have only had one article that did well. I have a PR 3 on my blog and I'm sure submitting to digg has helped in that area.
I wonder if frankyfiggs could talk a bit more about using niche keywords..... Please? Yea I have some cool articles which I have submitted in digg. Do you know of any other site like digg? please share. Thanks Well, some of the other big sites that are similar to digg would be stumbleupon.com, del.icio.us, and reddit.com. Do a search on social bookmarking and you should be able to find other sites similar to that. I don't know what kind of articles you're trying to submit, but there are usually social bookmark sites that are aimed toward specific areas. It could be those sites that may be able to help you get better results than digg. Well, some of the other big sites that are similar to digg would be stumbleupon.com, del.icio.us, and reddit.com. I know del.icio.us, but I'm surprised how you have compared it with digg....I can understand that it is well known social bookmarking site but IMO it is even not passing to digg for webmaster satisfaction. I doubt they use nofollow with all links submitted as book marks. Do stumbleupon.com and reddit.com use nofollow? any help? Well thank you ScottoGato for participating in this discussion. If you have a site that uses Joomla CMS, there is a plugin that makes it easy for you or your users to submit your articles to these sites and other top social bookmarking sites. You go to joomla.org and click on Extensions. From there, look under Search & Indexing, you'll find Social Bookmarking. I believe it's the first extension listed, it should be able to help you out. Here's an article about the differences in traffic between digg and stumbleupon: http://socialnewswatch.com/stumbleupon-digg-experiment/ So, considering the differences, different social bookmarking sites may end up being better for your site than digg.
Digg is awesome ,but be careful don't place more than 3 keywords per day, and propeller.com is pretty good.
Digg just added a new recommendation system that will give recommendations on the upcoming section that is using a pretty complex algorithm.
I should expect this may help those of you who are submitting to digg.
you won't make a lot of money from it, but it will bring you authority, rss subscribers and pr (if others will see the news interesting will link to it)! Worth it...
Digg is not good for "Make Money Online" type sites, but for tech, odd stuff, etc it can be very powerful.
Commenting is a good strategy. Carefully hone your profile page with links to the sites you want to promote (those are good backlinks). Watch the top digger's submissions and comment first on an article if you can. People will add you as a friend if they think your comment is cool, and that involves a visit to your profile page. To be a real Digg power user you'll need to build up a very powerful friend list, both on and off site.
I know that many of them do in fact work but sometimes its a pain to get dugg or stumbled over. I am not sure as I am still looking into it myself so any suggestions would be great as its almost endless how much I need to know before getting this to work right.
