Maybe you got your answer, but at the moment, the only way is to send with a bank wire. You could try through the post office, which costs 2500 yen, but it is slower than a bank. Also, they cannot tell you how much the receiving bank will charge, so you have to add extra yourself.
Some exchange services used to allow cash deposits to a bank account in Japan, but they stopped doing that. e-forexgold.com may offer the service if there is enough interest in Japan.
