Well, we know that steveb ran Thenextbigthing which quickly scammed almost before paying anything... hit and run scam... and from personal sources I won't disclose, he's been doing it for awhile, and still doing it as we speak. According to sweetgirl, he used her, offered her a large ref comm to start the thread Kingoftwelve and Kingofprofitshare and to say it was her program, so that when he decided to hit and run, she would take the fall (I'm only posting this because it was already made public).

Scott, aka aut0surf/tinyurl/MrBig, who has run a whole string of scams, most of them hit and runs, in the past few months, who's latest scam was Sportsmanprofit… hit and run scam… and actually bragged about it in the thread, and the fact that he's been doing it, and is still doing it under a whole slew of mmg names.

Are they working in tandem here?

They run blatantly around mmg, using fake names as often as we change our underwear, running a whole string of scams one after the other, even simultaneously, using people up like yesterdays garbage, out of control, and have the audacity to brag about it.

What do you guys make of this crazy situation? Can anything be done? Can mmg do anything about it? How do we stop them?

Just a cat-and-mouse game.
The more we and MMG do something about that, they'd wiser sad.gif

The thing that made me sort of sick to my stomach was how arrogant and blantant scott was in the sportmansprofit thread. Just doesn't give a damn, nor does he care who knows about it.

The best thing you can do when you suspect someone scamming or a banned member who has returned is to report it to us so we can make a record of it and keep an eye on the situation. A lot of people notice suspicious things and never bother to let us know about it, then blame us later for "allowing" it to happen. We have caught MANY scams and banned members who have returned because another MMG member took the time to send a report about their suspicions smile.gif Also remember that scammers love to brag and exaggerate.

Scammers leave emails. I've personally never seen a scammer brag about it, admit that he uses multiple names, and that he is currently running a whole string of other scams, and even interact with the members in a casual discussion, lol.

One of the things that makes the current moderating team so successful in figuring out scammers is that we all think in different, unique ways. When someone is suspicious of something, we all discuss it and figure out everything we can using as many different ways as we can think of.

Here are a few guidelines you might want to consider when looking for a program to join.

1. Who announced the program, and how did they find it? If you see someone who is constantly known for announcing new programs just to accumulate referral comission, you can already suppose that more than likely, they aren't going to do anything but drain funds from a program. They almost never invest any more than they have to in order to maximize referral earnings. Also, if they refuse to tell you or CANT tell you where they found it, there is a good chance that they are actually running it, but don't want people to know.

2. Look at who is posting paid. Doesn't matter if they have 10,000 posts. Everyone on MMG knows that post count is irrelevant. You can say "Paid!" 10,000 times, and its still useless posts. If you see people who are constantly making relevant posts, dont slam every other program they aren't a part of, and genuinely seem to want to help the community, you can suppose that they aren't going out of their way to blow smoke up your butt.

Everyone can tell a spammer when they see one. Just because as moderators/admins we can't delete every post that isnt deliberately breaking the rules, don't automatically suppose you will be able to trust someone who has 1000+ posts that all say "Looks good. Will have a look! cheer12.gif " and things like that. You are all smart people, or you wouldn't be here trying to learn what you can. Look at SweetGirlOf19Years. She has almost 10,000 posts, and even though they are mostly junk posts, everyone jumped right in thinking she was an "honest admin". After tricking everyone into thinking she was honest, she (allegedly) went and accepted a bribe in order to pretend to be the admin and take the heat when whoever was ACTUALLY in charge went and stole everyones money. Then SweetGirl had the nerve to pretend like she was the victim and that she didn't know that the real admin (a long time, known scammer) would steal all of the money.

3. Don't suppose that just because the admin "comes" to MMG they are any more or less trustworthy. Right off the bat it is hard to know if you can trust something just because they come and pretend to be honest. Wait a little while, look to see who is claiming to be paid, look at the site stats, check out the domain information, look at the hosting, and discuss with your friends via PM who is in on what programs. If you throw a bunch of money into a program with an incredible return rate just because the admin is in the thread, don't cry when you lose money. The PM system is one of the simplest, best methods to check out programs and share information with a few people who you trust. If you want to discuss having suspicions of multiple accounts or something along those lines, all of the admins and mods are here to help you. Some of us have AIM/MSN/Yahoo information in our profiles so that we can offer personal help when we are available.

So thats it. Why do you guys spend so much time losing at HYIPs? You don't read. You don't study. It's like you guys aren't even trying. This doesn't apply to everyone, and it isn't meant to be mean, because I seriously only want the best for the members of MMG, but sometimes we all need the hard truth. This forum is an amazing place to give and get information, and a great place to learn how to succeed where it is so easy to fail. SO STOP IT. Stop the pointless bickering and arguing, and do what you came to do. MAKE MONEY. It's really not so hard, and we are all here to do the same thing, so why are we hurting each other instead of helping? It doesn't make any sense. We all need to start working together more and researching better and sharing the information with each other.

If you want to talk to me personally about ANYTHING, don't hesitate to PM me. Im here for all of you guys, so don't hesitate.

MEMBER CAN STOP THE SCAM WORLD.

And then scammers will not live here more than one day.

All we have to do is to ask the admins a simple question:

Could you show us the way you create the promised wealth....

And wait to see their demo in real time. before and after the trading.

The next step would be to investigate if the demo is real or fake.

and only if it is real to invest.

IF YOU DO THIS SIMPLE THING, your chances to be scammed would be near zero.

hope this helps.

Most of this is just preaching to the choir. biggrin.gif

I thought people would find this a little more disturbing, but I guess it's just another day on mmg. Oh well, thought I'd bring it up anyway.

Like EM said in another thread, go ahead and diversify in 4 or 5 different programs... you just may be putting all your funds in 4 or 5 of scott and steveb's programs, lol.

Good luck. You've been warned.

That was a funny comment from EM. rofl4.gif rofl4.gif

I'm not joining anything new at the moment for that very reason, I'll just stick to some good ones I've found and keep going with them.

I'm glad you brought the topic up and hope that it forces the Admin team to brainstorm for ways to defeat the scammers. Keep up the good work. peace.gif

MMG staff can't help much in this...
A perfect scammer would always clear his cookies and use proxy before registering a new MMG id.

scammers always seem to find new ways to rip people off. with each new precaution we take, it just gets their adrenalin pumping for more action. now, its gotten so bad that they dare us head on.... shutup.gif

I'm pretty sure you probably would run out of toes and fingers if you count the number of accounts "Scott" probably has or had. tongue4.gif

I been pretty good at spotting scotts suspected latest scams. It can be difficult sometimes keeping up with all the scams. I know he has a partner that helps him.

Well yeh he must have a partner who probably builds up accounts.. who just sits on mmg all day under proxy posting.

As long as scott doesnt come up with any new tricks or changes his writing in teh forum he is detectable.
