Paul: Thank you for contacting iPowerWeb Live Chat. How may I assist you?
Jason: Hello. I was thinking about getting a dedicated server so that i'm able to send my newsletters to everyone without getting that error with the limited mails per hour. I was wondering how much downtime there would be, and if everything would transfer over perfectly smoothly, for example, my databases and settings. Also, how would I go about upgrading? Would I have to pay all at once, or monthly?
Paul: There will be downtime of minimum 12-24 hours
Jason: Ok.
Paul: May I help you with anything else?
Jason: Yes, can you please answer the rest of my questions above?
Paul: Yes, You can order a Dedicated Server and send newsletters
Jason: I think my whole question wasnt sent to you. I'll send it again
Paul: ok
Jason: I was wondering how much downtime there would be, and if everything would transfer over perfectly smoothly, for example, my databases and settings. Also, how would I go about upgrading? Would I have to pay all at once, or monthly?
Paul: You can pay for the Dedicated Server every month, 3 month, 6 months
Jason: Ok.
Paul: May I help you with anything else?
Jason: Did you see my two other questions?
Paul: There will be minimum downtime of 12-24 hours
Paul: You will have to contact our Billing dept for the upgrade
Jason: Will everything transfer over perfectly smoothly, for example, my databases and settings?
Paul: contact : BILLING: Paul: Mon - Fri | 7:00am - 9:00pm PST Paul: Sat - Sun | 7:00am - 7:00pm PST Paul: Toll Free: 1-888-511-4678 option 3 Paul: Outside USA: 1-310-314-1608 option 3 Paul: E-mail: billing@ipower.com Paul: Yes, the client will be responsible for moving the data, iPower never moves the data in case of upgrade or server move/change
Jason: Ok, so basically I setup a dedicated server seperately, then move my stuff over to it including my database, then I contact ipowerweb so you can change the domain name to the new server, and install my database for me?
Paul: Right
Jason: Ok, sounds good. Thank you.

Is MMG ok with dumbing down its service providers ?
So basically you have to know the answer, so you can ask the right question to get a yes or no, to check and see if your right ?
Ok

This was 2 years ago and we no longer use that company. Also, the problem wasn't that he was answering my questions incorrectly. The problem was that i had to ask him the same questions many times before i got an answer

no offense but i think if this employee has got some difficulties in understanding simple questions or instructions then he should not be placed in customer service department...they should prolly assign him for easy work so that he will not piss off customers and also do him good

I have just had the most frustrating 2 days of my life, trying to sort out a simple email account problem with my host, and believe me we are not talking cheap hosting here.
AT $2.53 per minute for support, I kept getting kids, who were only prepared to go so far, and because the problem was so obvious they overlooked it, finally I got so frustrated that I insisted that they call me back on their own line, at their own expense, and sort out the problem.
They sorted it in no time at all, next step, compensation for my massive phone bill.
