I just feel really disappointed. I judged Pete to be of good character.
I think he's let himself down by not having the courage to come here
and tell us what's happened.
It's foolish to still think that no member of his family has one spare minute
to let his investors know what his situation is both in regards to his
health and his business.

There is no way a hospital would give out that information.

I don't think anyone here could have known Pete better than me, BUT, I have to say, I don't think he is coming back either. It's been 3 months. There is really no excuse for someone in his family, or a friend, to not be able to take 5 minutes out of their day, in the past 90 days or so, to post a message for Pete, or give members an update of some kind. I have sent two messages to Pete's personal email address over the past few weeks. Neither have been answered.
The lack of complaints in this thread are a testament to the respect Pete had earned, but in this arena, 3 months is a heck of a long time.
If the situation was reversed and Pete was here waiting for someone for 3 months, he would have given up by now.
I hate saying all this, because I have had a lot to do with Pete over the last couple of years.
Ross river virus, heart problems, heart surgery, whatever, has anyone EVER known anyone to be in hospital for 3 months or be so sick they are unable to access and use a computer?! Well I am a nurse and I havent'. The exceptions would be a massive stroke, or something that debilitated him really quickly. And that still doesn't explain why his wife would not post a message here, or even send one to me or Dorky.

I hope he does come back, ....I'll happily cop the abuse from him for posting this message.

Well i guess Death may hinder Pete or his family taking 5 minutes out of there day to post a message here!

I will see what i can find out in the next couple of days, i have said before that Pete has a couple of cousins that live 20 minutes away from me and he gave me there names a long time before he started his program.

I have already mentioned once that another program that i am in had a similar thing happen and after about 3 months Mike the admin came back and he had had a stroke and an operation on his heart.

Put yourself in Pete's wifes position, if he has died or in a serious condition do you think she would give a stuff about what people think on MMG?

I am sorry to disagree with you GP. But I definitely think anyone of character would still behave responsibly, even in a time of crisis. A few days is understandable, heck even a couple of weeks, but three months (a quarter of a year)??? And yet, no word??

Taking on a program like this (for a person who is honest and of good character) should be treated with the utmost responsibility and consideration to members. Especially when the members have so much faith and respect in the administrator. I know it's "just money" but unfortunately money has a lot to do with the quality of life a person has. Members did not just place their money with Pete, they also placed their trust and hopes for a better life with him.

Turn the situation around. If my husband opened a program and I knew he had a responsibility to people who put their money and trust with him. I know that I would take a few minutes of my time, (especially after three months!!) to let people know what was going on.

This is just my own personal opinion, but I think that Pete has scammed us. If this is the case, I truly hope that Pete feels really terrible about this and doesn't find it easy to just blow us off without a second thought.

That's it for me in this thread unless Pete reappears, i'm not going to argue all day about something that is out of our control.

I would think that for people in Australia, locating Pete certainly is not "out of our control." It can't do any harm to contact the relatives that live close to you, or for someone to try and contact Pete or his wife.

Pete did tell me of an Aunty who lives not far from me, and also a nephew who drives one of the country school buses. However, I do not have their names, so would not be able to find them. Not that I think I would even try, my understanding is Pete hadn't seen them for years.

through this problem of not knowing what's happened.
Maybe even Pete will read this and see how disappointed we all

Thanks for that CrazyNo. I most certainly don't intend to come across argumentative. And I would never call Pete a scammer. I am just saying for whatever reason, and I have no idea what that reason is, I do not believe Pete will return.
I wish him nothing but the best. But I am so so disappointed that he has gone, like I said in a post above, I feel like I have lost a friend. He gave me far too much personal information for someone who was ever planning to run with others money, so I don't believe he planned to scam anyone. But in reality, it is extremely unlikely we will ever see gonsaigon again.

And yes we all have heard the hospital excuse before, it has been said that running a hyip (or in this case a NON hyip) is very dangerous to one's health because it's almost a sure fired way to "end up in the hospital" or "with a serious health crisis".

But I do give you a point when you made the statement about painting everyone with the same brush. We as human beings do tend to do that. And yes there are always exceptions.

You are right about this, I was feeling very frustrated when I wrote that post. In a way I was hoping that Pete (or his wife) would come in here and prove me wrong. Or at least come in here and let us know what is going on. But I do believe we at least deserve that.

Now this was by far my absolute favorite comment in your whole post. Great way to put that! It sounded so deliciously self rightous and sanctimonious. Now come on Martin don't you think that's a little "pot calling the kettle black". What do you think this whole arena is? And just for your 411, I no longer play "those" ponzi's anymore for that very reason. I now only put my hard earned money in legitimate investment opportunities, which I thought Breakthedrought was.

So whatever happens or however it unfolds, I do hope that we will at least be given some information/explanation about BTD and not just left in the dark.

For the sake of brevity, otherwise this could run and run, the only facts available are that Pete is MIA, so I don't know what anyone can deduce from that. But IMHO even though trust and loyalty are admirable characters, denying facts is foolishness.

Whatever happened to Pete, we will all miss him. He has been the source for many laughters on this and also other forums. He also has been an entertaining story teller, whose rememberings have been amusing many times.

Lesson learnt - Trust no one online!

The lesson is don't trust any of these who have been here for a long time. All their reputations do is make it easier for them to scam others.

I remember Pete telling me the exact same thing 18 months or so ago.

Well, we have managed to keep the thread going for 17 pages and just under 4 months. What doesn't make any sense is that Pete had the program going for 7 months and it was a slow-go. This program never really caught fire and had people clamoring to throw their money in. It was slow, steady, and building. If Pete wanted to scam, why would he pick that point to do it? He couldn't have made off with much, in my opinion. Most everybody in here was rolling over their money month to month. I just don't buy it. There is a lot that goes on in here - in this forum and in this arena. This "industry" depends on people and "stuff" happens to people. We're all pretty anonymous around here and if something happens to one of us, who would know or be able to report back? Pete's wife, perhaps, but I am going to assume that she has more on her mind than just us (if we're on her radar at all).

I know this all sounds incredibly naive, but I feel I have been around long enough to smell a scam from something else. Pete put a lot of effort into all this for quite a while just to up and leave with peanuts (of course that all depends on your definition of peanuts). And I don't think that everybody who has been around a while needs to be deemed untrustworthy. Some, sure, but not all. And I still don't believe Pete is untrustworthy

Name one who opened a program based on their reputation who didn't scam.

How do you know how many people invested in BTD or even the amount that they invested? I know that there are a lot more people that invest in programs than ever post in public forums. Pete could have had a lot more money invested than anybody might even know. I'm sorry for being so cynical but it just reminds me too close of another program and admin where Pete was a member. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of that program but it was run by a man named Kent. The members were ever bit as trusting and loyal as the members in this thread. Pete was one of his biggest supporters. It took forever for Kent's loyal members to realize that they had been scammed. Pete became absolutely outraged and raked Kent through the coals (and rightfully so). Aussie Fox knows exactly what I'm talking about. It just seems like the situation has turned around and Pete has "become" Kent. That is what makes me so angry about this situation. Pete knows exactly what it feels like to be betrayed by somebody that you trust so much. Unfortunately I have come to realize that no matter how much you think you know someone or how much you think you can trust someone, you have no clue how trustworthy they are in this cyber world. So until it can be proven otherwise, I do believe that we have been betrayed by Pete.

I do not want this to be true and would LOVE for Pete to come back and prove me wrong.

Pete was outraged, absolutely furious. I know darn well how Pete felt then. And I know, that if Pete was here right now, and someone else was admin, who was MIA for this amount of time, Pete, no matter how highly he rated the admin would by now be absolutely furious again. It's obvious to me Pete won't be back. No matter what people are posting, I can't believe anyone thinks he will now return. Personally, I think Pete has used the money, though I tend to think that maybe he made a bad investment, or used it for his own personal use, fully intending to replace it and couldn't. That is the worst I can bring myself to think of Pete. While I will NEVER believe he started this program with the intention of scamming, he has however disappeared with the money with no explanation whatsoever.

If Pete is not sick, then no doubt he will be visiting this forum as a guest, to check out this thread. It's human nature, curiosity would get the better of him. Just in case Pete reads this,...........
Pete....I am truly disappointed in you, truly, but then maybe I should be disappointed in myself.

After all, it was Pete, who reminded me time and time again, to NEVER EVER trust anyone online, no matter how well you thought you knew them. Sometimes now I wonder if he was actually trying to let me know that one day he too would be gone. There was a lot of trust b/w Pete and I, I had his phone no., he had mine, and on a couple of occasions he lent me some egold, without me ever even asking for it...telling me I could repay it whenever. And even though I paid it back, he never once asked for it. I still believe he is a good man, with good intentions. But I am so darn angry he has let you all down this way. The Pete I knew would never have done this.

I do have a phone no. and I have rung it, but it just continually rings out. I don't know if this phone no. is disconnected or not. I do know Pete moved a while ago, so it is probably not his no. now anyway, but I thought it was worth a go. I will try again when I have time.

FYI I have run across Pete's wife on the Internet during the time Pete has been "sick". That makes me wonder why she (in case Pete really was sick) never bothered to answer anyone who has emailed them. If she has time to hang on other forums then why not in here, even just to comment on Pete's condition.

In my book Pete has become a traitor and you guys are handling him with silk gloves which he obviously don't deserve!

I know how hard it is to declare that in public when you have been supporting a person with your whole heart. I've been there myself. No matter if the person didn't start out the program with scamming in mind but when he/she dissapears for any reason it makes him/her a traitor. And a coward too! And in this case a very clever one.

If (when) Pete reads this thread I want to say him: SHAME ON YOU! I would never, ever thought you could do this!

And it will happen again and again so long as you trust these old timers with your money.

Aussiefox may chose to ignore the question but the fact remains that every old timer that started a program scammed. They all do it then they all vanish. I was lucky or fortunate to have chosen against this program so I lost nothing here. Pete being Australian along with the other Australians cheer leading is what made me decide not to invest here.

Pete stayed here long enough to build up the trust he needed to pull this off. The MO is always the same. Some long termer with a few friends to post "he'd never scam, "I know him better than anyone", "I know his cousins", "I know his home ph #" and the trap is set.
These friends naturally post their shock then vanish when the members realize their money is gone.

I think you will find, if you check that there were many more other nationalities here posting than Australians. So using your logic, if an American has a site, with Americans 'cheerleading' in his program then you would stay away from it.....etc, etc....

I have been on this forum for a good 2 1/2 years now. I don't believe I am easily fooled. As for 'knowing' or not 'knowing' Pete, you have absolutely no idea what dealings/contact/knowledge I have of Pete. Like you I had no money in this program either.

Pete has done the wrong thing, and I am extremely angry about it. But I think I am in a much better position than you to say he did not set out to scam. See it as you see fit, but don't make posts that insinuate myself or anyone else was foolish to have had faith in Pete.

@ Peach, I certainly hope that by "old timer" you don't mean just because we are more elderly than others here. But I think you mean long time members of forums... I don't know if you are aware or not Peach, but I am almost totally deaf, and I consider the reading like a voice print. People have a style of writing, as well as the "little things" they tell you over a long period of time.. they all add up to build a picture of a person. I have had some late night conversations in the past with Pete on MSN... yes we sat around and had a few beers and two finger typed in conversation about a multitude of things. We talked about everything... books, fishing, young Trev retirement.. even ANZAC day services. He was a genuine bloke.

Just for the record, but I am sure I posted about it when Pete was going to the hospital that I could tell that something wasn't right with his health. He seemed worried about his knees swelling.. I was, and are still concerned about his health. You can all laugh and say what you will, but I WILL NOT believe that Pete scammed us. I truly believe that something has prevented him from at least contacting me... I know it has been a long time, but I really and ever hopefull that I might hear something. Without being managed, his program would be in a mess. I don't know if Sally knew how it all worked, but I would assume she would have some knowledge about it, due to Pete was a retired businessman.. everything that he told me has checked out. A man of his calibre has left a footprint all over the internet, even I found many things.

Regardless of what readers and posters say and think on this thread... it dosen't change my opinion of the man. I believe in his honesty. You can say what you like, but yes I wear my heart on my sleeve. The truth about us Australians that non-Australians don't understand is a thing called mateship. If a friend is in trouble, you don't kick him while he is down. It is so easy to condemn. But mates help each other, no matter what. All I ever did here was tell the truth about BTD, and have some fun. Hell, that is what life is about. If other members call that cheerleading.. LOL.. so be it. Each person who lost here needs to make their own conclusions if what they did was stupid or not. my point was simple, to trust an old timer with your money just because he/she is an old timer is silly and yes it is stupid. History has shown that all old timers that started a program scammed their members in one way or another.

I'm sure your ability to paint such a picture would be superior to the rest of us. We talk about people online and how close we are with them but the reality is that all we have is the picture we painted of the person in our own minds based on the words we read.

Pete posted here that he had RRF, would you not expect him to show his wife whats going on so that the members are looked after? One could not expect Mrs pete to come and post at the time as she would have been busy. Now 4months later not a word. From the email you said mrs Pete sent we know she has access to the site.

But as I said before, yes, I have seen Pete's wife on other forums for sure. Latest in the beginning of November. Just makes one wonder if Pete truly were sick and in hospital why she doesn't answer your emails or come to this forum. It would not take too much of her time and I'm sure she knows what Pete has been up to.

You know, I'm trying to remember who first said we trusted Pete to run this program because he was a "veteran member" and you know what? I think it was you. I never trusted Pete because of his MMG join date or the amount of posts under his belt. It was because of the way he handled himself around here, was constantly active in the thread and kept us informed, and never failed to reply to a question via the forum or email. I can see by your post history you have a real ax to grind with the "veteran membership", but if we're not to join programs based upon the longevity/post count of a member, who are we to trust? The newbie who just opened their account that day? Or perhaps a two weeks ago? I'm sure they wouldn't scam since they haven't built up the proper post count and friend quota to pull off the big score. The truth is, we never know who's going to play it straight or not and that makes your message moot.

Furthermore, if you had nothing invested here and knew better, what are you doing here anyway? Just came round to call us dumb and stupid? Thanks. Of course it is a free forum and you're allowed here to be sure. I just really get a kick out of those who troll the "closed/scam" folder to have the opportunity to call people names and say "I told you so". Brilliant.

It's about time you learn to trade stocks, options or forex the only thing is that you won't be able to blame every member of these "pretend investments" for you losing your money then!

Like Dorky I still wanted to hope that Pete would return, but I feel
now the hope is in vain.
I was stunned to read that you have seen Mrs Pete posting in other
forums, such a blatant demonstration of uncaring behaviour can only
mean that Pete's health issues are not the problem here, but indeed
they have ruthlessly scammed us.

I never said that i know his cousins personally i just said that i had there names, phone #'s and address, they live in a town about 15 minutes from me and i have contacted them.

They are very old and have not had anything to do with Pete since he split with his first wife many years ago and shifted to Queensland.

They will get back to me if they hear anything from there other relatives as they have no idea where he lives or what he has been doing for the last 20 years.

The other thing is that i have not vanished, i just can't see the point in jumping up and down like a two year old kid because i put my money into a risky online venture and it didn't turn out the way that i had hoped.( Unlike some people i follow the golden rule and only spend what i can afford to lose!)

And like Nenumphar stated, you are someone that I would love to have as my friend. I wish that the world had more people like you in it. You know, everytime I come to the thread as I see someone has posted, I am sort of waiting for a big stick to fly out of the computer.

I have only ever been honest in my postings and with my dealings with my internet friends. I can't turn off and get on with a real in life type of life that everyone else has. This is my life. We all have ups and downs. I have in the past been accused of things that are untrue. Seems the innocent have to prove themselves, where the knockers just keep on hurting the very people they should be caring about...fellow members. Whatever the outcome here, I am very dissappointed with some of the comments. We are all mature members here, and we should conduct ourselves accordingly. We are the Breakers... this thread will always tie us together. I will remain a Breaker until we have closure here. I might even die a Breaker, but so be it. I am still trying to contact Pete, and will continue to do so. I may be an old fool, but "there is something amiss here" and I intend to find out what it is.

@ Peach... such a lovely name. I didn't realize before my last post, but I see you are an Aussie. I read through your posts from your first to your last.. I see you are or were into doublers.. I dabble a bit there as well, very social group, love it. In the beginning you made a couple of nice posts, and I see you are a poet.. then as time went on the only posts you seem to have made about any program was very negitave... I find that sad. No matter what happens in life, their always is a bright side, even if you don't see it at first. Give it a chance, and eventually you will. Everyone has good in them, but in some it is a bit harder to find. I look forward to seeing you in "happier" times, hopefully this will be reflected in your posts.

As some of you, I still can't believe Pete scammed, it's simply not him. Even if something with his program failed and he lost the money, he would have had the courage to come here and face it. This is at least the Pete i knew...I do hope from all my heart he will be back and break this silence...you are all deserving an explanation.
