Hi all. Bad news..... I was just sent a message from a friend letting me know that someone has been using my email address to send a virus out to people that I associate with! The person that let me know, was someone that I associate with on and off this board, so I just wanted to make sure I covered all bases incase they got my info from here and decided to email to all of you... So, if you get an email that says it is from "christyn" at "christyn1224@yahoo.com", don't open the files! I am going to be closing this email account now. sad.gif

You may have a trojan...do a scan with housecall.trendmicro.com then run panda's online scan (forgot the url)

It's more likely that somone you have emailed in the past is infected and the trojan is making it look like it is coming from you.

I agree. It's probably not someone using your email address to send out viruses. That sounds like a classic case of an email worm to me. You should do a virus scan.

I did a virus scan using AVG and also took Mobile's suggestions (thanks again, Mobile smile.gif )... it found nothing. The interesting thing is that the person that notified me of this is a person that I never email using THAT email address.... I always use my other one so I am a little confused as to how the connection was made between me and that person with that particular email address. (Does that make sense?) unsure.gif

AVG...

Advice, McAfee.

It's probably some off brand trojan not even worth searching for. The trojan cleaner one I advised should have found it...

Nothing to go deleting an account over.

This is how the trojan usually works.

It sends a mail from you with a virus attached. It's not you sending it but it has your name. It's been going on since the internet was created. Don't worry about it.

If I was there I'd do a full search for you but I'm not so I can't laugh.gif
