Hi,

If you would like all the paper work and instructions to open a US bank account then please visit the site in my signature and click on contact and drop me a mail and I will send you over the information for free. It is an Etrade bank account and I haven't personally tried it but I bought the information a few weeks ago from a trusted source.

Hi, for those who apply etrade brokerage account, how long do u wait to receive the welcoming package? I'm from Malaysia.

Thanks.

the best way to go is open an account at
either
http://tdameritrade.com
or http://interactivebrokers.com

IB not only allows you to trade US stocks but shares in many countries. They will be best if you intend to trade 1000 shares or less per trade. If you plan to trade larger blocks of shares i would go with TD Ameritrade.

Both of these brokers welcome international customers and you can open an account online and wire funds from your bank and start trading the next day after you wire.

It's all very simple and these are large trusted firms.

Etrade offers checking and debit cards, and you can wire or mail money order or certified check to open account.

Good luck to all, Mike

If you're in the USA, then I'm sure a minimum would be $50 but since you're a foreigner, your minimum would be a lot lot higher as compared to a local.

Why? Simple, because they don't want just about any Tom, Dick or Harry to just open an account with them without a reason and thus make them prone to Money Laundering and that is one of the things that banks fear the most. Money Laundering could cause them to not only lose their license as a bank but also to get them in jail because of it.

So a bigger deposit would be needed to ensure that you're a genuine person wanting an account with them.

Can a person just visiting another country open a bank account there?
I am sure a foreign person that is working in the USA can open an account.

I just saw something on the news about some bank giving accounts to illegal aliens. Did not hear it all. I do not know what tax ID they would use to open the account.

There are on-line banks based in the USA. Do they allow foreign accounts? Maybe.
Might be worth a google.
