Hi there,

I am planning on making and developing a huge forum, hopefully 50,000+ members and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of server or hosting I should be thinking of...

Does anyone own a big forum? ASFX, how much bandwidth does MMG use a month and what hosting do you use?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

Tim

Stop trying to run before you walk...man 50k members is huge it will take years to get that big

You don't need expensive hosts to start with use the money to promote instead tongue4.gif

I'd assume you would be looking at getting multiple servers to run a forum of that size.
ASFx
Here we use three servers and use about 20-30GB of traffic per day. I suggest that you start on a small shared host then upgrade servers as needed.

It will take a long time for you to ever see 50k members. But if you want to dive right in Rackspace is by far the best. You can get a pretty decent package for around $375 to $450 per month, then you can upgrade as needed. But really, it would be best to take baby steps. There are no forums on the net that grow that fast, no matter what the content of the forum is.

30GB per day... I think most of the HYIPs listed here need it for 1 month.. rofl4.gif

lol you\'re everywhere with little post and smiley. How\'s that going?

You should start with small hosting plan and upgrade with the growth. You can't pay 400-500 USD for server when your forum is not even started and you know there is no guarantee it will success ....

I'd advise going with whats being said here, whats the point of having one kick ass server with no traffic?

And 20-30 gb/daily, thats surely more then I expected this forum had.

Good going ASFx, surely this is my favourte money making forum.

The best choice is Rackspace.com.

Very high quality servers.
