So my question is if and how can I move the "My Documents" folder to my new HDD and the computer recognises that it's on the new D drive and not the old C while still keeping my OS and other documents on the old drive?
Thanks in advance smile.gif

Hi,
First, it is safe to do a complete backup of disk drive c: (system & data) to a dvd+rw disk. smile.gif

Then you can compress the folder to a .rar or .zip
with winrar or winzip respectively.

Finally, you can copy to disk drive d: and uncompress it again.

Just for your reference only.

Hey I migrated it yesterday and all you need to do is a click and drag of your documents folder into the new HDD and let it copy. Then you right click and check that all the files have copied by looking at the number of files and the total size (it should be the same down to the last byte). Then right click on the "My Documents" folder on your desktop and go to properties. All you do now is change the destination folder and you're done! Then you can delete your old docs folder as you see fit (may want to leave it for a couple of weeks to be sure the files you use most often weren't corrupted when you copied then).

Yes, you are great too. smile.gif

For zipping the whole directory , all hidden or unhidden files will be stored.
And it is no need to compare and count the total number of files.
