CODE
<a href="YOURLINK" target="_blank"><img border=0 src="PICTURELINK"></a>

its easy to understand:
at first, just replace the word YOURLINK for your referal link.
at last replace PICTURELINK for your bannerlink.

bye

Remember that the code above will not work here on the forum, it's only good for web pages. Here on MMG you would have to use bbcode to add a banner to your posts or sig.

For example:

CODE
[URL=http://www.url-goes-here.com][IMG]http://www.link-to-banner-goes-here.com/image.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

Thanks for asking the question... and thanks to all for the clear examples. Something I wanted to know and never asked.

Thought I had to have my own website to put up any banner. Guess that is not true if the banners are hosted on the MMG? Of if the banner you want to use has a hosting location that is available to everyone. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know if here offers image hosting, but there are places like imageshack and photobucket that do for free.

If a programme you want to promote doesn't allow you to hotlink to a banner from their site, then open an account with an image-hosting service--and follow the directions above. You will have to download the banner to your computer first--generally right click and hit 'save as' or 'save target as', upload it to the site following their instructions (usually pretty simple), and then link it.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is!

Man I am glad I found this. I was doing a normal link for a banner and it wasn't working whatsoever and I could not figure out why. I have been told that I never ask for help and am a typical type A male.
