Can a zeek affiliate be his/her own customer as well?

Hi marq,

No, a ZR affiliate cannot be his/her own customer.

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Year-end reports are up in your back office for those that are supposed to receive 1099's. It's under Commissions/Cash-Out Report.

Do they provide all the totals needed to effectively complete your taxes?

Is anyone here using Quickbooks or another type of accounting software to keep track of their zeek rewards numbers. I am currently using an excel spreadsheet, but accounting software like Quickbooks would allow for more detailed reporting for tax season.

I hope some of the people that get their taxes done early can give some updates about the filing and how it went with their tax preparer.

Hi Ron,

It appears the year-end report has been taken down temporarily I'm assuming. Will have to check back later today.

Do we know how they calculating the 1099? I know they have said any reward i.e daily reward, matrix incomes, commission etc...however, does anemone knows if they all subtract the retired point from the total earning before sending 1099? or do we have calculate how many points retired and subtract from 1099 amount?

I think it was never mentioned anywhere.

Im using a simple Dome bookkeeping record. Easy for any business and within Federal and State tax laws. They also have a software version on the website. domeproducts.com

I took a look at it yesterday while it was up. But did not have time to print it off and compare it to what is in my back office. But you cannot subtract off anything once the 1099 is sent to IRS. You must report the same earnings and take deductions where allowed. The question is how much and what we can deduct and so far no one has shared that after consulting with their tax person.

Without giving any tax advice, I think it is safe to assume that anything that would be a business expense in ANY legit business can be deducted...i.e. monthly subscription fees, sample bids, paid advertising, 5cc fees, standard home office deductions (if you operate your business from home), etc. I don't quite get what all the confusion is about. This is a regular old home based business, so the regular old tax deductions apply!!

Thanks Julie! but still confusing to me if retired points will be part to the 1099 or not? If yes, not sure if they will be consider expense or not. Rest of the things are pretty obvious.

Hi Neena,

I received a 1099 by mail on the 16th of February. I do not see the 1099 in my back office under the
Commissions/Cash-OUt Report that you suggested. Now I never asked for a cash out yet, maybe that is why. I am stating this because maybe not everyone who is entitled to a 1099 will see it in their back office. Not sure.

Hi Jim,

It appears the year-end report has been taken down temporarily (I'm assuming). It was up yesterday briefly. You will have to check your back office later today to see if they put it back up.
