Will .com Domains Always Be King?

Just thought this was an interesting topic. With ICANN ready to allow a whole assortment of custom extensions like .coke, .money, .stocks, etc, will .com remain the king of the domain extensions? Will the increase in extensions only mean that .com's will hold more value, as confusion makes anyone trying to goto for instance "Unitedstates.banks" type in Unitedstatesbanks.com? Or will the variety of extensions means the value .com would decrease since there is a larger supply of domains to choose from. These are all questions any domain investor must ask. The fact that all the major companies still use .com's at least here in the United states, I believe .com's will remain king, and likely benefit from the confusion of all the elaborate extensions which may come into play.

Who Should You Be Targetting For Quick Sales?

I had a few people ask me how they can make a quick buck from their sites. There is not formula for doign so that won't eventually be outdated and oversaturated. Having said this, what you do want to look for when decided on a product or service is market is people who are desperate. Some of these include:

* Gamblers in debt
* People whose home is about to be foreclosed
* People about to go out of business
* Students who need money to enroll
* People who want to get rich quick
* Parents with children needing legal help
* Insurance agents, doctors, therapists, who have failed or fear failing there exams
* Women who can not get pregnant
* Women scared of husbands having affairs
* Men who cant get women at all
* People who have work drug tests coming up soon
* Uninsured people looking for natural remedies to common medical ailments

These people are the ones who will spend money online and fast, without takign too much time to second guess their buying decision or look for better prices elsewhere.

Haiti Earthquake Stats - Tolls Etc

We all know by now about the disaster in Haiti a few weeks ago. Here are some numbers to put things in perspective for you all. Remember to send donations to http://RedCross.org :

Number of Aftershocks: 56 of magnitude-4.5 or greater.

THE TOLL

- Bodies recovered: 150,000 .s 54 Americans, 44 Europeans)
- Estimated dead: 200,000
- Rescued from collapsed buildings: 134
- Injured: 194,000.
- Children who are unaccompanied, orphaned or lost one parent: 1 million
- People enduring amputations or other surgery: 200,000.

THE DISPLACED

- Homeless: 1 million.
- Living in makeshift camps: 700,000-800,000
- Tents needed for homeless: 200,000 family-size.
- People who have fled Port-au-Prince for the countryside: 236,000.

THE DAMAGE AND THE NEED

- Structures destroyed: 70 percent in broad areas of the capital; 90 percent in towns closer to the epicenter.
- Schools destroyed or badly damaged: 90 percent throughout the capital.
- People who need food aid: 2 million
- People receiving food aid: 400,000

THE RESPONSE

- Backlog of planes waiting to land at the airport: 800-1,000.
- Flights landing per day: About 140.
- U.S. military: About 20,000 troops, 18 ships.
- U.N. peacekeeping troops and police: 12,500

Donations: More than $1 billion from governments, including $575 million from Europe and $316 million from U.S. government, in addition to $470 million in donations through private U.S. charities.
