What Consitutes Clutter?

So I was told by the staff of MMG that my Farewell post was clutter? I mean I didn't know that one simple post took up so much bandwidth that it had to be erased. If people didn't care they didn't have to read or respond correct? I thought so.

I mean if your not interested in a thread then you don't read it or you don't respond and it dies away.

Thoughts on this or maybe I'm just way outta line...

Is it possible to raise the smilies allowed in posts some?
I find it hard to quote people and add my own smilies at time to the post.
I know I could remove them from the post as that is what I usually do..
