1.Find hot spots available on the page and place ads there.
2.Always consider the relevance of ads.
3.Make people happy though the contents and encourage them for more info.
4.Place ads among the text as they get looks like part of page contents.
5.Place ads on the visible part of webpage.

5.Place ads on the visible part of webpage.

well, not bad tips. Anyway with fifth I don't agree. Many of ads on a website will make visitors run away and never comeback

Thes are good. I find number four the most useful as people will click the ads if they are reading the text and the ads are relevant to them

Tips are good, but every site is different and a lot is trial and error.

Test if it don't work, change it and monitor it again.

Good advice.

I would also suggest A/B testing.

This means you run two seperate ads at all times. You then drop the less peforming ad, tweak the better peforming one and then run them side by side. Keep repeating this for very good results. smile.gif

Testing the ad type and placement is definitely needed to optimize CTR...a couple tweaks on my site almost doubled my income!

Begs the question of where people find ad placement to be most successful.
I've got 2 sites with right-side skyscrapers and I keep considering moving the ads to the bottom after the text/article....
