QUOTE(jamco1 @ Apr 1 2006, 05:23 PM) I thought I should let all of you know the growing problem with today's education. Teachers do not make enough money to live like normal blue collar workers. I know this because I am an elementary teacher. My salary is not even near enough to cover the cost of living for my wife and I along with a baby. To combat this problem, I have had to get one, and maybe two, more jobs. The real issue here is that I cannot spend as much time before and after school preparing to teach your children. I new going into this profession that teachers do not make a lot of money. I just didn't know how little they made. To put things in some sort of perspective for you, when my son is of school age, he will qualify for a free or reduced lunch from the state. Same here in Egypt, seems it's an international problem!

US teachers have a short work week, 4 months off durring the year, full benefits, and reasonably good job security. How much do you think they should be making?
