Teachers Paid Too Little To Teach Properly

I thought I should let all of you know the growing problem with today's education. Teachers do not make enough money to live like normal blue collar workers. I know this because I am an elementary teacher. My salary is not even near enough to cover the cost of living for my wife and I along with a baby. To combat this problem, I have had to get one, and maybe two, more jobs.

The real issue here is that I cannot spend as much time before and after school preparing to teach your children. I knew going into this profession that teachers do not make a lot of money. I just didn't know how little they made. To put things in some sort of perspective for you, when my son is of school age, he will qualify for a free or reduced lunch from the state. annoyed.gif

Yes, in my country a lt of teachers do not earn a well salary, but university teachers here earn astronomic income (if they teach at a federal instituition).

intersting topic ... i did a small research on teachers pay, all i can say is the range is huge. depending on your position, you can get from 20k to 99k annual salary.

in general, they have about 2.5k pounds per month for classroom teachers and 4k / m for head teacher in the UK, plus a lot more benifits from gov than normal workers.

perpahs you dont get as much as other job in your first few years, but i cosider this is an OK job for long term.

In UK there are pretty good salaries in general. I had a look and in Finland the average salaries are the same amounts as in UK but they are in euros, so they are quite a bit lower than there.

well, you cant compare like that since there is differences in countries' economic and things costs far more than other counties if you exchange it. i have to spend like 7 pounds to get a lunch in UK, yet in malaysia i need only 7 ringgit malaysia, which is about 1 pound.

people may only make about 400 pounds (RM 2000) in malaysia, but thats a lot for them and they can live for a whole month.

US teachers have a short work week, 4 months off durring the year, full benefits, and reasonably good job security. How much do you think they should be making?
