Is anyone here interested in UK horse racing?

We have a thing here in the UK every saturday called the Scoop6, I would be interested in starting a syndicate to do the Tote Scoop6 on a regular basis. I don't wish to do it every Saturday, instead, I would prefer to concentrate on weeks where there is a rollover due to the win fund not being won the week before, all win fund money is therefore rolled over to the following week, those occasional weeks are the ones I wish to concentrate on.

Of course, there is no guarantee that will will find the winner of all 6 races, I have come close before with 4 winners, a 2nd and a 3rd from my own 6 selections. So it is a case of being a speculative bet, but you have to speculate to accumulate!

It is only £2 per line to enter if you pick just 1 horse per race, but you can have as many horses in each race as you want, the only thing stopping you from doing this on your own is that the more horses you pick per race, the more expensive it becomes, for example, the week where I had the 4 winners a 2nd and a 3rd, it cost me £576 to place that bet that day, I got a £94 return for having all 6 horses win and placed, £94 was the return that week for the Scoop6 place fund, sometimes the place fund is a whole lot more than that and it also depends on how many people had all 6 placed, the less people who had all 6 placed, the more the place fund is, here is the screenshot from my Totesport account showing the bet placed:

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/2048/tote5ki.jpg

As you can see, I had multiple horses in each of the 6 legs, obviously using more horses in races where there were a lot of runners, the bet worked out as:

Leg 1 = 2 horses
Leg 2 = 3 horses
Leg 3 = 2 horses
Leg 4 = 2 horses
Leg 5 = 3 horses
Leg 6 = 4 horses

2x3x2x2x3x4 = 288 bets x £2 per bet = Stake £576

If you only had 1 horse per race it would cost.

1x1x1x1x1x1 = 1 bet x £2 per bet = Stake £2

You can see how the stake differs, but people have virtually no chance of winning by picking only 1 horse per race, hence the need for a syndicate so that numerous horses can be covered in each of the 6 races, thus giving a greater chance of winning all 6 legs. If we manage to pick the winners of all 6 legs, we win the Scoop6 win fund, we then get the chance to win the Scoop6 Bonus Fund, that happens the following Saturday, the Tote nominates a race and we have to pick the winner of it, if our horse winsthen we win the Scoop6 Bonus Fund, which is usually between £20,000 - £50,000, and on many occasions has been several hundred thousand pounds.

This is how the Scoop6 works it works.

Scoop6 Information.

The scoop6 is a pool bet managed by www.totesport.com which gives you the chance to win a fortune for a £2 stake.

The challenge is to select all six winners from six selected televised races during Saturday meetings.

If you meet this challenge you will win a share of the scoop6 win fund, which can be over £1 million, and will also get the chance to play for the scoop6 bonus fund by picking the winner of a race the following Saturday.

Even if you fail to select all six winners you can win a share of the scoop6 place fund if your selections place in each of the races. Even this lower prize paid out over £1000 per winner on 8 occasions during 2005. All this for a £2 stake!

Scoop6 Rollovers, better that the National Lottery?

In a similar way to how the National Lottery works, if any of the scoop6 funds aren't won on a particular week their value is rolled over to the following week. Like the lottery, this can cause some massive prize funds to be up for grabbing.

Unlike the lottery, the scoop6 can be played as a game of skill. By using you knowledge of horses you can increase your odds of winning.

The scoop6 has the aditional benefit of not being all over within a minute. With races spread over around an hour and a half of the afternoon, and televised live on Channel4, you get a lot more enjoyment from your stake.

As you can see, there are some very large amounts of money to be won by doing the Scoop6, particularly if concentrating only on rollover weeks where the fund has in the past reached £1 Million Pounds, as well as several hundred thousand pounds on numerous occasions.

I would like to make a Scoop6 syndicate with around 100 members, each member paying £10 each time there is a rollover week, that would give us £1000 to invest in trying to win the Scoop6 on any given rollover week, all winnings would be split equally between syndicate members.

Any week where we only won the place fund, that money would stay in the syndicate fund pool and be used to select additional horses next time there is a rollover, this is just at the idea stage at the moment depending on interest shown and I have not posted this syndicate anywhere else on the internet.

I will have to write a syndicate contract for members if enough are interested in it as I want it all above board, I will also give my full home address and phone number to members if it gets off the ground, if you are interested in this very low cost syndicate (may well be only £10 or £20 per month depending on if there is a rollover or not) reply to this thread with your email address and I will contact you when we get enough people interested.

It's Saturday tomorrow and it's Scoop6 day, so I will give you an example bet of a Scoop6 bet so that you can see how it all works.

Saturday 4th February 2006 totescoop6 races.

Leg1 - Sandown 2.05 (8 runners)

Leg2 - Sandown 2.35 (5 runners)

Leg3 - Wetherby 2.50 (9 runners)

Leg4 - Sandown 3.10 (19 runners)

Leg5 - Wetherby 3.25 (5 runners)

Leg6 - Sandown 3.45 (12 runners)

Bonus fund rollover from last week £24,791

I will be back later tonight with my selections for those Scoop6 races above.

[edit]

It actually looks quite easy tomorrow, most of the 6 races have small fields between 5 - 9 runners only, there are 2 races with 12 and 19 runners in each of them, so those races will need more selections to find the winner. I would think there will be a lot of winners of the Scoop6 win fund tomorrow, due mainly to the small numbers of runners in most races, so this is not a week when I would do the Scoop6 (it's not a win fund rollover this week either), as the win fund will probably be low with many people winning it and having to share the main win fund.

Ok, I left it until now to make the final selections for this Scoop6 example as I wanted to see the going today and possible non runners, these are what I would have picked for todays Scoop6. First race is in 45 minutes time.

Saturday 4th February 2006 totescoop6 races.

Leg1 - Sandown 2.05

Mister McGoldrick

Leg2 - Sandown 2.35
Albuhera
Napolitain

Leg3 - Wetherby 2.50

Leg5 - Wetherby 3.25

Well we had the winner in 4 of the 6 races, with another horse being second in the last race, the only race that let us down was the Wetherby 2.50 where both selections could only manage 5th and 6th place, it seems that a lot of other people were also knocked out of the Scoop6 in that same Wetherby 2.50 race, the fancied horses ran badly in it, so we could not have even got the £223.50 place fund, as we only had 5 win and placed horses and we needed 6 to get the palce fund. It gives you an idea of how it works anyway.
