Just wondering if anyone is seeing a decrease in rankings with Google. My squidoo lens has always been #1 for my keyword on google search but lately it has been dropping. My lens is getting more traffic than it ever has but mainly because I have linked a lot more other sites to it.

I know Google has been playing with a new algorithm but I do not know if this has anything to do with it. If it is I hope Seth will jump in and do some spanking of his own.

Let me know if you have seen a decline in any of your lenses.

Don't worry about the PR. Who cares. What matters is SERPs. I would rather have a PR0 and be number 1 in SERPs than have a PR5 but be on the 12th page. SERPs bring you traffic and money. PR is only good for selling a site or to determine the quality of a backlink you might target.

QFT I don't think I would agree more. PR is so popular nowadays, nobody remembers what they are trying to do online - make money!

That's right! Focus in driving real traffic and in improving your SERP's. That is were the money is!

It could not happen in my point of view because it is gaining it after day by day.It might be possible that it can be loss but not in that sense that we don't make page over there.Its really good site.

If you are no longer #1 for a given keyword, analyze the sites that came in above you for that keyword to see why. It may not be that you are being penalized, it may be that competitors are being rewarded. Try adding some fresh content and maybe a high PR backlink or two.

Squidoo is SOOO time consuming! No one says this but seriously... It's great for content and everything but my experience is that it's hard to get up and running with Squidoo for traffic. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It's like you have to write 20 extensive lenses on the same topic with similar keywords to drive traffic and make any sales. Even then that's not guaranteed. I mean your lenses have to be extensive (information dense!) AND pretty! For real? You want pretty too? It's just too much. I'd rather stick to forums or do PPC. Even ezines are better for me! It's a lot and what gets me is that when you're actually on Squidoo they make it sound so easy! Of course right? Marketing... The ppl I see on Squidoo who do well have lenses that go on for days and all sorts of aesthetically pleasing doohickies that must take hours to find or cost a pretty penny to implement. I tried for a while but mmm.. maybe I'll get on it again for fun but def not to make any money seriously!

I think to make serious money you need a lot of lenses, yes. But, Squidoo is good for backlinks to any other sites you might own.

This only goes so far though. As to what the first commenter said, having a PR0 page won't generate you much money because ads on low pageranking pages aren't worth really anything. You might get 5-10 cents per click. Ads on a PR5 page will get you into the $2-$5 range sometimes. So I would actually rather have a PR5 page ranked lower than a PR0 page ranked at the top. At least with a PR5 page you can do some tweaking and marketing and move it up on the list.

PR is very important. That's one of the reasons why I prefer Hubpages to Squidoo. Their pagerank flow and internal linking is better overall.
