I found a site called SoccerPunter that claims to have excellent performance in picking Asian Handicap soccer bets (+6 units in the past 9 betting days, with only one losing day). Their "expert picks" cost about $88 (which I believe is in Singapore dollars, which would equal about $56 US dollars). But according to their web site, you only pay when the picks win (break-even days are free, and if you have a losing day they give you free credits), so supposedly you only pay when you're ahead.

The results look incredible (although they only give you stats from the past several days, and they won't tell you what teams/matches were picked). The other weird thing is that their only losing day is 5/13 (today) of -1 unit, but this was posted before any matches have even been started. But maybe they post the bets before they record the wins, so it could change to a win after the match is played. Or maybe they're referring to the 5/12 matches but they're on Singapore time (+8:00) where it would already be the 13th.

So I'm curious to know if it's a scam. Has anyone tried these guys? Are they any good? Will they just run off with the money?

bort.

Here are the results currently posted on their site (I'm posting them here so that we can keep track of them even after they expire from the web site):

3-May-06 + 2 Units
4-May-06 + 1 Unit
5-May-06 + 1 Unit
6-May-06 0 Unit ( Draw)
7-May-06 + 1 Unit
8-May-06 + 1 Unit
11-May-06 0 Unit ( Draw)
12-May-06 + 1 Unit
13-May-06 - 1 Unit

Any site or tipster who only shows their results for the last few days should be treated with extreme caution, it would be very easy for them to have a results page with each days results added to it and a record of each month, I can only think of one reason why someone would not want to show their full results!

The site seems very slow, I can't get it too load at all at the moment, do they have anything about proofing their tips on the site, who do they proof to? Again, if they are not proofing, then that does not sound right, if someonme is a great tipster, they would show all of their results history (not just a few days), and show they were independently proofed and verified by a recognised proofing site.

Tipster want to get customers, that's why genuine ones proof their bets and show full results, if they are not doing that, they have something to hide!

From what I can tell, they don't proof to anybody (which is why I am very suspicious). There are lots of sites like these (another one I noticed is FixSoccer, which does list all their previous picks but costs $100 US per tip), and it's interesting that they all take PayPal (who, I suspect, would very quickly shut down their accounts if they were running a scam or were even suspected of it -- PayPal's pretty notorious for doing that). FixSoccer looks new (the picks only go back to November, but their results claim a 78% win ratio on AH) but I see from old Usenet postings that SoccerPunter has been operating for over a year (at the very least).

It's pretty hard for me to believe that they're able to return these kinds of results. But it's also hard for me to believe that, if they were scamming, that PayPal wouldn't have frozen their account by now. So I'm still being cautious, but I am indeed very curious to know if anyone has used these services (and whether or not they've been scammed).

I used them about 3 years ago, when it was still legal for US citizens to move money around the internet bookies. What was published on their site was accurate, with what I received by SMS text message. The only negative to the site was my Time Zone at the time I used them, as I was not at a computer or had access to a computer a lot of the times when the text would come. They only send the text message about 10 minutes before the start of the match, and the fact that I was in the PST time zone, I was either still asleep or already on the road when the text would come.

Another negative was the fact the bookie (pinnacle), spread would be slightly different than was sent sometimes, resulting sometime in a draw or 1/2 win, where they would get a 1/2 win or full win.

In regards to the person who posted, don't trust a site that doesn't use an outside service to monitor them. The people that use an outside service to verify their results are probably only selling picks and not actually betting on them themselves, so they need all the support they can get, in order to get new people.
