This is a funny topic and still, very interesting to see the responses. A very hot topic of today. I started smoking (tried it out) when I was 8. Both of my parents smoked so it was kind of natural to me. I kept on and it really took off in my teens. I quit app. 8 years ago, back in 2002, and haven't touched a cigarette since. Actually I didn't quit smoking, I decided to become a non smoker, because then I wouldn't have to feel sorry for myself for not smoking Today, I can't stand the smell and I can hardly imagine how I was able to find my fiancee at a time where I was still smoking. If I had known several years ago what I know today about what the cigarette does to my body, I would have never started. Like a doctor at a conference recently told me: There is no such thing that you can do good for your body that will equal the amount of bad that smoking does, so there really is no excuse for smoking. I think that smokers today are personally responsible for their decisions to smoke. I won't be judging anyone. In Denmark there have been passed laws that it's no longer allowed to smoke indoors at public places and many workplaces, so the passive smoking has really been minimized. If you're reading this and considering to give up cigarettes or what it is you smoke, I can only applaud that decision. If you need some help on the way I'd love to assist in any way I can. Holler at me anytime. If you're proud of smoking and it feels good to you, for whatever reason you have, then more power to you. The funny thing is: The money I thought I'd have more of have found other ways to be spent. Have a great day Allan

I have quit smoking or about 4 months now, and i have tos ay i feel better.
Though when i still smoked, and i do still think the same; i used to think: There are people who smoke all their life, and they get 90 years old, and healthy people die at the age of 60 for instance. Smoking does not guarentee the fact you get cancers, it does increases it. And lets face it, these days alot of things give you cancer, although they claim. I dont know how many of you drink milk, but scientists claim that gives you cancer aswell.
What the reason was for me to quit, i felt weak all the time, i used to be a jock, training 6 times a week, and 1 match. I was very healthy, always in a good mood, and very energetic. Since i started smoking, i felt that my energy level just was extremly low. And well the i lost a lot of money to it haha..
I have never seen myself as a real adict smoker, as i only smoked when i wanted to, and not neccesarely when i "needed". During the pas 4 months i have not smoked any cigarets, and i feel alot better now. Started working out again, and getting back in shape like i was.
Thats my story.

QUOTE (livethewayyouwant @ Sep 11 2010, 07:31 PM) So if you see that it is killing your teeth and breath then why do it? Why would you wanna take years off your life?? I just told you why. And don't like to generalise this, by giving a sad excuse like "everybody has bad habbits" ... but the sad truth ... it is true. Anyway I enjoy smoking as much, as some people like to drink beer. And I hate beer :-) but love my red wine.

QUOTE (AnastasiaEdwin @ Sep 19 2010, 05:01 AM) You want to give up smoking? Very difficult. No, that ain't true. If you perceive things to be difficult .. they will be. And didn't have the entire weekend, but feel like having one now.
