Would you pay $299 a year for your site to be included in the Yahoo directory? And would you be prepared to lose the initial $299 with no guarantee it will even be accepted?

QUOTE
Getting answers fast is important to your business. With Yahoo! Directory Submit, your request to be listed in the Directory will be reviewed and the Yahoo! editorial team will respond to you within 7 business days, for a review fee of only $299 ($600 for adult sites). If your listing is accepted into the Directory, there will be a $299 recurring annual fee in subsequent years ($600 for adult sites) to maintain the listing.

If the return is likely to pay for the cost of listing, then it's okay!

Expensive listing fee though.

The problem is it`s a gamble though. The only way to quantify any possible benefits is at the end of the 12 month period.

It's definatley a gamble. How much would it hurt your budget if they didn't accept? If you're bringing in buku bucks, then it might be worth the chance.

I don't personally go that route, but I know of a couple of others who do and they do get a significant amount of traffic from it.

I think its not worth it.....At the end of the day, its your site content that matters most.....

Moreover, the returns may not be great.....its not guaranteed in the sense....just being in their directory thats all

Personally I won't gamble my money on that...

Besides, I can send it for free at many more directory or pay someone to do the submission at much lower price... smile.gif

Not worth it from my point of view.

Nah I wouldn't do it. It just sounds like too much of a gamble and I think they're charging that high price with no guarantee just because they know they can. I've heard that directories don't generate a lot of traffic anyway - so most people are just doing it for the backlink. Yeah backlinks are important, but for $299 I can generate my own darn backlinks!

I think it depends a lot of your product/website. If you're a small company the listing is quite expensive and you aren't sure about the final results, but if you're big enough the listing fee doesn't count anymore.

I also personally think that this gamble is quite expensive smile.gif
