How to make money on the internet with affiliate marketing? This is question I hear all the time. Since this forum is a great place to talk about it I've decided to write quick entry with some tips to get you started making money on the Internet. Let's beak the whole process into few easy to follow steps...

Step 1: Don't just jump into every possible affiliate program you can find!

I don't know why but people keep thinking that the more programs to join the more money they'll make. This is clearly not true. Select one program and concentrate your energy and efforts on few products at one time.

This is way you'll prevent number one problem why most people never make money on the internet - they simply end up overwhelmed! Don't do the same mistake. But this begs question - how do you select right products with money making potential. Answer is simple...

Step 2: Do Market And Keyword Research

The easiest way to make money on the Internet is to sell what people are already buying. This way you just go where the money is. This stuff has been figured out already. It doesn't need any genius. Since you have to somehow and somewhere promote your affiliate products in order to make money, you'll need to do some basic keyword research using free tools (there are so many free tools out there that it's not funny anymore).

Here are some tips for effective keyword research:

• select keywords with at least 10,000 monthly searches
• try to select long tail keywords to avaid heavy competition
• look for keywords with competition of around 50,000 to 100,000 competing pages

Step 3: Once you know what markets you want to enter then you can go and look for affiliate products.

Chose products that pay out at least $30 so it will be worth your time and effort. This is secret of making money on the Internet. There are many of affiliate networks you can sign-up for. One of the best known is clickbank.

Step 4: Based on your keyword research now you need to build some kind of website or blog where you can promote affiliate products you've chosen in step 3. You don't need any HTML knowledge because you can use free services like blogger to build up your blog in no time.

You also need to buy domain name and hosting package. Make sure to include your main keywords in your domain name for search engine optimisation purposes.

Step 5: In order to make money on the internet with affiliate products you need traffic

You can use free methods such as:

• SEO
• Blogging
• Article marketing
• Forum marketing
• Social bookmarking
• Social networking
• Press releases
• Hub pages

Or you can use Paid-For methods such as Google AdWords or any other method. The idea is to generate traffic to your site or blog so you can start making money on the internet.

Step 6: Build mailing lists

Money is in the list! Use of-in pages to convert site visitors into subscribers and later on - buyers. Remember! It's much cheaper to retain existing customer than it's to acquire new one.

Nice post. Agree with most of what you said here. But I will register an exact match domain that only gets around 2000 local searches searches a month if I think I can rank it easy. I also don't pay as much attention to the competing pages as I used to. I also don't have a limit on a minimum commission I'll go after, this business always suprises you. But your post is a nice roadmap for anyone interested in affiliate marketing.

I have to add that picking the right niche is key to success as well as finding the right keyword(s) for it. Longtail keywords are highly suggested to compete in the most common niches such as 'health and fitness'. Once you find a niche that coverts (big or small), keep tweaking and perfecting the ideas that are working and eventually the money will start rolling in. You have to be patient and accept that trial and error is your best teacher. I don't even have a website and I convert enough sales to pay my bills.....the niches are out there....trust me.

I agree with the fact that you need to build a list in a market as people will very rarely buy from you the first time they see your product. A key to succeeding with a list is to also offer value to that list, i.e. free info that will help them.

This was a fantastic and informative post - very good. My advice on top of this is to target long tail keywords that people are hungry for and want NOW. A good example I always use is "lose weight before my wedding day". This is a very nice long tail keyword (where you can also make variations of the keyword) - and people want that kind of info NOW and are willing to pay for it. Youhave to think about that type of thing - enter a market that is hungry for information (or products if you ate selling physical products) and find good long tail keywords (make that great long tail keywords).

Make sure to also always do your keyword research before jumping in anything because if you pick the wrong keywords then you are totally wasting all of the time you will be spending on that particular project which Pyle be months of work.

Those of you who have been at this for some time should you choose a niche that you have knowledge of or should you just take a niche because it may make you the most money in the short term?

Good question. If you're planning on building thin sites with little content then choose your niches by product/click value. If you intend on adding lots of content (i.e. thick sites) then it's better to be in niches that you have some interest in and knowledge about and also to be able to write about informatively.

You are very very correct,from my own personal experience i think the easiest way to fail in internet marketing is jumping into one program from another or involving in so many money making programs at the same time.This happened to me,it made me cashless because i never made even a dime.

When i discovered the truth,i decided to concentrate on the program i think i love and gradually making some money and building my email list very fast.Focusing on one money making program is the basic solution to online money making success.I suggest if the program you already have does not make you money you are expecting,try to learn more about the program and find better ways of sending traffic to your site,it will work out with time and you will finally be happy,i think this is only to add to Peter25k advise.

I would also add that you need to have the right mindset when you are doing affiliate marketing. You really need to be persistent and believe that you can be successful. There is no such thing as a get-rich-quick program, you need to work for your success.

SEO is correctly the market tool that will get you the most traffic in the long term and it really is not so difficult as it may seem on paper, just take action and you will eventually learn a lot. You can even outsource some things, like backlinking (which can take a long time to make yourself).

In the beginning I would however also do email marketing. Safelists if you do not have any money for your marketing or listbuilders. Also do trafficswarm which is the best traffic exchange.
That is what has brought me success in this industry.

I agree 100% with what you are saying here. If you try writing a blog about a product that you have little to no knowledge about your blog is going to end up all over the place. In my opinion, if you do not know or have knowledge of what you are selling or trying to sell it will show through your content and material. When people are looking for more information regarding your product they want quality information that answers most or all of their questions.

I strongly agree that money is in the list. All those fancy steps on earning with affiliate products will be hard without the help of email marketing. Nothing beats the power of the relationship of subscribers to the affiliate. Once you get the hang of the affiliate marketing process maybe you can come up with your own product which you can offer to your subscribers.

Ya you are right, i agree with you,let me give some additional information to this, We can also do online business not exactly selling products (i.e) by directing custoemer to buy products,Its the reselling business.

I am doing online business by reselling domain names,hosting plans etc for quiet 2 years.

One of the great benefits of starting a business from home is that the start up costs are fairly small but that doesn't mean that you can ignore them

i got reselling account from http://www.goresellers.com/ by registering for pro reseller plan .

and i am getting commission from goresellers.

this job can be done as both full time and part time.I just liked to share my experience on online business that's it.

I absolutely agree that the money is in the list and that you have to really believe in yourself that you can be successful. You also need to treat your list right. Provide them with as much value as possible and don't over sell them. Always be there for your list if they have questions or concerns. Provide top quality customer service.
