Amazon is one of the first to offer an affiliate marketing program. They saw the value of creating opportunities for people to work from home promoting Amazon products. You can build a business on that trust and make money as an Amazon affiliate.
What Do You Need?
Before you sign up as an Amazon affiliate, you need some sort of platform to promote products. The most common way to promote any affiliate products is through websites and blogs. Although there are many free blog sites such as Weebly and Google’s Blogger, a paid blog or website looks more professional and will earn more trust. You also need to set up a Paypal account so that your commissions can be sent to you.
Getting Started
Becoming an Amazon affiliate is a matter of going to their site and signing up. Amazon calls their affiliate program “Amazon Associates”, and the sign up link is on the bottom of their page. Once you go through the sign up process you are given an associates identification. Be sure to read through all of their site to fully understand how to place your unique identification on your links so that you get credit for sales and get paid.
Promoting
When choosing products to promote as an Amazon affiliate, look for products that interest you. One of the best methods of promoting a product is by writing reviews or articles about the product. Remember that as an affiliate marketer, you are selling a product to a consumer without them seeing the product first hand. You must create a reason for them to purchase the product. Amazon has many tools within the affiliate center to help you promote products. The tools they have include product links, banners and even an opportunity to build a web store to place on your site.
Earning Potential
As an Amazon affiliate, your earning potential is unlimited. Unlike promoting a single product or e-book, you have an opportunity to earn a commission on any item a customer purchases at Amazon through your unique link. For example, let’s say that you have a web site or blog about cooking. You place a few links to recipe books on your site. A reader at your site clicks on one of those links and they get taken to Amazon through your unique link. The customer buys the book, but they also may purchase cooking equipment or some other item within Amazon. Instead of just getting a commission on the book sale, you get a commission on the entire sale.
Amazon is among the best in affiliate marketing programs, and is a viable option for creating a good income.

Hello guys! I've been dealing with amazon affiliate program for 3 months already. I registered a domain, did a bit of research before that and named my web as i would like to be found in the google.. I get around 50-100 visits per day... but havent made any sales yet. Total of 3000 visits to my site within 3 months. My webpage isnt as attractive as i would like it to because of my lack experience with homepages... So i just installed a wordpress and a shopperpress design. After not made any sales in 3 moths i installed google adsense program to my site. I think it can bring me back some money in the future as i need to pay for the server every month. Also i made a big mistake focusing a season product, but i thought it was a good idea to try to sell a product i am familiar. Finally realising this, i still didn'tt want to give up the page as i think it may bring in some cash in the future... As the domain name is quite good and the search engines seem to like it... Considering to rent the page in the future to some bigger seller... or just sell the domain...
im not sure if im allowed to give you my webpage but here it is.. Feel free to comment. Also sry about my language, not very fluent...

Hi Ati7, making online money really a tough job but it's not impossible . Even if you receiving ton of traffic to your site it's doesn't matter if you're not getting targeted traffic your site. The intention of your visitor is matter to convert it to a sale. SEO plays very crucial part to get targeted traffic but its always needs a longer time to get a good result. Patient & persistence will brings you to success. Wish you all the best mate.

Both require way too much work unless you have a website with great traffic, amazon at least you dont have to worry about the loss of a sale like with clickbank url changes.

Amazon is among the best in affiliate marketing programs, and is a viable option for creating a good income. Hi Saruk, Good post on Amazon affiliate marketing. I just joined Amazon, managed to setup an estore mostly by trial and error. I could use some tips or leads from someone who's been there before on how to get it right and build some real earnings. Please send some my way, will really appreciate. Cheers.

QUOTE (mpw45233 @ Feb 7 2011, 04:09 PM) Didn't Amazon used to have a 30 day cookie?
The main reason I don't use them is because of their 24 hour cookie. It seems like you would miss out on alot of sales that way.
And it's a shame because Amazon is a trusted name among online buyers, and they have alot of products.
Maybe they'll bring back the 30 day cookie and I'll try them again. Hi, Kindly elaborate on the 30 day , 24 hour cookies and how they affect my sales on Amazon. Thanks

I had an amazon associate account for a few months, however I'm sad to say that I haven't earned anything yet. I guess the product I'm advertising is just too expensive, I got 200 unique hits to the website (a blog about a Logitech z906 5.1 speaker system) but none of them actually went ahead and bought it. Any tips? thank you.
