Plz dont get me wrong, this thread is not a promotiom of any MLM, in fact i think that MLMs (Multi-Level Marketing) are dead scams.

But as surprizing as it may sound MLMs still attract a lot of people in North america.

This is my own entry about my own exparience with MLM.
My story starts today (i just came home from the "interview" with the guy) and i will keep posting updates as they happen.

So just for introduction MLM is Multi-Level Marketing which means you refer people and get paid, and you also get paid when people that you refered refer others, something like a pyramid.

so here i start my story
i live in Canada Toronto
recently i was looking for a job and called my old friend who used to be my manager at my last job (we did market surveys and research).
He always needs people for staff that he does, so when i called him he said he has i perfect job for me. He offered me to have my own business so i said cool!

this is not the matter of him not being honest but he trusts too much and defenately has not enough knowledge.
so in my next conversation he told me that he and his parter "very trusted man" already own a business. he also told me that his partner will call me the next day and that the partner can better explain what it is.
i was not able to wait for his call that day so we agreed that i will call him.

the next day i called my friend he passed the phone to his partner right after i called him (seems like that guy drived 25 km just to wait for my call at my friends place) cool customer service...

when i talked to the guy he politely refused to answer any questions buy we arranger to meet at the StarBacks near my place the next day (bening today)


i had the feeling of it being MLM but i desided to take a look.
i came there at the arranged time. the guy came in 1 min wearing a nice business suit.
we found each other and he started it interview stule... by asking me some questions like what do i do for living, how do i kown my friend, and how i see myself in 5 years.

than he pulled out a page that had a map of the world and some points that he was explaning to me.

he said that the company he works for Davies International Business Group helps suppliers from arround the world meet the customers.
he said that 65% of the product price is spend on advertisment (which i personaly question). they as he told me do advertisment.

he also said that there are 4 types of making money
1 work for some one
2 Investment -- money work for you
3 traditional business -- you work for your self
4* or as he called it a business system when you bring in people and they work for you (we all know that it is MLM)

so he went talking about what can i achive
he said that his company will help me make my "business" by 3 steps

1 free training that i have to signe up for
2 me working in a group that they will put me in for promotion of some products. This step takes 12 month and at this step i can make from $30 000 to $40 000
3 me making my own group and when the people i refer will get to level 2 i will get paid a % of what they are earning. I suposed to get from $120 000 to $225 000 a year. (ha ha)

i never told him of my knowledge in the MLM and internet investing field.
just tried not to lought listening to this BS.

in the end when i asked what exactly promotion means and what complay i will be promoting for he said that he will expalin everything next time. but i could be so luck to advertise there company Davies International Business Group which is the best.

he also tried to prevent me form getting the right full name of the company
calling it DIBG all the time. what i asked him to wright it down for me unfortunately he failed to spell the word International and was thinking about it for a good minute...

he said that he well meet me tomorrow in a big office for the second interview. he said that my frind will also be going and he will drive me.
so i left...

after i called my frind and actualy he was not going to go there. but after the guy talked to my friend he said that he will go with me.


i talked to my frined on the phone after the interview. surprizengly he did not know what MLMs are. he said that he is doing traning right now, but they already allowed him to jump to step 3 and sterting getting the referals. my frind told me that tomorrow there will be a big conference with a lot of people.

i asked him who is his so called partned and where did hi meet him.
my friend said that he is a trysted person and that he met him i month ago, ON THE STREET!
he said that still did not make any money but he knows people who did (through the company)

i told my friend that i will go with him tomorrow but for now will not signe anything. so there we left it i was kind of shoked..

i called the guy later this evening and he said that he is preparing some papers for me and that i have to wear business outfit tomorrow when i come.
he said that he well send me an invitation to come tomorrow but few hours past and i did not get ti still. i gess he is making a profile on me caz MLMs do that.
i am sure that i will get it ...

he also said that the promotion that the company does is totaly online.

so there is the end for now...

i will keep you up to date on what will happend, just to get you to know what you may face dealing with MLMs and there strategies.

i realy regret that i do not have a tape recorder when i go there tomorrow.
if you know any interesting info in these company share...

i will sare my story, and eventhough i dont belive it 100% who knows if i will gane or lose...

Take my advice and do not join , in fact I would just walk away at this point. You do not understand the comp plans are designed to make the owners rich. I have 18 years exp. in more MLMs than I care to remember.

If you want to succeed ASAP, you are in the right place- the MMG forum where you will learn how the money-making game is played. The MLM concept is sound but most compensation plans are not designed to work for the majority of people. Also the honesty and the competentcy of the admin staff must be verified.
People talk about success without having a clue as to how to make it happen. Greed overcomes reason and blinds people to reality.

Trust your instincts and your gut feelings about the man who is trying to rope you in.

Good thread here ... we can discuss how tough it is to recruit and keep people motivated. I know all about it !!!

it also had a map and a pucture of the building on it. done realy professionaly

at 7 i met my friend and we went to the place all (dressed up)
the place itself was was a building with the name of the company on it. i would say thet to rent this would cost about $2000 to $4000 a month. there was something like a stege and a screen on the wall.

when we came in i felt like 100 people run at me to shake my hand and ask how am i doing today. they also asked for my invetation (which i did print out) and took it for some record i gess.

then we proceeded to the conference room with a small stege and a screen.
there were about 200 to 300 people in there. at least 25% of them were people working for the company who are traned to talk...

the presentation sterted with a short move basicaly telling the same thing that i was told on the "first interview"

after that the President of the company came (Phill Davies )

he was talking for 2 hours. i will try my best at passing the things to you (i took some good notes when he weas talking)

he sterted by saing we are the real business and there fore like everyone else we want you money! but after you will make hundreds of thousands because of us.

he talkied about example how much money do companies put in ads

he also said that paid reviewes is what moves the business right now (as i got to know later they pay only if you wright it, send it to some one and the some one buys. you get as much as 3% and only after depositiong $250 -- but this came much closer to conclusion of the speach).

i would say thet 70% of the time he was talking about staff complitely off topic
somethig like about water in the tap that is bad and why. trying to look smart and in puttiong the words like trie-etso-maetains (chemistry) and other

he said they you can benifit by helping others benifit and bringing the referals (such a friendly world)
he talked about banners online and how much they cost.

he said that we have to change out buing habbits and start buing online (quixtar.com)

-- quixtar.com is the main thing and davies international is only one part othe the chain.

he said the companies like mastercard, kodak, Ais and others have contracts with them, I gess with quixtar he ment.

he talked about professionl e-commerce -- what he called i-commerce

also he talked about how he started he said that he invested $75 and opened a website. them worked 2 hours a week and now has $1.5 billion industry

the promised everyone the free money after 2 years of working eith his MLM and staff

he also talked about types of work you can do and showed a chart on the screen

1 E enmployee
2 S self employed
3 B business System (the MLM) i think that a perfect short name for it will be BS
4 I investment

after he was explaning the main part -- how you get money from referals
there is a complicated point system and i did not get anything, he talked so fast
but my friend got the info and i well get it from him soon

he also said that after some time you get paid for refering people who dont even buy any steff but thats like after 2 years

he recomended to read a book called "rich dad, poor dad" my fring said that it is good
also he said thet there is a good website called thisbiznow.com (also advertising MLMs probably)

then there was 5 min intermition when everyone who did not like it were welcome to go home. i satied

the people started runing arround and shaking my hand. i felt like every second some one was wathing me.
at this time i left my frind and went to the restroom. there was i line and as i was standing in it 2 people that worked there as i could tell came arround (like they were in the line) and stardet taking and being friendly....

after the breake about 20 people left. the president made 4 main points that lead to sucess as he said.
1. listen a lot
2. work smart
(you need no education as he said)

3. Change your bing habits and buy only online.
(at this time he pulled out an energy drink that you can buy only online at the site and started drinking it. all of the people who were there not the frist or second time also pulled out this drink and started drinking it.)

4. Associate (hang arroud with rich people like he is and you will learn to be rich)

so there was the end of it. on the way out thy gave my friend some peace if paper that is conferming that he was there and he can get refund from taxes for gaz (like he spend it for business)


we were talking with my friend in the car on the way home. he said that he alredy paid $250 and is sure it will work. he asked me to be his parther. well said that i will stay out.. but certanly help him with research and staff. they invaited me for traning in thursday but i dont think i will make it
well with this i ended up my day

That sounds really scary. I wonder how they are able to keep this kind of activity running. Seems like your friend got brain washed.

I share what i think about MLM:
- MLM is can really make money for you (but the product is must real and NOT MONEY GAMBLING)
- Many MLM say, You can do MLM and you can still do your main Job to, but It's SUX If you want to really make money from MLM, You must do MLM as your MAIN JOB not SIDE JOB, you can look peoplewho suceed on MLM, have you seen that they only do MLM for SIDE JOB?
- MLM Technique is good for Brainwashing people, and Many Techniques uses in MLM GOOD TO USE in your REAL JOB.. I really suggest to join MLM Training

I personally not active in any MLM, but i've joining in training in some MLM and the content of the training is good and i can use it in my own life

MLM that i know:
Amway, CNI, GoldQuest, Tianshi, QuestNet, SmartLife

Haha Amway. I got suckered into that when I was younger. Only then it involved travelling around and standing in front of strangers drawing circles on a whiteboard and telling people they could get rich if they joined under me.
Needless to say, after 2 years I was making about AUS$30 a month and decided to discontinue. The concept of building a network of people under you who just use the company's product and you getting a small percentage of their purchase is a good one, but after years of trying I found the drop out rate was incredible and even just getting people just to buy their Amway soap instead of another brand was fighting a losing battle.
The concept is ok, it just getting people motivated to do the same and finding them is the hard bit. Very few make any money from it. Thankfully at the time I was involved I was pretty poor and only ended up about $200 or so out of pocket.

well that was what i told my friend....
