People say it's not too difficult to learn SEO. So I wish to know in general how long it might take for one person to learn it? Say, one year? or more with no computer knowledge background?

There is no length of time. SEO is constantly changing so in order to really be an expert in the field, you must constantly be learning. There are some very good guides around the forums. You could easily learn the basics within a day most likely.

Yup! Its a never ending process. But to learn the basics and get started I would say anywhere from 3 to 6 months and then keep working on what you learn to improve it.

You are right. It's not hard to learn SEO but it takes time to be on top of Google. Pain and efforts, that's what it takes.

Very true. Although I would also add that another problem with learning it is that nothing is really concrete. Since Google keeps its ranking factors pretty secret, a lot of the information out there on SEO are educated guesses. And everything is debated and viewed differently by different SEO experts. For instance, no one ever seems to agree upon the worth of link exchanges.

it may 3 months to 6 months of reading and applying what you've learned to get an understanding of how to get indexed and target keywords for ranking. More technical stuff you can learn later

blablabla ... way too long guys. The basics take you a few hours. And you need about $100-500 per site on average for link buying. I know cause I worked for top10 google ranking casino company. So the limit ain't the techskills but the budget.

As people are saying, it's very much like the length of a piece of string.

If you spend 10 minutes learning something and put it to use, then you're much better off than you were before - to be really well informed on SEO, you could spend some time every day learning. But the key is to put it to use! And to see the results smile.gif

Not that long actually...SEO is basically all link building and right keyword target. Home page linking and deep linking as well. I was able to have my site up in first page of google and top 3 spot in about 3 months. Of course, every niche is different, if you pick a niche that is very competitive, it might take a long time. Also, niches that have lots of competing pages, will take some time.

Ya it's pretty simple to learn, but it takes a while to truly be able to put it to practice. Keep at it and be willing to spend a little bit of cash in the process. Keep researching and learning the most effective ways for SEO use and after a while it will just become a second thought, instead of something you need to research on a regular basis.

SEO is every changing subject. There is nothing certain in SEO. So one can never stop studying it. Generally it will take around 1 month to have basic knowledge on SEO.

As above, SEO is always changing so there are no simple methods. You are always going to be guessing how the search engines work to some extent.
