I was self-employed , selling boxes of Christmas Cards door to door in 10 below 0 weather on the Air Force base , St. Hubert, near Montreal. I remember one lady who only had a ten dollar bill and I did not have change. I walked home and was too frozen to go back the one block with change for her so I let that sale go and it really pissed me off, considering how much profit I lost. But I did ok until the freezing cold took its toll on me, and I stopped and sent the remainder of the cards back to the company. I kept my 50% of all sales and was quite proud of myself. Next summer , I loaded a red wagon with marbles, comic books, golf balls and whatnot and pulled that wagon all over the PMQ's selling stuff to whoever had a few pennies or nickels. I also did trades. Everytime I made a sale or a good trade, I felt really good like I had some measure of control over my financial destiny. If I couda sold snowballs and/or icicles , I wouda lol ..... through the mail to the folks in Florida !!
