Today it has become clear that Google is making some major changes to their PageRank system. Major sites all across the net have taken huge hits to their PR. Many webmasters believe that google is penalizing sites that are buying and selling links but there has been no official word from Google.

Some sites hit:
* Engadget (from 7 to 5)
* AutoBlog (from 6 to 4)
* Problogger (from 6 to 4)
* Copyblogger (from 6 to 4)
* Search Engine Journal (from 7 to 4)
* Quick Online Tips (from 6 to 3)
* Search Engine Roundtable (from 7 to 4)
* Blog Herald (from 6 to 4)
* Weblog Tools Collection (from 6 to 4)
* JohnTP (from 6 to 4)
* Coolest Gadgets (from 5 to 3)
* CyberNet News (from 6 to 4)
* Search Engine Journal (from 7 to 4)
* Search Engine Guide (from 6 to 4)

* Washington Post (from 7 to 5)
* Washington Times (from 6 to 4)
* Charlotte Observer (from 6 to 4)
* Forbes.com (from 7 to 5)
* SFGate.com (from 7 to 5)
* Sun Times (from 7 to 5)
* New Scientist (from 7 to 5)
* Seattle Times (from 6 to 4)

We will need to wait a few days to see the implications of SE referral traffic, but it looks like Google is trying to bully webmasters and stop them from selling links.

Hi

Yes, my firends' directory submission sites drop too.

Many people earn for living by the advertisments industry and highly dependent on the advertisements' profits.

I think they are greatly affected and they feel bad about this matter.

In fact, every company has its gaming rule.This is not an exception!!!!

Do you think Googxx is right this time?

People are drawing quick conclusions from a relationship that is extremely weak.

There is no solid correlation between sites that sell links having their PR dropped, and sites that don't having their PR dropped. The fact is most websites sell links so if Google reduces PR on most sites - then it will automatically look like most sites that sell links have lost PR.

From personal experience and speaking to others PR has dropped in some instances - but traffic and rankings are the same.

My advertisers don't seem to care about PR as much anymore as it is just grossly innacurate at measuring a site's worth.

Hi
Congrats.

Some firends' site pr value raised 1 or 2 steps.
But buy/sell is still a major issue as it may relate with human activities.
Computer programs can control what a human will want or think.
