When running an online business, we are advised to try and try again till we gain profit, earning or whatever our goals in starting the business, instead of giving up after failing in the first try. But, how to judge when to stop? How to know that the business is not worth the time and money invested anymore?

Some businesses can take a long time before they turn in a profit. But, if you've done all you can to analyse what the problem is, and you feel you are wasting your time and efforts, that's probably the time to call it a day.

The problem is for all of us that although the Internet is huge, if we have something that's highly competitive, we've got to be doing something special to get our fair share.

Have you asked others to take a look at your site, perhaps, to see if there's anything obvious which could be putting people off?

Your site looks really simple not very compelling that could have something to do with the lack of sales. But really it's all about TARGETED traffic. Try and be more optimistic. (smile smile.gif)There is a point when you have to quit BUT not until you feel like you've explored all your options. I HIGHLY suggest you promote a clickbank product with a gravity of OVER 100 (so you know the product converts and you'll make sales) as well as do targeted email marketing with solo ads via OPL or "other people's lists". Google it. It is very important you get a targeted newsletter to send your solo ad to, one that is already interested in the niche of the clickbank product you are promoting. (solo ads cost anywhere from $25 to $100. Some even cost $400 depending on the # of subscribers in the newsletter you're sending the solo ad to). Google "newsletter" under the niche of the product you're selling (i.e. "dog walking + newsletter") and ask the owners of the newsletters you find if they run solo ads, how big their subscription list is, if they think their subscribers will be interested in your product (clickbank product) and how much a solo ad costs. When you run your solo ad just use the emails that come in the affiliate tools of the clickbank product you're promoting just replace the specified areas with your hoplink (preferably run through some free cloaking site to protect your clickbank hoplink). You will see great success with this method! smile.gif

It's not all about money in the short term.

It happens that you may make money with a website (business idea) but you don't quite like the business.

You may feel more inclined to try something else, even that doesn't turn out to be profitable from the start.

It all depends, but not only on money.
If you like an online business idea that much, you shouldn't give up because it didn't turn out to be worth it fast.

It's more like instinct, it cannot be taught.

NEVER QUIT ... NEVER EVER STOP. Just learn from your mistakes. And start listening to people who already have what you want; have a mentor/coach. So you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Thus it's not 'instinct' ... it's lack of skill. And skills can be acquired. Example: If you wanna be a GP, you go to medical school. So to earn money online you need to go to 'school' too. Learn from the best and **** the rest. harhar.gif thumbup(1).gif sorry ... blush.gif

I agree with Rhyker, even though it looks like he's been banned lol. You really shouldn't ever give up. If you do decide to give up, you either A) forget about making money online or B) start fresh with another project and put yourself right back in the same boat. It doesn't matter what you're trying to do online, you just have to keep at it. You need traffic, you need a list and you need something to sell. If you're passionate about what you're selling, that helps a great deal. When you're passionate, people will be drawn to that, instead of your product. They'll be attracted to you, and then you can sell them just about anything, if they can see that you love it or agree with it, or stand by it.

So find something that you believe in and keep at it. Don't give up. In down periods when you don't have anything left to fiddle with on your site, go and learn. Read articles, forums, ebooks, etc on ways to do specific things. Like advertise, get traffic, etc. Hope that helps!
