The best way is simply sell ads. Once your forum gets large enough you will have people contacting you for ad space. Another way to generate revenue is to have a special upgraded member group, where members get special priviledges for a small monthly or annual fee.

correct but till then he can put google ads on his forum until his forum get large enough to get the Advertisers

i use Edited:ref link removed to display ads on my site and it seems to work very well

yeah i would use adsense until im generating enough traffic then people will start to contact you for ad space.

or you can sell forum space, open up another forum/category for that advertiser, that is if he's selling products related to yours

I hear putting AdSense inbetween posts is pretty effective, but a lot of people find it annoying.
