Soso.Bz is one of the URL shortening service. This is useful in many circumstances (see below) e.g. in email clients that break long URLs.

URL shortening is a technique on the World Wide Web where a provider makes a web page available under a very short URL in addition to the original address. For example, the page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=283308287 can be shortened to http://Soso.Bz/21z

On Twitter or instant message status even a 60 character long URL can be too long. A URL shortener can make short URLs such as http://Soso.bz/3dj (18 characters), http://tinyurl.com/gf65th (25 characters). In Twitter http://www can be replaced by www and 7 fewer characters can be used.

Here are just a few of the many uses for Soso.Bz's URL shortening service:
1.Shorten web addresses for emails, forum posts, blogs etc. which cannot handle long URLs and might wrap them, making them unclickable.
2.Lower the character count when texting web addresses to a mobile phone.
3.Hide the real URLs of affiliate links from visitors to your site.

In terms of tracking your traffic ###### is by far the best free site for that.

yes Google URL shortner is far better and preferable, besides adf.ly and others also pay when some one click to shortened links from their platform.

There are a lot of free url shorteners right now, the most popular one is tiny url and bit. ly . Google also took advantage of the trend and released Goo.gl. Even twitter has an auto-url shortening service.
I also use url shorteners in wordpress. They have awesome free plugins that speeds up url shortening.

Or you could reg a cheap domain -- say a dot info domain -- assign it to your Cpanel if you have hosting -- activate a sub domains for your dot info -- e.g xxxx.yourdomain.info -- yyyy.yourdomain.info etc and redirect those subdomains any long ugly url using the domain redirect function of your webhost

Well i must say Google is master of all search engines and it also provides so many beneficial tools.Try it's url shorten tool.i assure that must be appreciable

Not only does it shorten url's but it also offers hit tracking stats worldwide which I personally

find invaluable especially when testing advertising sources.

I have recently started using trck.me and love it. Close second comes into budrl and bitly

Google has started to share thier own short url.

I like to track my campaigns via bitly and Google Analytics...think I may try Soso.Bz and budurl as mentioned in this thread.

Yes, Importance of URL shortening services are very important, for example twitter is always problem to place full link URL, so here URL shortening services are essential to use.
