I'm a newbie to affiliate marketing but it sounds like one of the better options when first starting out to try and make money online. Can anyone tell me how to find the best one's or the most reputable ones. I just want to make sure I don't get scammed or waste my time. How much should I expect to make from something like this working about 10 hours per week?

Hi there gwiggins! Welcome to the wonderful world of affiliate marketing! I understand you dilemma. Its like being a kid with a nickel stuck in a giant candy store.

There are so many different programs out there & you're right, most of them scams. As a rule of thumb, use caution before joining any program. Most likely, if it asks you to pay before hand, its a scam. The best thing you can do to avoid them is to do exactly what you are doing right now: looking for answers in forums. Just keep reading and learning and you will do fine. In other words, do your research BEFORE you invest anything!

As far as the best programs, personally, I would recommend joining ClickBank because it is free to join and easy to use. It is a digital marketplace that has thousands of different products for affiliates to choose from in the "marketplace." You do not have to purchase the products at all. Instead, you get a certain percentage of the total sales price, usually ranging anywhere from 50-75%.

Here are a few tips for when you are searching for products in the marketplace:

• look at the offers, and pick products that you are interested in or think you would buy
• try picking products in a certain niche, preferably one with low-medium competition
• pick products with a low refund rate
• gravity is usually how i refrain my searches, but remember high gravity doesn't always mean its the best. I usually pick a medium leveled gravity
• only pick products that are worth promoting. Pick a good payout range for you, lets say greater than or equal to $30
• when searching for products, type in the word "recurring." This way you can sell the product once and make money monthly. Less effort on your part!

This is a lot to digest, I know. Since you are new to this, you should definitely look into the FREE clickbank software I have in my signature. Just scroll to the bottom and click on free trial. It will give you access to product performance graphs, ranking histories, stats, & much more, allowing you to pick the HOTTEST and best converting products on the marketplace. It will also save you time!

Once you have found certain products that you like, click the "promote" button to the right. Enter your clickbank username, and it will create your affiliate link! It will look like a long jumbled mess, but you can shorten it at a site like Tiny Url.

Then, here comes the fun part: promoting your link. You can promote it anywhere you would like on the internet, just don't spam it. Those are basically the rules. For free advertising and a good place to start, I would try using various traffic exchanges and safelists.

For my last bit of advice, the best way to get clickbank sales is to build a list. This takes time and patience, but as it grows over time, you will make TONS of sales. One of the most successful tactics to building a list is to "give away" free resell products such as e-books and software. I would definitely look in some of the larger affiliate networks for the best aff programs such as cb, cj & azoogle, this allows you to have (almost) all high quality affiliate programs at your disposable & usually better tracking & customer service than you would with an independent affiliate program.

Selling other people's products (being an affiliate) is a great way to make money. With the growing of the internet a lot of people will be looking for a product like the one you are selling.

However do you feel that people aren't buying the product you're selling? Do you want to know why they aren't buying it? It's because the product isn't that good. Most people only care how much a product is worth, fair enough you don't want to get paid peanuts for hours of work but that doesn't mean you go and sell the most expensive product you can. How many people do you think would go and buy a $180 program? Not many some will, but the majority will just think you're crazy.

Advertise in your local community. Local classifieds, local forums, newsgroups, message boards. You don't have to only stick to the major forums, and well known online communities. Depending how big the city is where you live you can get quite a few sales to start you off with some local ads.

When you decide what niche is best for your traffic try to spy your competitors. Most likely the programs that they are using the most are the best ones. Also do the research at various affiliate/webmaster forums and study program history. Usually if a program is dishonest there will be a lot of info about it.



No one can answer this question. You need to try it and see yourself.

CJ: there are some bar and EPC that you can know from there which of these affiliate programs are doing well.

Clickbank: You will know how good are affiliates doing with the product by checking Gravity.


But in my humble opinion to know which affiliate program is good, is checking first the list of affiliates products/ebooks is there. Test the product and look at the landing page. As a customer do you feel is good? If yes, then promote it!

Great advise! I would just add that the best way to make money with affiliate marketing is to be promoting newly released product first. Market becomes saturated after while! Even then you can overcome this by offering bonuses if someone buys from you. Just remember to offer something that provides value and is of interest to the target market. Free videos are great bonus because they have higher percieved value than e-book or anything else.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to go to start making soem extra cash. My advice is you learn to market effectively online first before you even contemplate begginning, fail to market effectivley and you will make no money at all.

I would suggest you will need a little more than ten hours a week to learn how to make money online when you are starting out.

I just recently started a business and with what I know about internet marketing and affiliate marketing I think that would be an excellent way to bring in sales quickly and efficiently. However, I don't know the best way to find affiliates.

Clickbank is not an option as we do not have downloadable digital projects.

I believe I found a solution for tracking but I am open to a good program that takes care of that as well.
